Part of it is upbringing. Plenty of dirt bags train them .I still feel there is a trait deep inside that can rear it's ugly head. A small dog around here was killed at a Pet Smart by a pit bull. Other horror stories of children and adults being mauled and/or killed . I'm sure there are sweet ones also. Like people I guess.

The terrier breeds are a little unpredictable. German Shepards are not in the same catagory, though they can be trained for anything and they are very intelligent.

I too made a rear sight for my mini. It was carved out of a old scope mount and glued on with Goop. Here is a poor picture

Unless it is a gun that I intend to put away for a long time, I don't worry about the cylinder stains on the face. If I want to get crazy, a green 3M sponge  (STAINLESS STEAL ONLY )will remove it but be careful not to rub the sides of the cylinder as it will scratch it.

Doesn't work with mine without forcing it. I'll stick with the old way.

Thank you for your service.

So you were in the military at the time?

That's good to hear Bernie.  That was the only model mini I had for 30 years.  It went everywhere.  I even took it in the Great Pyramids in Egypt, and some hot spots in Central America.  I forgot I had it in my pocket most of the time.  It always provided me an extra sense of security when I was in some not so nice areas and countries.

Warning:  I started reading this forum a few years ago, and now I have 4 minis.  Love 'em all, but the 22LR, 1 1/8"  will always be the one with the most memories.
Just wondering how you take a pistol out of the country?

My opinion only but LGS and internet seller are two different animals. I'm pretty sure the internet sellers work on a lesser margin but rely on volume . So while a LGS may match a price, I wonder if that is sustainable in the long run.

Beautiful work . Must take patience.

Well, thank you for all the useful info . Also for giving me the itch $$$$! At this stage I think I am going to buy one-sell one and keep the wife happy.

Might as well buy new then . I heard of early frame cracks. Maybe if I stumble upon one locally , I can make a deal with my Smith. It's a beauty but the butt makes it too hard to conceal .

What kind of pricing are you seeing?  $448 shipped:

Yeah , that's what I'm seeing. I haven't checked the used prices. I'm used to $200 plastic guns ::)I've got a nice J frame that sits in the closet. I should sell it and get something I will shoot more often.

And it looks good doing it . I will have to keep my eye out for one. Pretty pricey from what I'm seeing.

Bill,

I did a little trigger work on mine.  It is a bit of a strenuous pull from the factory but then if you are being attacked and the adrenaline is pumping, I don't think it will make it too hard for you or anyone to shoot.  Did the trigger work for range time mostly...don't have a trigger pull gauge either, sorry.
What about the single action pull?

I don't know about one handgun only..I've got in the vicinity of 30+ handguns, so I've got choices. But one of my favorites for ease of carry, is my Beretta Tomcat 3032. Easy to carry, minimum recoil, and with the Tip Up barrel..easy on my arthritic hands!

That is the cat's meow. Is it reliable?

Even though I carry my Pug and BW far more, if I had to keep only one, I guess it would have to be this one.  S&W Model 340PD J-Frame .357 Mag.  It's a featherweight (11 oz), reliable, and easy to conceal.

Holy S@#$,a 11oz .357 mag. Must be fun to hold on to. :'(

Not the same question but if I could only have one gun overall it would be my Mossberg 500.

The LCP is the one I carry most. It is about the best in terms of size vs fire power for me.

I agree . That shape works for me better.

I'm guessing they around 8-10 lbs maybe? I was shooting mine yesterday and I noticed a tendency to shoot left of target at 10  paces. Moving my trigger finger to the first joint seemed to help . This is with boot grips, 1 1/8 barrel 22lr. Anyone else pulling left?

What is the typical trigger pull weight of the minis? Is there a search function on the forum? I don't see one.
#24
Check out the Gold Dot Short Barrel 22 mag. Expansion and penetration. The 22  lr suffer from under penetration if they expand.Same problem with .380 in short barrels but marginally better.
#25
And boot grips look so nice without much size increase.

Saw a video from Hickock45 that says his mini wasn't shootable for him until he got the folding grip.

I don't believe that Greg (aka Hickok45) ever tried any of the bigger grips such as the Black Widow/Mini-Master, NAA Boot, Revision CV, or ThingMeister on his NAA pistol.  Even the Houge slip-on grips would make a huge difference in the ergonomics of the the NAA pistols.

I believe you are right about Hickok. My personal experience with the folding grip when they were first introduced was not to my liking.. To me, they changed the whole look and feel of the gun and made it much larger. Today, I could carry a LCP if I wanted something in that size .YMMV
#27
I consider mine to be a "get off me gun" but Hickok can hit the 80 yard gong.

Just a quick update on the boot grips. The pointy rear corners were bugging me but I did not want to sand them round and ruin the finish. Finally I decided to take a few swipes with an emery board . That did the trick and it is hardly noticeable. Now I will shoot it again and see if it still bites my finger.

What was the common issue? Latch?

That sounds terrible. I was wondering if there were issues in general when first released? I see references to that from time to time. Thanks.

If you are certain there is no rifling , it needs to go back for sure.

I may be wrong, but I think I saw a review of this ammo where it did poorly . Terrible accuracy if I remember correctly.

Edit : checked 22 plinkster's review and it did ok up to 50 yds.

OK, now I get it.
