I got an email from Chong last night that my grips (Black) were complete and shipping out today.

So he is knocking out his orders quickly.  I am really anxious to get these on the Black Widow!

I think I need to go get some Flitz SS polish for the widow.

Got mine today for my Black Widow.  Perfect fit.  Chong is truly a craftsman.

M82, what flavor wood are your grips mad of?

Also, tell me what you think about that laser.  Is the clamp realy realy secure? How accurate can you be using the laser?

m82a1pa

It's called lacewood.  It's much prettier than in the picture due to the flash, I think.  I haven't had a chance to fire the gun since I installed the laser.  I'll be heading to gun range in the next week or two since the weather is a lot warmer now.

backporch22

Got mine today, perfect fit.

45flint

Don''t get me wrong but it is surprising to me that these grips can fit so exactly when there are variations between guns.  I guess if you look at it he is only fiting the back of the grip and the front is open for variations?

nakagawa

I had to sand the recoil shield down a bit as it was interfering with my cylinder turning just slightly.

stripey

I received my black grips last week, but only got around to cleaning up my Black Widow and installing the new grips yesterday.

The grips are fantastic work; by far the best I've tried (Std Big Rubber, Big Rosewood, Boot Grip, Slip-on Pug Grip).

General Info you should know if  you are considering upgrading to these:

   1)  Count on a little sanding/filing of the recoil shield.  It seems that the alignment is off just a few degrees with respect to not being "perfectly" parallel to the cylinder face.

   2)  With the grip serving as recoil shield, you can't see the cartridges well.  This makes it much more difficult to align the hammer onto one of the safety rest notches in the cylinder.  This will take some getting used to.

Heya, Chong. I'm late to the party, but do you think you will make a line of grips for the Sidewinder? If so, what materials can we pick from? I'm really partial to g10, but I know how difficult g10 can be to work with. g10 has been known to destroy tooling bits. It's also a very hazardous material to work with because the fine dust is known to cling to the alveoli of the lungs.

I've tried searcing for Chong Vang grips, but only get forum references. Is there a link to his site? Thanks!
