Not mine.  Man this auction escalated quickly.  I was watching hoping to maybe get it for 800 - 1200.  Boy was I wrong. At 1600 and not even reached reserve yet.  Just bought my first mini 3 weeks ago.  It is a BJII.  Now I also have a sidewinder and pug.  Addicting for sure.  But i just cant do a ranger yet.    Any way,  good luck to whom ever.

That seller has listed his Ranger numerous times. I think his reserve must be 2000 or better - he's never been over about 1700 to my knowledge.

Sure will be some disappointed folks if the Ranger ever comes back!

Auction ended at $1,651.01.  Not sure if this ranger will ever sell.

I can't believe people are still willing to pay $1,600 for one.
For that money you can pick up a fully functioning S&W model 1, 1st issue in fair condition. That gun has great historical significance and yet cost no more than a Ranger. Strange.

Reserve wasn't met at $2600.00 , this guys has got to be a ..................... well you fellas fill in the blank .  :o :o :o :o

I think he is trying to make himself feel good. "I got and it is worth a bunch!".
Bidding ended at $2600 and reserve not reached.

I've been out of the loop for quite awhile... but I'm about ready to make myself feel good if $2600 bidders are still out there!

I have shot... and carry my Sidewinder, but cringe at the notion of adding "Owner Fired" or "Lightly Used" to the description of my Ranger! (I'm hopelessly honest)

However... owning a Safe Queens is not my style!

I just retreived my NIB Beretta limited production Gold Rush Deluxe Rifle from my LGS, where I was just trying to recover my investment on a consignment sale! Pic is my rifle, as posted by the seller.

I guess now I have really fancy new hunting rifle to put in the scabbard!  :o

Since my heirs will probably sell my collections on a "make an offer" basis, I've accepted the reality that I might as well sell them myself, and have fun with the rest of my retirement!  ;D

Beautiful Colt Lightening repro.  What caliber?
Had an origional in 44-40 that I inherited. Broken firing pin but other than that in really fine shape. Sold it to a "Cowboy" shooting aficionado who was overjoyed to have the real deal.

CavScout

It is 45Colt... although not an original cambering, I've loaded a lot of 44-40 and 38-40... including for an original Lightning. It was always a pain resizing for reliable cycling through both revolvers and carbines at CAS... without extra effort adjusting the dies. So, I opted for a straight wall case, and can use carbide sizing dies!

We can move this to the "Other Guns" category, if more info is desired.

It finally sold.
The last time the high bid was $2600.00 and the reserve was not met.
This time some one was playing around and bid $2525.00, met the reserve and won the Ranger.
Now we will see if he pays for it. 8)

WOW and I think it was a worked piece also by that I mean it wasn't a safe queen . But like Unc_Lee said lets see if he gets paid .  :)

$2525 is a ridiculous amount to pay for a Ranger that is not even a special edition.  My wife and I have two engraved special editions with special serial numbers that ran $1700 and $1675, a far cry below $2525.  I think I'm done collecting Rangers at four.  Any more will bust my bank.

$2525....wow......i only have 2

A Ranger is worth nothing (except the pride of ownership) until the sale is complete and you have the money in hand.   8)

I don't mean to argue with sound logic... but I think we Ranger owners could safely count on a completed sale, with money in hand, at a legit gun dealer... if we asked for the price still listed by NAA! ::)

Uncle_Lee

Maybe.
If your dealer knew what it was.
Kelly Blue Book lists the Ranger at $425.00 if it is in 100% condition.
If the dealer goes by Blue Book and a lot of them do, you wouldn't get the $499.00.

More money than sense.

CavScout

Again... no argument with your facts! I'm assuming Blue Book only surveys brick-and-mortar gun dealers, and formal auctions?

If I had been fortunate enough to have inherited one of Ed McGivern's revolvers... I would walk away from a dealer... or auction house that went to Blue Book to determine sale value!

My fault... I should have defined the gun dealer as one who routinely deals with collectable firearms... and willing to do legitimate research on recent sales.

Of course, that class of dealer would probably charge a higher % commission... and maybe a wash?

My interest for entering this thread was to share my internal struggle with deciding to sell my Ranger...

I enjoy Having it in my collection, as I have enjoyed the many Top-Break S&W's I've owned... including an original uncut Schofield.

Unlike most of my other modern built firearms, I have not enjoyed range-time with my Ranger.

And sadly, acknowledging my heirs will probably make a beeline to that Blue Book dealer!  :-[

Thus... If I can convert my few safe queens into fun range toys... I'm about ready to take the chaff for asking bloated pricing at online auction sites!  :-\
