I want a "Hogleg" version.

   6" or 9 1/2" barrel

I like the little red dots.

I just found a word that don't turn into little red dots. So I changed it to one that would.

Please do not put a "safety lock" with key on this ...just sayin'

I would really like a BW looking sidewinder.

The BW is just the right length in terms of CCW and ballistics and it has a usable set of sights.

I also really like the look of the barrel with the venting.

Please Sandy make a BW version of the sidewinder.

cedarview kid

Wow, very nice. It doesn't look like the swing-out mechanism makes it any larger. VERY COOL. It does look like it's a lefty, though--but that's okay with me. I do just as many things left hand as I do right.

Here's the quesiton, though: .22LR conversion cylinder ?

I will also take two. Hopefully low serials and consecutive. Or maybe get one of the serials to match my King/Queen/Riverboat matched serials.

chopprs

Sandy says that they will offer a conversion cylinder but it will include the crane as the cylinder is not removable so we can count on an extra cylinder being quite expensive. I can see a conversion gun costing eight hundred bucks.

capn

Wow! This was a nice surprise this morning!!

I think the right swing out cylinder will work just fine. I'm right-handed.

   Concur with previous comments:

+ prefer non-fluted cylinder for magnum rounds (fluted would be ok for LR cylinders)

+ would like Pug sights with tritium post

+ would recommend initial barrel length of 1-5/8" or 2" for CCW

RogueTS1

I believe Cavscout is probably correct as to why the cylinder swings out to the "incorrect" side in reference to most other revolvers.

The piece that rotates the cylinder sits on the left side and moving that would be a major redesign in the frame making this weapon too expensive I believe.

Is the right swinging cylinder a deal breaker? No way just take a little getting used to. I will be taking at least two on early bird.

I'm in!  Wow looks great!

PLEASE - make it 7 1/2" or more so it's available right away in California!  THANKS!

coopercdrkey

Look how deeply set the grip screw and escutchon are set-  seems like a fatter grip than a normal magnum frame.  I wonder if the regular accessory grips will be usable?

I second the XS big dot sight idea.

45flint

I think the grip is a normal magnum.

45flint

Interesting if you look at the last picture the cylinder shield is put on the normal frame not machined in?  Probably another way to keep cost under control.

westerly1965

Oh Boy!  That looks great.  I think its time to move back to the United States!

Seems the cylinder pin pushes in & has to be exposed on both sides to grab it.

Never had an issue with the original NAA cylinder pins. Would prefer a stand alone cylinder pin and understand the need for the additional securing of the front of the pin. Just hope the shortening of the barrel is not limited because of it. . . .

   .

Sandy, thanks for continuing to push the envelope. Hope you don't mind my suggestions.

bud

The reason the cylinder swings out on the right side is because I am left handed.

ruprecht

Nice!  Definitely want one of these, with the LR conversion if it's available as Early Bird.

cedarview kid

I'm not in Canada, but I really want a longer barrel, too. Maybe not a six-incher, but longer. Maybe two inches, like a Black Widow. Mabye I'll have to hit up the custom shop!

backporch22

EVERYBODY ALREADY WANTS TO CHANGE IT.  I LOVE IT AND KNOW IT WILL BE RIGHT WHEN OFFERED.

Sandy-

Thank you for making the forum the first public viewing of your new toy. Not only am I in for 2 in the early bird offering, I can see these becoming a regular order item from my distributors!! I have already sent a note to one of them making him aware of it, and to flag it for my store as soon as they arrive.

For my $.20 worth (inflation, don't cha' know), I prefer the fluted cylinder. It is a breeze to see when the hammer is in the safety notch: You don't see a flute on either side of the top strap. I do like the recoil shield, and putting the notches in there is a nice touch. I look forward to seeing some of the models as you approach production. I am confident the contours will be much more pleasing than the prototype pictures show. I also like the post front sight. It makes getting a fast shot easier, and that is what the mini revolvers are really about- self defense. Perhaps if the Sidewinder is offered with a 4" or longer barrel, maybe it would be feasible to add better sights, such as the BW.

   All-

As in previous Early Bird offerings, any one in the metro Atlanta area who wants to use my shop, I will do the transfers at no charge.

   Admin-

Nice pics. Congrats on fighting the urge to post the pics, and getting to keep your job...

want one in 22lr.  i want to shoot this thing A LOT!  also ditto the comments about bw sights and 2 inch barrel.  i'm in.

theysayimnotme

"I'm hopeful that the overall barrel length of the initial model will be somewhat shorter than that of the prototype(s). It is easy to make the length larger and I'm certain we'll offer this model with several barrel length choices."

That should solve the barrel length question. They should make one called the Kalifornia Model with a barrel just long enough (I believe 4 ") to avoid the need to be on the approved list. It might also need a different grip to meet the length requirement.

I assume the bump on the rear of the frame is for a fixed sight that will not be blocked by the hammer. If this is so it might be a good idea to add to all of the minis without a rear sight.

Dinadan

The wait for the first photos is over.

Now comes the wait for the Early Bird orders.

I wonder if the LR cylinder option will be available on the Early Birds.

And if the Sidewinder will be available in LR only as a conversion or if LR

only will be an option. I would like one of each, I think.

Note that Sandy said NAA's manufacturing facility is currently running at full-steam.

I have seen several comments recently about NAAs being difficult to find. (I have made

a couple myself.) Now add the Sidewinder into the production process and I expect

"several months" is probably an optimistic estimate for when they will make it

   into shops im my area.

westerly1965

Theysay ~ You are correct it is 4 " in Kali and the grip does not matter.  The law says barrel of 4 inches and overall length of something like 6 inches but it will easily make it if they put on a 4 inch barrel.  If they do that I will have two of them as quickly as my LGS can acquire them.

bleak_window

I agree with others who would like to see it offered with better sights, Pug and BW styles, and in 3 versions; Mag-only, LR-only, and conversion.

harkamsu

A Black Widow looking version would be awesome, but at this point I'm just glad they're making a side opening crane cylinder .22 magnum revolver.

nordmann

Looks awesome! Congrats! I'll take a 22lr cause this is gonna make one heck of a plinker.

I am excited. Price will determine how excited. It sure is a good looking piece of gun. Jim

I like the overall look. I would prefer a ramp front site to reduce the possibility of snagging during a draw from pocket carry.

One of my gripes about my S&W Chief's Special is that the ejector rod is not long enough to completely push the cases out of the cylinder. It would be nice if the Sidewinder were constructed to do that, even if it takes a 2 inch barrel to extend beyond the pin.

If they aren't going to make a speed-loader themselves, NAA should allow HKS to measure the final prototype to get speed-loaders into the market ASAP.
