I'll Say!  We need to keep the subject

   on gold panning, prospecting, metal

   detecting, my motorcycle, adjusting

floats, UFO's, tidal waves in the

Gulf of Mexico, and my BW and

snake shot!  ONLY stuff it is

   supposed to be about.

I'm not me...I don't know about out of state transfers as I have never done one here in Kali.  I do know that the new guns I have wanted I have just gone to the dealer and had them order them new and haven't had problems or exorbitant fees.  But how it works on an out of state firearm I don't know I guess it sounds to complicated and I probably just wouldn't do it..

zippovarga

2pm on Saturday....I walk into my local FFL, see a gun I want, pay for it, bring it home. Sunday.....say 1:59 just for arguments sake. I walk in, see a gun I want, pay for it, bring it home.

heyjoe

as it should be
It's too bad that our friends cant be here with us today

chopprs

lol...in idaho with CCW you walk in see a gun at 2pm saturday, pay your money and walk out with said gun at  2:10pm same saturday... in idaho with out CCW you walk into a gunstore see a gun you like 2pm saturday, show your DL and any form of proof that you have lived in idaho for 6 months (water bill, cable bill, phone bill, hunting lic... ect) pay for the gun and walk out at 2pm same saturday and walk out with said firearm... this hold true for rifle, shotgun, or handgun... either way you have to fill out a stupid 10 question paper for the atf to do a background check...(are you a citizen, are you a criminal, do you do drugs... ect)  to get a CCW in this county you pay $35 show you have taken hunters safety or some for of gun handling class, they take your pic and fingerprints, and call you in 2 weeks after they have done your background check so you can pick up your permit.... the permit is so you can carry, it makes it so your FFL does not need to call in your info for background check.. saves 5 min is all

mrmadhat

oops 2:15pm for the non CCW

zippovarga

Lifetime permit, $175 bucks in three money orders to please all the fingers involved, fill out the necessary forms for each stage of the process, wait 8-12 weeks, open your mail box, laminate your permit, enjoy life.

A 4 year is also available, but why spend $125 every 4 years when $175 gets you a lifetime? The only money that goes towards the actual license is $75.00.

My state is open carry, as I've mentioned before, but also as I've said, Most conceal. I see Attorneys openly carry, and that's probably a good thing for them...lol.

mrmadhat

wow thats a spendy permit.. I thought $35 was a bit much to excersize my rights

chopprs

Mine was $75 and I think I had to give them another check for processing, like $15. Then $3 for each gun added,

   Thank You Vampire State!

coopercdrkey

I remember it was $117. total in Florida, but part of that was for fingerprint processing.  I understand that it will not be quite as much when I renew in 7 years.

The total elapsed time, including mail in both directions, was two weeks to the day!  Not bad!

So where does Zippovarga live that he can get a lifetime permit for $175 ??

I heard that NY was one of the only places you can get a lifetime permit...

chopprs

I was just at a restaurant yesterday and bumped in to a bud that I had not seen in a while. He has had his permit since the 70's. We got talking and he showed me his permit, all tattered and in pieces. The old paper type, they last a lifetime here........

theysayimnotme

It's lifetime until they decide to change the rules. They change the rules here in Kalifornia all the time.

mayvik

I never understood the point of waiting periods for people that already own at least one handgun.  I mean, wtf?  "Hey, I really want to flip out and kill someone, but all I have is a .22 and on the internet I read that wasn't good enough, so I need a .45"  Inane laws written by ignorant people.

zippovarga

Indiana Stungun. Sorry, I was out of the loop for a few days.

lewiss

Mayvik, it's all about disarming American citizens. It has nothing to do with controlling crime.

jtartam

I got one...Sweet

westerly1965

The are really a go anywhere gun. I carried one in my back pocket in a folded over big red hanky for several years. Upgraded  to a LR but still have that short plus a couple more, of which one is engraved.

   They are keepers....

On the hanky thing-- I always figured if someone wanted to check to make sure I wasn't armed it would be a good time to blow my nose, sniff sniff.

Who would want to look at a used hanky?

bud

The hanky thing is snot funny

In MI you must apply for and receive (it takes like a few minutes) a pistol purchase permit from your county.  You can skip this step if you have a CCW.

You then take that to the seller.  Permits are not particular to any gun or seller, so it used to be you would just get a handful if you were shopping.  They were good for like 20 days or something (don't remember because I have a CCW).

The seller filled out the form and you mailed it back to the county to "register" your handgun.  Assuming you had the permit and passed the federal call in you were free to walk out with your gun the same day.

My CCW covers any handgun I own and is not specific to any particular one.  I can switch them out at will.

Dinadan

Coinchop,

Don't count on it. I and a friend entered Canada late in a long camping trip. I felt really bad when the border guard was going through my dirty underwear - I had truthfully answered that I did own guns and they searched stuff that I did not want to touch.

coinchop

Dinadan>

Thats not something I would try at a border

   crossing.

I have given some thought to riding a motorcycle

to Alaska but can't take a gun through Canada

and I wouldn't try, so probably won't go.

I see your new here, welcome to the forum...

beach_hunter

JT nice collection of guns there!! I need to get my self a 22 short mini one of these days!

Dinadan

Coinchop,

   Thanks for the welcome.

I do not own a NAA gun yet. I am trying to decide between the BW or Pug. I came across this message board while researching.

coinchop

DINADAN>

I like owning and carrying the Pug the most,

but I shoot the Black Widow the most. Have them

both, so no stress there. What ever you get

try and buy it with both cylinders. I shoot a

lot of 22LR through mine and rarely shoot the

mags. When NAA came out with the Earl I had

no intrest in it till I ran across a good deal

on one with both cylinders which I bought

and shoot it more than the rest of them by far.

The secret to happyiness with these guns is too

own them all. I don't own one of the new Break

Tops yet but I can feel the pull.....

   Their all neat to own.

guadman

I love the system here in Oregon. First gun I purchased here I walked in, looked around and found one I liked and paid for it. Clerk then had me fill out a form. Then he got on the phone did some talking and punching in keys. then comes back to me, put my little pistol in a bag with the receipt and off I went. It was amazing (I moved here from California).

coinchop

Guafman...

There are some other states that also do it

like that, All states could do it that way.

There is no reason not to. If you pass

the background ckeck you should be able to

grab your gun and head for the range...
