CCI still best ammo for standard .22 Mini Mag with 1 1/8" barrel?

I've been carrying it around with the larger rubber grip for 20+ years with CCI Maxi-Mag HP+V ammo.  Is this still the best-performing .22 WMR ammo for this piece?  I've heard Hornady also makes a good round.  CCI has been difficult to find lately. Any others you would mention?

TO ARMS , TO ARMS the liberal socialists are coming . Load and prime your weapons . Don't shoot till you see their UN patches or the Obama bumper stickers , literally . And shoot any politician that says he wants to help you or us .

Around here I sometimes find Hornday but not much CCI

Lately I'm using whatever I can find.  If this ammo mess ever clears up I'll go back to being choosey.

I use the CCI/Speer Gold Dot short barrel personal protection stuff.  You can find it on-line (ammoseek.com).

+1 on the CCI Gold Dot. Hornady also makes their Critical Defense ammo designed for a 2" barrel. I have read Winchester makes their PDX rounds for 2" barreled guns, but I have never been able to locate any, and that goes back to prior e shortage started. There is some discussion as to whether the mentioned ammo has any velocity advantage. What is not up for discussion is the much smaller muzzle flash.
Guns are a lot like parachutes:

I agree that CCI Gold Dot is probably the best or close to it. But MaxiMags are still a darned good  choice, in my opinion.
