   ok Harkamsu,,,,,

here's the CCI .22LR 40gr. Quiet rounds out of the 2" barrel NAA BlackWidow ^

They shot fine. Distance from Chrony was about 6feet, laying prone with unsupported two handed hold.

The main thing I noted was velocity:

   1st round = 537 fps

   2nd round = 530 fps

   3rd round = 532 fps

   4th round = 529 fps

   5th round = 528 fps

   (average fps was 531)

Noise/Loudness is a very subjective topic.

I truthfully have not fired many 22 short or 22 LR subsonic rounds. I mostly shoot 22Magnum. So I don't feel comfortable giving an indepth opinion about the "quietness".

All I will say is that they were a little louder than out of a rifle (out of a rifle these sound like a bb gun imo), but still much quieter than high velocity rounds. I normally wear ear protection but did NOt for this test. No discomfort doing this out of the short revolver.

The bullet smacking the back of the metal trap was just as loud or slightly louder than the bullet actually firing imo. I took a picture of the recovered rounds in case any were curious. The lead went through the cardboard, the orange self-sealing round target, and impacted the thick metal bullet trap.

Personally, I don't feel comfortable with 22LR for self-defense especially out of a short revolver. I know 22Magnum has it's disadvantages too compared to calibers like 9mm, but I've just decided that 22M is better than 22LR for SD out of a handgun. To each his own.

I think CCI has a real winner with these Quiet rounds and have said so in the past. Close neighbors will still hear these bullets firing if they are outside; probably not if they are inside. How alarming the subdued sound would be to shooters or bystanders depends on the individual sensitivity of said persons.

They're reasonably priced at MIdwayUsa, and I even found some priced good at a GanderMountain store which is notorious ime for being way high on ammo. I think I paid around $2.99 for a box of 50.

   Side note:::::

   ......out of a rifle,,,,these go between 690 and 710 fps,,,,for comparison.

Thank you very much for the quick range report. For me, these would just be for plinking in the back yard. Definitely not for self defense. Even the .22 magnum is a back up to my main side arm, an HK45.

I'm definitely gonna get a bunch of these for the .22lr conversion cylinder when my EB SW gets delivered to me.

5 rds is not much testing

   I've put about 25 thru a rifle

   I like em

If anybody does any accuracy testing , I'd be interested.

I might get around to further testing later, busy with other projects now,,,,,this report took about 10 minutes,,,,glad I could do it

10 minutes nicely spent, and appreciated.

   Thank you!
Guns are a lot like parachutes:

I like using the .22 quite ammo [no powder] better than using my .177 or .22 cal. pellet rifles.

Both of my pellet guns are single shot, and using the .22 ammo I can put 15 in the tube! Plus the scope on the rifle is a plus.

Bud, the cci Quiet-22 ammo DOES have powder in the case,,,,I pulled a bullet. It is not a primer only round. The powder measured 0.6 grains in the one case I checked.

   Here's an NRA article.

I meant, Aguila Super Colibri is super quiet ammo that does not contain gun powder but fires from the force of the primer only. Powerful and silent, great for use in urban ...

This is what I use. Since it doesn't contain any powder, I figured the cci didn't either.

Thanks for the info on the cci, I'll be sure to use only aguila, it really is quiet!

I would like to see a comparison of this cci Quiet22 40grain ammo next to the remington CBEE22 LowNoise 33grain LongRifle ammo.
