The hand or pawl is on the left so it has to go right.  that is direction all the cylinders in NAA guns come out on.

Colts are easier to load from the right side. IMO

Is there anyone that spoke for a Sidewinder that no longer wants theres? I would be happy to step it and take delivery....

Unless he/she is suggesting that it is easier to load while it is pointing at him/her.

Imagine if the loading gate was on the left side of this Colt. I favor the Sidewinder's right side opening cylinder.

Although the discussion was relating to swing out cylinders, Whitehorse did not specify a "swing out to the right" Colt, only that it load from the right.

his/hers/its original post was a colt snub not just a colt. he/she/it edited it later after others had posted as she/he/it is wont to do .

I'm guessing the design goal for the Sidewinder was to maximize the use of current parts and assembly fixturing... in order to keep the production costs within the targeted bracket.

All cartridge revolvers have some mechanism for loading and unloading.

All that I'm aware of require two hands to perform the tasks.

Most techniques have been learned/developed for right handed shooters... left handed shooters have adapted their own techniques.

A new design will bring the evolved new techniques for efficient function.

Whether right or left dominate is better will not be resolved here.

Reloading speed is only an issue if you anticipate (and are mentally prepared) for a continued engagement.

Many past engagements have resulted in the defending shooter quickly cycling all rounds without a hit. Adrenaline does scary things! Fight or flight will be decided at the moment.

Rumor has it that Colt was a left handed person and built the Colt design with the loading gate on the right, as it is obviously a design for a left handed person.  (fire the gun left handed, flip open the gate with the right, work the ejector rod, and reload with the gun in your strong, left, shooting hand.

Colt designed his gun to be held in the left hand while loading with the right hand while on horseback. Back in those days they considered left-handedness a mental deficiency. Kids would get their left hand slapped with a ruler if they tried writing with it. The military taught everyone to shoot right-handed and right-handed only.

Works for me, I'm left handed!

NICE PICTURES   WHERE?????????????????

flowder

I sent a email to Sandy about a 32 Ranger a while back but it was nixed and the converstion went no where other than to say the Ranger was too expensive to produce. It would be neato for a 32 revolver in a Sidewinder. I doubt the Sidewinder will become a 32 offering. ....and those pics are where?

grayelky

Mainstreet-

You found the dreaded "Start New Thread (within a thread)" link. This thread is posted within another thread. In order for your topic to receive the views it deserves, you will need to go back to the "Topics" page, go allllllllll the waaaaayyyyyyyyyy to the bottom of the page where you will once again see a "Start New Thread" link. THAT one will actually post your thread on the front page. As to those pictures......

I found that dreaded thing myself and it is rather disconcerting.

I, too, am a member of the club. Admin is working to make some changes so this problem will go away.

I am not buying for caliber.

I am buying just to spend what little money I have before I die so my two worthless nephews don't get it.

Uncle lee-

I can help with that. Send me your money and guns (once you are finished with them, of course!), that way your worthless nephews will never get a chance to waste your money or sell your guns to a pawn shop.

I assure you, my 2 sons will appreciate them once I have finished with them!
