External trigger modification on Mini?

Has anyone tried to bob the hook of the Mini trigger? Other than a cool look I fail to see what purpose that hook serves. All it does for me is to chew my middle finger. I am considering using a Dremel to grind off the hook (the entire section I have blackened in the photo) and to smooth the new bottom of the trigger with the same diamond nail file I used to true up the muzzle previously. Does anybody see how this mod could possibly weaken the trigger or create an unsafe carry or shooting condition?

Taking some of the point off would be nice , like you said some people hold it differently and it does stick ya . It acts more like a guide so the trigger doesn't push off to the side over time , long time . Hope that helps . :)
TO ARMS , TO ARMS the liberal socialists are coming . Load and prime your weapons . Don't shoot till you see their UN patches or the Obama bumper stickers , literally . And shoot any politician that says he wants to help you or us .

Cvang grips stops that and you don't have to grind away your trigger.....

I did that to mine as soon as I got it.  Didn't take it all the way down, maybe half way and smoothed it out.  Much better in my opinion.

I have never actually looked very close to that area. Could that portion be there to prevent something from entering the opening and possibly causing a jam? There has to be a reason the engineers designed it that way.

Thanks for all the comments and suggestions. I'm leaning toward a partial grind job as I think the comment that the hook might prevent something working under the trigger is a valid one. Before I do that I'm going to try something else first that's so stupid it just might work. Don't want to reveal until I try it, like I said it's stupid.

Success. First, I decided not to grind away any of the curved bottom of the trigger, I merely dehorned it with the diamond file, emery papers and crocus cloth. Next, I put a bandaid on my finger before shooting to prevent the trigger from chewing it. Stupidly simple, but it works. Now 50 rounds is a lot more fun. Think I'll try those boot grips too.

The Mini-Master oversized rubber grips will also move your finger down just enough that the trigger "hook" is no longer an issue.

Thanks Jay for another good option to think about. The pics were very helpful. I don't know which of the two, mini-mag or boot, will be my choice if I decide to go with bigger grips. I'd like to run across them at a gun show or gun shop so I could at least see how they feel. I'm the only guy in my gun club (150 members) who has a mini so my options are somewhat limited. Thanks to all of you who responded, this forum is great.

Resurrecting an old thread: I've thought about this too - the spur prevents me from holding the grip the way I'd like as the trigger won't depress far enough before it digs into my finger. I too was considering removing the hook altogether, but I think I'll try a "de-horn" first...

Don't have an issue with the trigger. However I didn't like the sharp edges on the barrel and so I rounded them off.
