That is fitting the first pistol porn to be posted of the new sidewinder now you need to find somthing to but it in.  To bad that MADHAT is not around to make it

Now i want mine even more

i was just looking at minis and my bunt line is a 0029 so wouldent that be cool to get the 29 sidewinder

Toscn40 if I get #29 we can trade

Bubba

Same here, if I get a number I don't want, but someone does want I'm willing to trade too

Most of my low serials are under 20, so I guess maybe they are out, but I think my 4-inch Earl is 21, so that's a "maybe trade."

But that means the freakin' hassle of FFL transfers. Is that worth it?

scbuxton

My FFL transfers are $15 and in civilized SC we have no wait so not too bad on this end.

Never thought of it but I could still match my Ranger serial numbers? What are the odds?

tocsn40

yes if the option was that i get my 29 ti think i would pay shiping and transfers. but then again what are the odds. we will just have to wait and see

Congrats to Millsriver on getting the 'prize egg'.

Just wondering if anyone has actually fired one yet?

uncle_harley

As far as shipping, have your ffl ship it, they can Use USPS and it will cost maybe $6  and find you an FFL like mine who does $3 transfers  :0)

RogueTS1

Uncle Harley; I really like your FFL.

I have lucky number 13 which is a combo – no C (for combo) on the end of the serial number, by the way.   Only two things that may need to be addressed in the future: 1) (and the most important) there is not any delineation between the two cylinders so one will know which is magnum and which is long rifle without trying to insert a cartridge, and 2) a screw with a knurled "finger" knob on it enabling one to change the cylinders without using a tool (screwdriver) would be nice (this goes on the outside front of the frame so tolerances should not be a problem and only needed if there are two cylinders).   It looks as though most of my holsters that are for the standard 1 5/8" barreled pistols will work perfectly with the Sidewinder.

Randy

Mine finally arrived.  Let's just say there was only one name drawn after mine. Just got them home. Gtgoldsmith, recheck the muzzle end of your LR cylinder. At least on mine, the Mag is plain but the LR is marked with an L.

Mine didn't ship until Tuesday but is now here.

45flint

Cool to hear old holsters will work.

gtgoldsmith

Small little bugger but the L is there – may have to highlight it in red finger nail polish -a little dab will do ya....

Anybody try alternate magnum grips? Do they still fit? I assume magnum is magnum. Right or wrong?

Randy

The magnum boot grip fits nicely.

cedarview kid

Cool. I find it curious that the grip on the #1 above is slightly smaller than the grip frame. I thought the grip was finished ON the frame so they were flush...

   Did it move?

Randy

The frame dimensions may be a tiny bit different than the standard. Mine looks just like #1 above and the boot grip isn't quite flush as it is with, for instance, my PUG. The boot grip fit tightly and feels fine but again, the fit may vary slightly.

uncle_harley

Here is # 6 with som Chong grips had to slightly modify them of course took about 30 sec with a dremel with a sanding wheel.

Here are some comparison photos, courtesy of Gtgoldsmith (he provided the SW, the PUG was on the shelf in the shop, and the Wasp was in my pocket):

COOl! But too bad no Mad Hats will fit that.

gtgoldsmith

I now have boot grips on #13. Fit perfectly without any modifications, but may change to Chong grips once he responds to my e-mail ......

uncle_harley

The Chong Grips are very easy to modify to fit just have to shorten the recoil shield just a little and round out behind it to make room for the real recoil shield.  It literally took me 30 seconds per side with a dremel

45flint

Wow there is a lot of overhang on the grip fit?  Wonder if its the grip or the gun, that is different.  Sorry but I am not sure I find that acceptable?  These are not cheap guns.  Sorry but have to tell it like I see it.

Uncle_Lee

I have to agree.

For that much money, the grips should FIT the frame.

blazinwv

I am glad the Chong grips are easy to modify!

45flint

I guess if you had to modify the Chong grip then it is the gun that is oversized compared to other models? Chong I can make bigger all my other grips will have over hang?  If you modify the Chong it will not fit as snugly on the other models. I think I have become a trouble maker but as a grip maker this hits home.

uncle_harley

no the frame snaps in perfectly into the chong grips,  the chong grips have an intergrated recoil shield because previous guns did not have them.  You have to modify that part because the sidewinder already has a recoil shield   THe grip frame is the exact demensions as a regular mag. andy mag grip should fit perfectly.

45flint

Ok thanks if the Chong snaps in that is a very good sign, maybe it is just the grips that are a little small.  Less of an issue since I will probably replace stock grips.    Steve

uncle_harley

yes it's just a slightly different design in grips.  From what I've seen, they all appear to be that way so I'm assuming by design the originals are not uncomfortable by any means,  but I have bear paws for hands  I have a hard enough time holding chong grips.

badge54

You can mark number 20 claimed.  !!!

cedarview kid

#20 should be just as desirable as #1, right? Because it was the very last one made--of the first batch.

   GRATS!!!

uncle_harley

Update on the Chong grips.   I had to completly remove the recoil shield built into the grips, couldn't get shells out when ejecting.  Even with stock grips you have to remove 3 and rotate to get the last 2 out but it was much worse with the plactic recoil shield in place.
