Any "Oldtimers" Here Who Bought Their NAA Mini Before 1978?

I bought my first NAA .22LR Mini Revolver in July, 1978 which I still have.

There was a small gun shop that opened up that same year and I rode my motorcycle passed it every day on my way back and forth to work.

I finally stopped to check them out after about a month or so.

When I went in, I was blown away by this little revolver/derringer that they had in their display case and it was a little jewel just like they are now.

It was $125.00 and that was a ton of money in those days. I knew they were asking a premium over retail but I bought it regardless as I knew no one else had one!

That gun shop was gone within a year but like I said, I still have it and was wondering if any of you folks have one that you bought way back when or before mine?

RogueTS1

Not me; I was still in elementary school at that time.

I bought my first NAA .22LR mini-revolver in March of 1977 at the local sports/gun shop in Janesville WI. I paid $114.47 for it, and still have it.

bill_deshivs

I bought 3 short models in 1976-1977. I still have 2 of them.

cedarview kid

Not me. Even in the 1970's, I think the government frowned upon 10-year-olds buying guns.

grayelky

I got my first, a 22 LR, in 1977. I carried it until I retired from the police department in Dec, 2002. I still have it, but it has since gone through some changes. It was returned to the factory for the safety upgrade, and I had a fellow "scratch" on it 7 or 8 years ago.

While living in Orange County, California about the year 1982 I got my first NAA.

cedarview kid

Wow, I feel like a kid now. I didn't get my first gun until about 1984. First handgun about 1985 or 1986. First NAA in 1998.

I guess I did get a Daisy rifle in around 1978 or so, tho.

I bought my first in February 1977. It was a 22 short and I still have it in its original case. When I saw that little gem in the gun store I developed a sudden case of 'I gotta have it', and I can resist anything but temptation! Mrs Santa named it 'DINKY PLINKY'. I love that little gun.  I traded an in old 30.06 for 'DINKY PLINKY' at the gun store where I became the only owner it has ever had. DINKY PLINKY was brand new.

Uncle_Lee

I saw a write up on them in an "Easyriders" magazine. The story told how many you could hide and where to hide them.

I had to have a pair so I went to the local gun shop and ordered a pair. It took over a month for him to find where to get them but he did so I have them now.

Picked up my B ser # in 76 or 75 with the buckle while still in the Marines - wore it on many flights both in the US and International with my shirt tucked in, out in the open

Very interesting to think about the history knoweldge of you "old timers" regarding NAA minis!  I fell asleep on the couch after reading the posts, and dreamed about the year 2046--another 34 years down the road.....

NAA forum "old timers" are all dead and gone.  Someone posts "Anyone here buy a mini before 2012?"  Some of us send hologram texts from our I-Watches of our ancient-but-working minis, sent from our underground bunkers (President Kardashian and Vice President Malia Obama have outlawed all metal objects except jewelry.)  A rusty Sidewinder is shown, and impromtu bids reach the thousands before the Chinese Secret Police (contracted by our United Socialist Republik of America International) jam our illegal hologram/text network until NRA President of Freedom Resistance Sandy Chisholm gets us back up online.......

   And then I woke up.

gebe

Whew! I'm so glad I'm not the only "old timer" here! Very interesting posts all!

   Grayelky,

   Nice little piece!

Grayelky, Kevin, Bill deshivs, Uncle lee & Flyinbiker2001,

I thought I would have the oldest mini here but I was wrong!

   Flyinbiker2001,

Nice! I was also in the Marines in 1968-1970 and in a air transport squadron that flew troops in and out of Nam. Semper Fi!

   Swolf,

Trust me, 34 years will go faster than you think!

swolf

The 22lr on top was made 3/23/95

The 22s on bottom was made 2/17/79

I don't remember how , where, price, ect. Both pistols were rebuilt to like knew last year at NAA.

chopprs

They are nice.

How much did they charge you to go through them?

I wonder in the future when they become really rare what the loss of value will be for an old gun that was switched to the newer style cylinder.

My guess is not much. I can't see them being worth thousands but I may be wrong. Look at the Break-Top!

timkel

The shipping cost was higher then the NAA charge. They replaced many parts and polished everything.

grayelky

Not only are they nice little pair of guns, the grips are awesome!
