TO ARMS , TO ARMS the liberal socialists are coming . Load and prime your weapons . Don't shoot till you see their UN patches or the Obama bumper stickers , literally . And shoot any politician that says he wants to help you or us .

NOTL21

I put a $1k bid in...we will see how long that lasts!

Not sure about the engraving.

NOTL21

That was quick...already at $1,025!

Sad part is I had the cash when the early bird deal was announced and decided on a stainless ruger single six. I could buy 3-4 single sixes for what they go for now....

Just started to get interesting , it's a whole lot more exciting than alligator wrestling .  ;)

These Rangers seem to be quite the attraction especially with engraving and special serial numbers.

kingt

It will be mine as soon as it's shipped.  My wife's and my second engraved commemorative Ranger with special serial number.  They are wonderful mini revolvers.  We own two others with regular serial numbers.  A truly proud collection.  (a Black Widow too)

OV-1D

You telling us you folks have FOUR top-breaks ? Unc_Lee and myself seem to come in second with two each . Had three but felt sorry for another collector and sold him one . But you have the special additions also , dang , good for you . True museum pieces . :)

"Thou shall not collect all the Top-Breaks" should be how it reads . ;)

But someone wanted to sell them and I was there to buy them.  They are certainly expensive and I doubt I will be springing for any more of them.  I promise to lay low and let someone else get a chance at them.  After all, I don't want to be greedy now do I?  Nice reading you, OV and Michael.  Keep it coming.

Just so there's no misunderstanding - I am coveting YOUR goods....

Just a case of plain old, green-eyed jealousy.

Rather see someone from the forum have the Rangers than some heathen who doesn't appreciate them.

Final price was $1,675.  Since you could value part of the purchase price as a donation, the actual hard cash was around $1,200.

Seems like a pretty good deal.  I probably should have kept bidding.

We will probably see more of these in the future.

No part of the final price was a donation.  The donation was made by NAA.  $1,675 was the price paid.  No charitable deduction for tax purposes.

kingt

Hey NOTL21.  You probably should have kept bidding.  I was getting to the point of quitting and didn't have a lot of working room left.  After $1700 I would have to think hard on it.

NOTL21

I personally think Rangers are worth approximately 500 to $1,000 in today's market.  They have been higher in the past.

I am not sure what professional training some have regarding taxes (I am a CPA for 30+ years) but when you read the description as a fund raiser (see below), the difference between the fair market value and actual donation could be considered as a charitable donation providing HAVA is a 501(c)(3) or has other similar IRS status.

This Ranger Derringer has been custom engraved by Baron Technologies, Inc. in support of HAVA, an organization of volunteers working to help veterans who have served our country. The serial number HAVA2015, is the only of its kind. The five-shot, .22 MAG comes with glass presentation box and brown leather basket weave holster.

All proceeds from the sale of this one-of-a-kind pistol go directly to support the veterans of our great country. Bid now!!

HEY Everyone it's only money right , to have such a beautifully made piece of history is beyond that . Without wanting one of these , then your just not as bigger NAA nut as the rest of us . I had a real hard time paying 3-4 hundred over the list price when I was able , sold things I wish I didn't (done that numerous times in the past)  but still wouldn't trade those things back and not because of the price its because I'm NUTS , Ha ha ha . But FOUR Kingt your institutional aren't you admit it ? Ha ha ha .

Hey OV,  If four puts me mentally over the top, then I guess I'll have to own up to it.  There are probably people in this world who have thought that I am one can short of a six-pack but since my wife owns two of them, I guess we're two of a kind and belong together.(She's an NRA sister)
Here's a real kicker for you--we shoot the two with regular serial numbers and preserve the commemoratives.  After all, they're made to be used---right?
We put C-Vang grips on the shooters and they're lots of fun.  We're retired and too old to worry about it.  So, what the hell.

LONG LIVE THE SECOND AMENDMENT!!!

Think someone should have a better understanding of the definition of 'fair market value'.  It is definately not what one considers to be something's worth but what the marketplace considers it to be worth.  No better place to get a sense of 'fair market value' than at auction.

I agree.
What is the "fair market value" of a 64 Vett?

Buick8.
That one has been running off and on for a couple of years now.
I think I have see it not reach the reserve even though the bid was $2150.00.
He has a high reserve on it.
