Holy cow, really? Halloween doesn't work like April Fool's Day now, does it?

seeker

I just saw that on Facebook  ,never thought I'd see the day they were made again 😊

Wow, that's cool. For those who have both, which is stronger, this or Sidewinder?

OK, where does the line start?  ;D :D ;) :)
I betcha this one won't catch me looking!

Kestrel

My prayers have been answered! I guess that all things come to he/she who waits.

See Sandy's Oct soapbox. Big news coming in Nov.

lefty dude

WOW! my next NAA, can't wait.

Zekepup

I'm in ....can't wait to see  what the redesigned latch looks like.

PaducahMichael

The latch is shown in the link in the first post.

It's not nearly as pretty as the old Ranger, but that won't stop me from buying!

Missed the first run of Rangers looks like I might get a shot at one yet.  Or maybe 2 ;) and dangit I had just settled on a pair of black widows.....*sigh*

Wonder what this will do to the price of current Rangers?

Could this mean a 22 lr conversion that will fit the old Ranger!?!

Price point could be interesting for sidewinder, could cabbage that pistol, Ranger is just better looking and functioning pistol?

Kentucky Kevin

Still sexy, can't wait for the gunblast review, as he'll do a comparsion between the two.

The new latch may not be as pretty, but will still be just as functional. If the finished product doesn't look too weird, I may get one. I still kick myself for not getting one of the originals last time though. My LGS had checked online for me back then, and said yes, he could get me one, but I balked at the price. Oh well. Live and learn.

cfsharry

Hard to believe the latch alone would make that much of a difference in cost. Still have an automatic star extractor? Retail price? Early bird?

theysayimnotme

Still needs a longer barrel for the Demokratik Peoples' Republik of Kalifornia.

It is hard to believe? That original latch must have been a hand fitting nightmare or tolerances too exacting to manufacture economically?  Price point will be interesting.

Wait a minute..............
I don't have my 2.5" Sidewinders yet.....................

Looks like the Breaktop just bottomed out.
Sandy could have given us a heads up so we could have got a premium for them.
Oh well, guess I wasn't going to sell them anyway or I would have...

How about a case hardened latch?

That was my thought, too.  But, then I remembered there being a post about some big news in November and figured this was it.

Wonder what the pricing will be?

Well I have the name for it....
We can call it the "Latchtop" !!!!
That way it won't get mixed up with the "Breaktop".

The price WILL be high.

I want a LR cylinder.  Use shorts and they will all pop out when you open it up.

I does look much easier to open for reloading.   Is there a picture of it closed?  I am concerned it might open up putting it in a holster or just the pocket.   Pulling it out and the cylinder open could be a problem.  I also wonder if the latch could hang up coming out of the pocket.

Sandy keeps finding ways to take my money, I hate that guy! Lol

Years ago a presidential candidate was asked about gun control. He answered "I've got more guns than I need but not as many as I want."  Somehow this breaktop reminded me of that.

Kentucky Kevin

Z I wondered the same things

CCH latch would be a nice custom touch!

I have not seen the latch, but I am fully confident your concerns have been addressed fully. I cannot envision Sandy approving the gun for production before it has been verified fully as to functioning as it should, under all conditions.        But then, there is nothing like putting any product into the hands of the American consumer to find the one, itsybitsy, teeny tiny item that got overlooked!

Edited to correct spell checker/grammar checker!

wonder if there will be a early bird?  Since I have a unfired "first generation" break top I think and "second generation" would make a nice pairing.   How about that for rationalizing a purchase!!!

bill_deshivs

This gun should be made in .22 LR. Breaktop revolvers don't do well at all with high-pressure cartridges. They loosen the latch prematurely.

Diogenes

SAAMI spec for 22lr and 22mag is the same: 24,000psi.

Would like conversion cyl if possible though!!!

Works for me, but, I can be easily swayed when it comes to buying guns! 😉

I'm gonna pull an "Uncle Lee" this time - I am buying a pair of 'em.

I passed on the first break top, waiting till I could get one that included  a 22lr cylinder. I think this time it will fly, so will probably do a repeat.
I have a whole pile of 22 mag cylinders sitting here, but mostly just shoot 22lr..
I like to think, cheaper ammo, and more guns.
Just me...
