Some guys use air gun pellets in the Companion. What are the tricks? They are 5.5mm and just slip through the bore. I worry about them coming loose in the cylinder. 3 that look promising --  http://www.pyramydair.com/s/p/Eun_Jin_22_Cal_32_4_Grains_Pointed_110ct/600  ---  http://www.pyramydair.com/s/p/H_N_Piledriver_Pellets_22_Cal_30_Grains_Domed_150ct/1224   --- http://www.pyramydair.com/s/p/H_N_Rabbit_Magnum_II_22_Cal_24_69_Grains_Cylindrical_Solid_200ct/783   I found some hard to find parts for another rehab gun at Pyramid Air.Good company. That should be another topic.

Will the over ball lube hold them in?
What is the diameter of NAA .22 bullet?  Thanks--O&G

I'm not a ballistics kind of guy, but, there is not a lot of resistance offered by ball lube. I've got a tin of Premier 22 caliber pellets for my "pest" pistol that I got at Wal-Mart, I think for about $8-9 for 500. I did a field test on my LR Companion, (I stuck it in the barrel) and it only offered a minimal amount of resistance, I was able to press it through the with a very minimal amount of effort. They are the hollow point hunting pellet put out by Crosman. I'm not sure if you popped it with a light hammer tap or pressed it with a clamping device, then load it skirted end forward, it might work. Bullet lube, by itself, I think would allow too much of the force to be lost with ignition, and you'd have the potential of stacking up the pellets right in front of the cylinder.

I use the Daisy flat nose 5.5mm pellet in my Super Companion. I epoxy a .177 steel BB in the rear hollow cavity. I also use an over powder card. The card is a gas seal because the pellet is slightly under sized. I make my powder cards from old fiber egg cartons (not the Styrofoam type), using a 7/32 leather punch. This card fits the chamber and rest on the top of the powder cylinder step. Plenty of room on top for lube to hold the pellet in place.
The key to success is the over powder card.
On firing the steel BB expands the pellet skirts to the barrel rifling, providing greater accuracy. Also the BB gives the pellet added weight.
Works for me.

Lefty --Thanks for the ideas. You will fit in just fine. Sounds like you are a student of Rube Goldberg.  The BB in the skirt is genius. I wondered if the loader would expand the skirt when pressing in the pellet. As for the over powder card it probably helps push the BB in. I use lubed wads in other Cap and Ball. Try lubing the card before punching them out .  I will try that. I played with making lubed over powder wads for Mini. I got Gamo .22 air gun cleaning pellets. Soaked them in Black Powder lube then used a razor to cut them to length. Idea needs work.   Thanks  O&G

The small OPC does not need to be lubed, there is not much surface to contact the bore and lube. I prefer to top lube the projectile as this will give the best distribution of the lube.
I am also a Cap & Ball shooter, shooting CAS/SASS as a Frontiersman category. I have both Pietta 1860's & 1851 that are tuned for competition. I need no wads when shooting the CAS/SASS C & B's as I use APP as my Sub-Black powder, It makes it's own lube.
I only use the OPC when using other projectiles than the rebated 30 gr. NAA bullets. The rebated base of the NAA is made to seal the powder chamber of the projectile chamber. A tight fit is maintained when we compress the bullet with the loading tool. The NAA is a .224" diameter bullet. The chambers are .223". I have slugged the chambers and measured with a Micrometer. I have not slugged the bore, but assume it to be approx. .222" as most 22 calibers are.
I use Triple 7 3F for now, trying to find some Goex or Swiss 4F.
