I'm also enjoying the picture of your collection.

gebe

Thanks folks. It's an oddball little guy. When firing, it kicks just a tad more than the .22 Mag Mini. I hope this isn't too many pictures:

gebe,
Never can have too many pictures (of handguns).

Good photos, Gebe. I agree that it is an oddball gun, but very interesting for just that reason. I figured it would kick more than you are saying: but I have never actually shot a .38 S&W of any kind.

Do not worry about annoying anyone by posting too many photos of guns!

Wow, that's awesome. I want one!

RogueTS1

Mr. 22 stole my thoughts once again but........................... I want one. That is one really cool little pepper box. ( generic term there.)

Looks to me like you have to have that thing at half cock when closing chamber for loading. I can see the firing pin.....................
Wounds of the flesh a surgeon's skill may heal but wounded honour is only cured with steel.

gebe

You're correct Rogue. You put it to half cock, press that button on the bottom and it slides open for loading. Then you depress the button again and slide it closed until it locks with a click. After inserting a cartridge, you slightly pull back on the hammer from half cock and align the firing pin into a shallow depression so it can be safely carried and won't discharge if dropped. Sounds complicated but all of it can be accomplished in about five seconds.

I bought it back in the 1980's and I think I paid $80.00. It's mostly constructed of very thick, high grade stainless steel and has a nice hefty, solid feel to it even though it's so small. I've never seen another one for sale and I think they made less than 400 of them.

I was lucky because that pocket holster made by Concealment Specialties that I bought for a .22LR Mini several years ago fit it perfectly and also holds an extra two rounds of ammo in the little pocket.

I am confident I have shown this photo before, but for the new people and it has been some time here is one:

Who makes that holster??

Looks like an Uncle Mike's pocket holster

That's the damest looking single shot I've seen since my antiques ,that's one piece anybody would have a heck of a time finding , WOW . You say it doesn't kick well you'd know alright , looks like it would buck real well , very surprising . Wouldn't get rid of that for almost anything . Heck on Gunbroker someone was trying to sell the four shot 22 for $600,  I couldn't put a price on your piece . A absolute keeper . Too many pictures Ha Ha Ha Ha Ha Ha you kidding us . ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D

Yup, I can say I never seen anything like it either, it looks like it can get reallll loud when you drop the hammer on it though.
Nice pictures, and no not to many.

cfsharry

My first thought when I saw the first pic was a Sharps reproduction. Wow was I surprised to see it was a single shot.  Have not seen or heard of that little guy before so thanks for the pics and history lesson.

Is the barrel rifled?

As I stated in a prior post, the pocket holster was made by Concealment Specialties. I think I got it from Ebay a few years ago for my .22LR Mini but it was a little loose fitting but fits this thing perfectly.

The barrel doesn't have rifling per se but has six light, fairly wide, straight grooves cut into it that must be for some kind of bullet stabilization. If you look close, you can just see two of them in the first picture.

It's really fun to shoot with standard velocity .38 S&W ammo and kicks about as much or slightly more than the .22 Mag Mini and is about as loud. I haven't tried the new "souped-up" ammo from Buffalo Bore yet but I'm sure it'll kick even more.  :o

Since the hard rubber grips are small and smooth and don't really offer much purchase, I was thinking of maybe trying a set of the slip-on grips for the .22 Mag Mini. They made a world of difference for me when I put a set on my personal .22 Mag Mini. The length of the slip-on's look about perfect but the grips on this are slightly wider on the bottom.

Anyone have a set of the .22 Mag slip-on's they're not using and would consider selling?  :D

I previously posted a pic of my sidewinder with the hogue grips. Here she is with my chong vang grips. I think she's finally perfect. It fits my hand just right. It took some time filing to get the blast shields hollowed out but it was worth it.

Yeah, looks great warran. I'm one of the few here that doesn't care for the vang grips, (too angular for my tastes), but I have to admit they look great on your Sidewinder.

Okay OV, I'll trade you the gun for 3/4 of your soul.  ;D  My wife gave up years ago saying, "do you really need another gun?"

warrnan

I'll admit. The cvangs are a strange look but in the hand it feels great. That strange bottom angle sits right in line with my pinky finger.

I think were married to the same woman . I can't start another collection of single shots right just now I'm still trying to figure how I'm going to get enough cash together for this new 4 inch sidewinder that's about to come out supposedly . Besides your an easy name to remember , ha . ;D ;D

My two primary NAA pistols.

I still have a short barrel .22 Magnum and a stainless .22LR in the safe that have sentimental value and are considered retired. Maybe one day NAA will re-release the break-top model and I'll add that to my collection but for now, the four will have to make due.

Clip grip on my daily carry, I usually carry 5 rounds of Speer short barrel 22 mag in it but when I'm fishing or in the woods I replace two rounds with 22 mag rat shot.
Enjoy!
