From the soapbox: "The production-grade knurled cylinder release pins are expected early this week. Not having them is what's precluded us from presenting pictures of a completed piece. I will advise you later this week when/where to find these photos."

From that I gather that more pictures are to come before the week is over.

I would like to start the bidding at $500.00

So, how can we be truly sure that's a REAL sidewinder? Is it different from a standard mini from this angle?

admin

oh, it is.... it's the first early bird sidewinder!

As I type this, no one has mentioned the appearance of the serial number: From the photo, it appears to be raised instead of stamped into the frame like the rest of the minis. Look closely at the numbers themselves. They have the same texture as the bottom of the frame. Reach into you pocket and pull out your mini. The numbers on it are smooth. Am I the first one to notice a new manufacturing technique? Or am I more tired and sleepy than I think I am? Come on Mr./Mrs./Ms Admin, surely Sandy would not get tense with you for clarifying if the serial numbers are still stamped as in the past million or so minis, or if they are now cast with the frame.

And while you are at it, another picture or 2 would still be nice....

Either way, thanks for posting this one.

Good catch. Did not notice that earlier.

Raised serial numbers on a gun?

Kind of looks that way, but I don't think that's the case.

   Time will tell.

why wait for time... I can answer.  The serial number is engraved.  Same process as all the other models.  as for the pictures, my hands are tied, but I'm pretty sure it will be soon.

orlando1979

hmmm i think thay should all have the same serial number rhen everyone gets the first one

It's an optical illusion. If you stare at it just right, you cam make the numbers pop in and then pop out. Kind of cool. It just depends on how you interpret the shadows.

I've seen the serial number engraving machine at NAA in operation. Pretty cool. I'm sure it's the same as the other ones we've all seen.

grayelky

My brain was telling me it would be way too complicated and expensive to cast the numbers with the frame. My eyes kept telling me they were raised. I looked them over way too many times, but just could not see them engraved. Still can't, but I have no reason to think Mr./Mrs./Ms Admin would lie to us. Maybe it is time to go see the eyeball Doc.

Greyelky, try to imagine the light source in the lower right.

blitzkrieger

So, with this engraving machine.....would it be able to accurately re-engrave the SN on my mini?

cedarview kid

Re-engrave? Why would it need that?
