Should I buy Sidewinder or NAA-22MC

Hello, I am having a hard time deciding between the 1.5 inch barrel Sidewinder or the NAA-22MC. I was wanting the Sidewinder and had did my research I thought. I figured the extra half inch barrel would add a little more FPS and according to NAA figures it does add about 50 FPS to 22 LR and around 120 FPS more on magnum loads. If I get the NAA-22MC I plan to get it in 1.5 inch barrel as well (1 5/8 inch). I have read online and also seen some online reviews saying that sometime ejecting the casings can be a problem. Is there anything I need to know before I make my decision? Some of you will recommend the PUG but it only has the 1 inch barrel plus I do not think it comes with an extra 22LR cylinder. Whatever gun I purchase I will want both the 22LR and 22 Mag cylinders. Thank you for any insight you may have on this.

My vote goes to the Black Widow. Real grip 2" Barrel....

I agree the Black Widow is the better piece . ;)

First off,,, Lemon - Welcome to the crew.
You can get a Pug with both cylinders..

(my opinion only)
When you get down that short there is no need to be concerned about the 1/2 inch.
Yes, the Sidewinder takes some practice to get the ejection down smooth. The cylinder needs to be set just for the ejector to clear the recoil shield.
With a little practice, and a loaded spare cylinder, you can reload a regular mini faster than a Sidewinder.
If you are using it for self defense you will not be reloading anyway. For self defense you need to carry two minis of some model. You might as well start with two of them for you will get them in the near future. Minis are habit forming.....

Yeah, like Unc said - Welcome Lemon to the Forum.  Pull up a chair and sit a spell around the fire, aim and pull the trigger when the conversation pulls you in; then reload and return fire when needed.  Glad to have you in camp.

Welcome to the forum Lemon.
I'm pretty sure the one you pick will be the right one for you, you really can't go wrong with any of them.

Lemon,
First welcome to the forum.

Any NAA you purchase you will be pleased with.  But why not get both?? You're going to sooner or later so do it now.

You will find that NAA minis tend to "multiply"

Don't fight the urge, just do it!!!!

My two cents worth; wait for the new Breaktop, (Ranger ll). Easier to reload than either of the others and just plain cool.

i think the magnum convertible is a good start for a first mini revolver. Its easier to change the cylinder than the sidewinder and it is faster to reload as Uncle Lee has said. I have gotten so im pretty fast swapping the magnum for the long rifle cylinder on a reload. I also have the sidewinder and break tops. The convertible is faster to reload than either of those because all you are doing is swapping cylinders. You can have a pocket holster made with a pouch for the extra cylinder.

cfsharry posted the same time i was. no matter what you do, grab a breaktop when they are released. who knows how long they will be in production.

As Heyjoe said, with a little practice the Minis, especially the Pug can be reloaded fairly quickly. Maybe not semi auto quickly but not far behind a swing out J frame revolver via speed strips and probably a little bit faster than an SAA which was and still is considered a self defense handgun.

Lemon-
Welcome aboard. Before answering your question, I have one: What will be the primary purpose of this mini? Just plinking? I prefer the 3" barrel Earl. I suspect the 4" Minimaster would be a lot of fun, and easy to hit the target. The Blackwidow would be a close second choice, as it would also carry fairly easily. Daily pocket carry? I shy away from the Sidewinder for daily carry, as they are a little bit heavier and a little bit bulkier than the standard mini, and with self preservation in my Ned, you gain nothing, in my opinion. There are a few on this board who will disagree, and for them, the SW works well. They have my blessings. I, too, will get one of the new Breaktops when they come out, but, if they are like the originals, I will likely not carry one, as once again, they will be bulkier than the standard mini. I have both the 1 1/8" and 1 5/8" guns, and carry them both. I cannot tell the difference in my pocket. The little ne'er barrel should provide a slight edge in velocity. The BW with its 2" barrel should give a slight edge over the 1 5/8" barrel. Since NAA has barrel lengths from 1" all the way up to 4", we each must decide what is long enough. For me, it is 1 5/8. Of course, I have not tried carrying my BW yet.......

Let us know what you decide. And then let us know when you get your second one, etc.

Welcome aboard Lemon. I also prefer the Black Widow but I've been looking at the Pug and the Wasp. I think the Wasp may be my next mini. Like many others I'm also waiting for the new Ranger.

Busy as they are, you might wait a long time...

I got more responses that I had counted on and I appreciate each one of you for giving your input. I had a little trouble getting back on here to reply (my fault) but here I am now. I placed my order for the sidewinder and it should arrive this week and possibly even today. As some of you have already mentioned about buying another NAA that was my thoughts as well. Usually I go for the compromise with cost but I decided to get the Sidewinder as I plan to keep it always and I can, as you have suggested, buy one of the other guns in the future. I do appreciate everyone's input. I have plenty of 22LR ammo but I have never given any thought to the 22 mag ammo but after some research I bought the Speer Gold Dot for carry. For target practice I am thinking about getting the CCI A22 200 round box. I have found it for $65 a box. There is really no cheap ammo for target practice in the Mag. Of course 99% of my target ammo will be LR but I do need to get the feel of the gun with Mag rounds.
