I remember a thread about trimming the trigger spur but don't remember either what it is for or if there is a down side to cutting it of.  Anyone know?

OV-1D

Can't remember either , like I would anyways , but trimming the so-called back hook wouldn't be a problem as long as you don't go past the frame of the gun for the trigger to still be guided by the frame when pulled . Slowly remove material of course .  ;) ;)

Must make sure the hammer still has enough mass to fire the primer though.

They are talking trigger  not hammer  so the hammer  mass should stay the same

To keep it from mashing into the middle finger when you pull the trigger.

Thanks Uncle.  I know why I want to grind it off.  Why is it on there in the first place?

I really don't know,

Just a guess, to keep anything from getting behind the trigger and binding it.??
End of a key, a BB, a mashed M&M, etc.

Maybe to keep it from getting forced sideways and bending the side plate. It is held in place by only screw in the middle of the plate.??

That is the way triggers on cartridge derringers have always been made??

Thanks all.  Why it is there gets chalked up to the great questions of the universe like how does warm get through a glass window on a winter day without making the glass warm?

RogueTS1

Yep, sorry. I totally missed that.

Cold day.  Sit by a window.  The sun warms you up, can even get hot.  Touch the glass window and the glass is cold.  How does the heat get through the window without making the glass warm?

OV-1D

The answer lies with Unc's meditation man as with the answer to your question of WHY IS IT THAT WAY on the trigger spur .  ;)  Dang .  ;)

It's there for the same reason the rib is on top of the barrel. The Freedom Arms gun didn't need it. I doubt anyone knows. My question is why is the cylinder & therefore the frame longer than the cartridge? It is slightly tighter in the front & may start forcing the bullet down but I can insert the bullet up to the case on my .22LR & .22 Magnum. On the short the entire case easily goes in. It seems the guns could be made smaller & lighter.
How about titanium?

shwurr

Spur reason.

The glass passes the infrared in the spectrum and that is why the glass stays cold..

On the other hand, glass blocks the ultraviolet part of the spectrum and that is why your Transitions lens do not darken in the car on a sunny day.

to be precise, the ice does not weigh as much as the weight of the water it displaces. Same principle as a boat.

Please let me be more precise with my question. Every thing on earth contracts as it gets colder.  Water is the only thing that expands when it freezes.  Why does water expand causing ice to float when everything else goes the other way?

zburkett

Shwurr, that I understand.

Once in a while when I really don't know the answer to something I ask my wife.
On this one I asked her.
Why does ice float when dropped into water??

"Cause it don't sink."

There now we know the answer....

Ice skating in the bottom of a pond would suck. Probably make you want to go home and look at your mini trigger instead.
