Wife had her 2 week follow up today for her knee replacement surgery. I had my 2nd dental surgery 3 weeks ago. I'm hungry and haven't been getting to much sleep last couple weeks. But we both doing better each day now. May even shoot a few rounds tomorrow.

Anvil,
I know where you coming from with the wrapping paper. Mine has even changed the paper because it wasn't the pattern she liked for that person.

Top dog,
I'm kinda leaning towards the Ruger. But I keep asking myself why, when I like my Sheriff and B/W so well. I still think about the Ranger ll, but just don't like that price. Can almost buy 2 other NAA for that money. I ain't giving up on the LCP .22 yet. For some reason, it's liking SV rounds.

Shot some more SV rounds thru the LCP .22 and still no malfunctions. But still haven't regained full confidence in it. Been thinking about another .22 revolver. Want fairly small and light so I can carry it. Been researching the Ruger LCRx .22 and S&W Model 317. Any inputs on them, or any other recommendations?

OV, guy told me to come get the 410, keep it, and shoot it enough to make up my mind if I wanted a 410 or not. Depending how my mouth feels after tomorrow, might get it this weekend. Until then, y'all hold the fort down, I may be laying low next couple days or so.

OV, that looks like the one I borrowed last year and shot a few rounds. Except it was a single shot. I bet he hasn't even seen it since I took it back to him. Probably still in tool box. I may have to get it back from him and shoot it some again. He had told me to keep and shoot it. I want to be able to carry it, but I know any of the 410 handguns are gonna have some weight. I got the 2nd half of my dental surgery Thursday, so I got a few days to think on it.

I shot them couple rounds of shot shells thru the LCP.22, but I shot several rounds of cci sv thru it. So far, (knock on wood), no malfunctions with the sv rounds, and I wasn't expecting them to cycle. Think Ive shot little over two boxes thru it. Ever since a good while back I had that weekend that it was jamming on me, I had lost some confidence in it. Had always shot the Fed auto match thru it until that weekend.  Top Dog, I been thinking about the Bond 410 again lately to go with my shotguns, But gosh, I just don't know if my old hands can take it.

Top dog,
I decided to see for myself. Plus it was a shirt my wife has been threatening to throw away for a long time. What's really gonna make her day is the shirt is still wearable. What got me though is the shot went thru both sides of shirt, plus thru the cardboard. I think I'm finally realizing, least for me, these shotshells are not very consistent.

Decided to shoot some with the LCPll.22 today. I wanted to see if a shot shell would penetrate thru a flannel shirt. Surprisingly, it went thru front and back at 6'  Then I shot several regular rounds.

Thing is, I got 2-1/2 boxes of the cci shotshells and half a box of the federal left. I'll probably shoot a few rounds all along. One thing I will add before I stop talking about them is if anyone shoots them, be careful of your target or backstop, they will ricochet.

Top dog,
I don't know what to think. After shooting a bunch of shot shells these last couple months, I'm kinda inclined to agree with you. I've very seldom had to shoot a rattlesnake more than once with them, but that's all I've shot with them. Plus now I think instead of 6-8'  might recommend max of 5'. Also from now on, instead of loading 2 rounds of snake shot, I'm going with all 5 regular rounds.

Been carrying the B/W lately. Shot several rounds of shot shells thru it yesterday. Nothing special to show or tell. But today I broke out the sheriff, and shot several rounds of shot shells. Both cci and federal. The cci were #12 pellets, and I thought that's what the federal are. But check out this picture. The federal are not pellets, they little spike shaped shot. Something don't seem right about that.   At 6'  some didn't go thru the cardboard.

Good morning everyone,
Except for firing one shot with B/W in the general direction of a roaming dog,( just to get him heading home a little faster), I haven't had time to do any shooting this past week. Anyone able to shoot any?

Top Dog,
Squirrel hunting at one time was probably the most poplar kind of hunting around here. But now, I don't even know anyone that squirrel hunts. And to top it off, I don't know anyone that eats them either. How things change. With all the clear cutting going on nowadays, all the wildlife are having to change their habits.

Top dog,
Ours came in on Sept 14th and goes thru Mar 2. Very seldom see fox squirrels anymore. Every now and then will. Our limit is also 8 a day. Used to like my squirrel and dumplings but my wife has never liked them. She don't want me to bring them in the house anymore.

Squirrel season is in now, so I have my 410 with me more. Still have the B/W or sheriff on me with 2 shot shells for anything dangerous I might get to close to by accident.

I agree with what each of you have said. If I was like my Dad when it come to snakes, I wouldn't have to worry about hit and miss with shot shells or a bullet. It didn't bother him a bit to take care of any snake with his plain ol wood walking cane. He always said wasn't no need to waste a bullet on a snake, when a stick would do. I've took care of several thru the years with a hoe, and a stick. But the stick was longer than his walking cane.

Top dog,
I can understand now why you might think twice about using snake shot on snakes. I've always shot the LR snake shot and very seldom have to shoot more than once. Always no more than 6-8'  But after shooting a bunch of rounds of snake shot the other day, and the spread wasn't always consistent, I can see where it could take more than one shot sometimes.

My son got a pair of snake gaiters way back bunch of years ago when working for a tree trimming company. But after he got bit, and spent almost week in hospital. That was a close call.

Shot 20 rounds with the sheriff this afternoon. 10 sv and 10 hv. I've always read that standard velocity is more accurate, but I seem to shoot better with the high velocity.

OV, top dog,
My problem when checking fence, wasn't getting closer, but easing back a step or two. Most times I wouldn't see it til I was fixing to step on it. I'd have to give myself enough room to shoot, but still be out of striking range. Because sometimes, if you don't make the first shot count, he starts striking and coming towards you. And believe me....he knows where you at.

I know sometimes it's easier said than done, but hang in there uncle Lee, try to think positive. Hope you continue to feel better.

Top dog,
We still getting rain off and on from the outer bands of hurricane Francine. Be at least tomorrow before I can shoot.

Top dog,
Good to see you had a stress free day. Shooting a BB gun can bring back some old memories. I bought a new pellet rifle two years ago. Now you got me wanting to shoot it.

I tried to bring myself to pay the price for a 2.5" Ranger, but just couldn't quite bring myself to do it. Why I went with the Sheriff. What's the best price anyone seen for the 2.5" Ranger with extra cylinder? Kinda late now, but just curious. I think I'm gonna pass on the Sentinel.

Top dog,
The .22lr shot shells do pretty good on the bigger rattlesnakes at 6-8'. Shot several 4 footers thru the years. Don't remember if I posted picture of the 5 footer from a couple years ago. Thing is, at that close, I can usually hit them with a regular round. But the bad part is if you shoot him and don't hit the head, he starts jumping and striking and then you start jumping around, you may step on another one. Now the good thing, I don't have cows behind my house now and don't have to walk thru them cane patches going around the fence.
