I'm thinking of getting one of the beltbuckles for the 22LR and wondering how this one releases the gun.

I'm also wondering why this one is discontinued?

I actually like the look of the push-button release, but I'm wondering now if there was some flaws that caused it to be no longer available.

Thanks. I've been snooping around for some time, but couldn't find an answer to this one so I decided to sign up finally.

Sorry, but I can't help with your question.

I would suspect the one that was discontinued may not have been secure enough & a special grip on the other side that may have been a problem.

I don't know how the new one works but I did like the color of the old one that blended into the buckle. It helped to hide the pistol in plain sight. Most of the buckles make the pistol too obvious.

Moving the little tab behind the trigger would release the gun.  Call NAA; they'll be more than happy to give you the specifics.  I believe that the latest is the only buckle I don't have.  The one with the aluminum grips is very neat; it almost makes the gun look like part of the buckle.

you might try contacting ZippoVarga on youtube, and i'm sure he's on this board as well. I know for SURE he has the second buckle and could give you some info on it (durability and etc)

Thanks guys. I'll probably end up with the second one with the alu. grips. I'm not looking for an every day carry with it, but would like to have it as an option. I was mainly checking in to see if there was any known downfalls of it. Anyone else reading this please keep the info coming.

The buckle with the "button" release has been discontinued and is no longer available.  The buckle with the "lever" (which rotates to release the gun) works far "better" and does not require special grips to attach the gun to the buckle.

Here is a different buckle. Just a bit over priced I'd say

This guy is WAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAY too proud of his buckle, I think I paid $40-45 each for the 2 I've got from the NAA home page, a long time ago, collectible or not, it's not worth $500, new or used. I've been asked to sell mine a long time ago, and I'm not interested, but that seems way high.

The button one, I think was discontinued because, I believe, because the button released the revolver too easily, Kenny would probably be more informed about that. The way it works is when the button is pressed, it spreads a wire spring which pinches the supplied aluminum grip in the back of the buckle. Not the best, or safest way to carry. Mine takes very little pressure on the button for the release of the revolver. In fact, it released by my putting a napkin on my lap a hitting the release returned as my hand returned to the top of the table, I felt it fall into my lap and none were the wiser, but a seatbelt across the lap, higher than it should be, and it could released and be dropped unbeknownst to you, and picked up by anyone. The newer model looks like a much more secure arrangement.

Welcome to the forum, by the way!!!!

These are my favorite buckles.  But not for five hunded dollars; that can buy several minis.

I have a LR and  Mag of the "$500" buckle. I wonder if he would like to have some more of them?

I find it almost impossible for me to wear either of them. The hammer digs into my belly too much for me to sit while wearing one of them.    As long as I don't have to sit down, they are great!

This looks like a little better deal. It also gives some idea of how the older style buckle works.

It also shows the problem Freedom Arms had with the plastic grips. If you tightened them too tight you would break the grip.

I never encountered a FA with plastic grips.  But I have older NAA minis with them.  They are wretched.
