NRA and 1911 pistol
« on: 10 »

For 2011, we are proud to team up the National Rifle Association® to mark the 100th anniversary of John Browning’s model 1911 pistol. Used in every American war and conflict since its invention, the 1911 is perhaps the most well-known gun in history. From World War I, up to the conflicts of today, the 1911 has been carried by millions of service men and women. This edition is your chance to own a beautiful, functional, and limited piece of history.

We are pleased to announce that we will be able to continue selling these pistols through 2012! Although the 1911 has passed its 100th anniversary, this pistol still serves as an excellent remembrance of the various wars and conflicts- as well as the brave troops who have served in them- the United States has been involved in over the last century. Our most popular project to date, some states still have numbers available.

Each step of this edition is manufactured and produced in the United States. Built on an Auto-Ordnance 1911A1 Mil. Spec., this edition is chambered in .45ACP. We strip the Parkerization off the original gun, engrave it, and blue over the engravings with jeweler’s grade nickel-plating on the slide and barrel. The buttons, pins, levers, and screws are all plated with 24k gold. This is a true gold-plating that will not flake or wipe off on your hands, and is as durable as good bluing.

The artwork on this weapon was designed in conjunction with the NRA®. Each side of the slide shows a visual history of every war America has fought, from 1911 to modern times. We have taken painstaking steps to guarantee the accuracy of each map, down to the 38th parallel in Korea. Each map is carefully labeled with important cities and battlefields named in banners. The top of the slide is engraved with a quote dedicating the edition to “the men and women who served our country for the last 100 years.” Also on top is the NRA® logo, displaying their ongoing fight to protect our right to bear arms. The bottom of the barrel is engraved with a portrait of John Browning, honoring both him and his important place in firearm history.

The grips are made out of maple, and are engraved at our Colorado location. Both grips feature beautiful scroll work. The right grip features the famous image of the flag-raising at Mt. Suribachi, Iwo Jima. The left grip is engraved with the state and number that you pick out, as well as the words “National Rifle Association®.”

Despite all of the engraving and embellishment, these guns are fully-functional and ready to shoot! You can shoot it with confidence, knowing that it won’t fall apart or be ruined. Should you want it restored to its pristine condition, we will re-plate and re-engrave it for a minimal charge.

Each pistol comes with an oak display case, engraved with the state and number of the pistol.

Sold out for the states of Wyoming and Texas. They had 15 left for the state of Indiana. I bought one, serial number 38. They sell for $2295.00, but NRA members get them for $1795.00. Actually, anybody can get one for $1795 because they sign you up for membership on the phone if your not a member, so you will get the discount. They take about 3-4 months for them to be shipped to your dealer.
