The local shops almost always have a good selection of minis in .22LR and .22 WMR to tempt me, but .32 ACP Guardians are as scarce as a sane presidential candidate.  I'm in SC and haven't found one in several weeks of searching.  Do any of you fine folks see the .32 ACP Guardians in your local shops?  I actually want two, if and when I find some.  Are they always in production or do I just need to wait until the factory cranks out another batch?  Many Thanks.

Why don't you ask the shops to order them for you?

It's too bad that our friends cant be here with us today

They are not that scarce. I have two & there are not that many sane candidates.

If you look at production runs you will find that Mini's make up most with relatively few Guardians being made.
I've never held or fired the .32 but have the .380 and it is a stone. Just too many better choices.

Thanks for the replies.  Banger's, Davidsons and Ellett Brothers are the distributors that the shops have checked, and I was told that they all show zero in stock.  Online sources that I've used before and checked, Bud's and Kentucky Gun, also show none in stock.  Maybe it's just between production runs.  With the Ranger II coming out I could be in for a long wait as I imagine that the new gun will tie up production space.

Hi cfsharry,
Can you give more detail as to what you mean by the Guardian 380 being "a stone"?  I've considered a Guardian 32 for a while, but have never held or shot either, so I would appreciate your input.  Thanks!

MR_22

I don't know what he meant by "stone" but I've always thought the Guardian .380 was a bit heavy. You've heard of a small pocket gun being called a "Pocket Rocket" right? I've thought of some of the small heavy steel guns as "Pocket Rocks". LOL. Still love the Guardian .380, though, but I find that I carry lighter weapons for carry.

ilex

I had a feeling that's what he meant by stone.  The Guardian 32 weighs just a little less than my Sig P238 and is smaller.  I guess it all comes down to how much weight you want in your pocket (if that is how you carry it).  I'm intrigued by it just because it is so small and I could carry it in my pocket.  Everything I've read about the Guardian 380 is it has quite a bit of recoil.  I'm unable to get it here in California, but I know of a Guardian 32 available here that I can get as a Private Party Transfer.  Not sure yet whether I want to jump to a different caliber. I also love my BW so much, I'm not sure if I would carry the Guardian.  Hard to make a decision when you can't actually hold one and see how it feels.  I'm sure that wouldn't hold back Uncle Lee though!

cfsharry

Mr 22 got it right. Just too heavy and bulky for the caliber as compared to other choices available.
Not sure, other than you just want it, why you would downgrade to .32 ACP. I also have the little Sig and it is a great gun. I rotate between it, a Colt Mustang and a Kimber Micro. Others on this forum have expressed their feeling the Guardian in .380 is a pain to shoot. I have not experienced that but feel it must be the gun's ergonomics as the .380 is not a heavy recoiling round.

Uncle_Lee

ilex, you are so correct.
I would buy the .32 Guardian. You may never have another chance to own one because of where you live.
You can always sell it or put it in a shoebox if it is not what you want...

What uncle_lee said. Buy it, if your checkbook will allow it.

As to a carry gun, the Kimber Solo is only a tiny bit larger than the P238, and it is in 9mm, making it an excellent choice. That is, f your State Government does not consider it too deadly.......

Well grayelky....apparently my State Gov does consider the Kimber Solo too deadly, as it is not on the approved Roster of Handguns.  Not a surprise actually.  Many gun manufacturers are refusing to jump through the hoops that California requires to get approval, and so very few new models of guns are available to us.  Our available guns to choose from are slowly dwindling away.  A sad and corrupt situation.  The Roster of Handguns is a backdoor gun control/confiscation move by the State. It's being challenged in the courts, but who knows the outcome.
