I recently purchased a 22 mag and I must say this little guy is a great CCW. Even though it could never replace my Sprinfield, it's great to have when carrying my 9mm isn't practical.  I prefer extra magazines over a BUG but if I did carry one this would definitely be it.

This is the real beauty of the mini revolver; it's so easy to carry. I have other guns, including a Glock 26,  but ti's a hasty to carry the 9mm when I can just drop the Naa in my right hand jeans pocket, It's the old classic case of 'the gun you have with you is better than the gun at home.'

Hello Clark.
Welcome to the group session.
I am Uncle Lee.
I am a Mini addict.

I have an idea for you...
Carry both the Springfield and the Mini.
If the Springfield hangs up for some unforeseen reason, you have a true backup and not just a magazine holding shells.

All mechanical things can and will, at some point, fail.

RkClark; welcome and I like the mini Boker folder in your photo. It is probably my most carried/used knife.

RKClark,
Welcome to the forum.  You will find that there are a great bunch of folks here.

OK,now that you have one Mini, when are you getting your next??

They do tend to multiply......rapidly.

We would like to hear how your mini does on the range.

Smart choice in stuff you have there including the knife.  Well done!!!

I guess I have NO HIPS to hold up most of the stuff you guys carry , dang my pants even with suspenders would have a hard time staying up like some of these gang bangers you see with no belts . I can't even stand my wallet anymore dragging around behind me , only a cancelled mini on the belt is enough for me . Now I know why Batman has a utility belt , all his stuff like youll .

Eagle Scout, chance favors a prepared mind, not scared of the Boogie-Man, if I see a "storm", I leave, only put my hand on gun(did not draw) twice in 20 years. Once outside a liquor store & once in a empty lot in Paducah, both at night. Both times the storm cloud quickly disappeared.

Kevin,
Eagle Scout?  I salute you!!!

Yes,being prepared and being aware of your surroundings goes a very long way in preventing a situation turning into an incident.

Glad to hear that all went well on both occasions.

Thanks guys, I'll shoot them soon. I learned 4 valuable lessons, cheaply, at the last IDPA
1. If you don't trust the ammo, don't carry it, &shoot it out once a year.
2. Always bring your gun box when you go shooting.
3. Restock your MRE case as soon as you empty it.
4.If you weigh #200 don't trust a small plastic stool

If you are thinking what I am thinking, then it ain't ammo.
I couldn't stand Altoids but I had some boxes.

Dog,

My mini shoots great! I have put 500+ rounds through it without a hiccup. At 7 yards I can maintain a 3" group. I'm very fond of the Hornady 30gr V Max bullet. Very accurate and deadly out of a short barrel.

I only carry this gun when carrying my 9mm isn't practical. Examples: Church, running, beach, and so on. Even though I do trust this gun in a life or death situation, my preference is to keep the 9 on me with a spare magazine. I can keep 9 in my 9 compared to 5 in my mini. Granted the mini is far more comfortable to carry but I believe a CCW should be comforting and not always the most comfortable.

Notice the O.C. in my arsenal? I think as a gun owner other CCW owners should be prudent to carry pepper spray when carrying a firearm. It is a very useful tool and should be used (if possible) before the firearms get drawn.

i agree, i carry pepper spray also.

I do not care for Pepper spray. If it comes to the point I need to pull the PS then it has already passed the point where my pistol/s or blade be drawn and then quite possibly used. I do not believe in less lethal stuff.

I think I'd rather have 4x loaded minis than 1x mini, 1x 9mm and 2x extra mags.

zburkett

In my experience the first shot is the one that counts.  When I have had to use a second shot I would have had the time to reload even if I had been carrying a single shot.  You can drop a mini into a tee shirt pocket.  I can't do that with any of my nines.  Again, in my experience every time I have had to use a gun it was when I didn't expect to need one.

heyjoe

pepper spray has its uses. not every situation requires or meets the threshold for deadly physical force.

Bigbird48

Pepper spray no thanks just more weight and bulk to carry round and not always effective. 8)

I understand what you are saying HeyJoe but that only applies if you are a cop. I guess if I do not feel the need to use as much force then I would pass on the PS and beat the enemy with the back or flat of my large blade. My experience with PS is it is not much more use than for clearing out the sinuses.

From a defensible legal standpoint, I've been told that if you have pepper spray as a non-lethal alternative when Trayvon turns and walks toward you, it looks much better in court.  You had the intention of stopping the threat without deadly force, and escalated to deadly force when it became necessary.  Carrying only a firearm suggests you had no intention but to kill a threat to resolve a situation.  I don't agree, but I carry the "less lethal" pocket knife when I carry concealed.  I have a cheap pepper spray keychain I drop in my pocket for the inner-city visits and the occasional "got any change mister" situations.  I have learned to use and am starting to carry a "glass breaker" pen, so I can get away from the potential leaky pepper spray canister.  The demand and market for "less lethal" stuff is growing, and cool alternative devices are cheap and easy to find.  This could be an interesting thread on its own!  "Show us your slungshot/kubaton keychain/slap-jack ballcap/defense pen, etc..."

RogueTS1

I guess it just depends on where you live. Our courts are not in the habit of evaluating one's intent in a self defense situation based upon what else they have or have not in their pockets. If a fight was justified in using a firearm then it was justified. No second guessing because he did not have some other form of non lethal in his pockets. We would just say you had your hands and feet and if that was not enough pull your "smoke wagon."

NAAMIN,
I tend to agree with you, best to have less than lethal alternative with you.

However,if the situation has already gotten bad, then by all means go to the next higher level of force.

Best thing though is not to be in that situation and if you see it start to develop  GTFO!!!

You seriously keep a Glock 26 on your ankle? That gun is far superior to a mini in a SD situation. Not to mention it's in one of the least accessible locations on your body. Wow!
Standing, sitting, driving, kneeling(please don't hurt my family[code phrase, drop, I'm shooting}) It is VERY ACCESABLE. ISIS incident in TX convinced me to go back to always having a 25yd + gun on me. I've timed myself, at worst it adds one second to my draw stroke
