for me, the 22lr cylinder is the only/best way to roll.  i find the extra flashbang of 22wmr to be really offputting, and not worth whatever extra oomph it may offer.

a cousin had multiple ftf with steel cased ammo.  i have no idea why he bought it, he is well sorted financially.  i had warned him...

i have absolutely zero use for ?ribbing? and ?caliber wars? and less so as i age.

no true friend or true brother ribs someone ritually at every meeting.  ymmv but i find it insecure, immature, unfunny and unhelpful.  ?if you cannot say something nice say nothing at all.?

a 850 fps 22lr round shot out of a handgun is a 545mph icepick to the body.  who wants multiples of that?  like most ccw persons i am a normal surburbanite, in my case retired.  my situational awareness and where/who i avoid means that five shots of 22lr and sometimes 38sp, practiced and always with me is a sufficient calculus.  if insufficient then i should reevalute my habits.

i am a revolver guy but i enjoy the s&w shield ez 380acp.  it is the one semiauto pistol that is truly easy.  i always clean my new to me firearms before their first outing.  due to my failure to lay in a stash of 380acp ammo i haven?t shot my ez in over a year, but it ran perfectly fine.

I was quite unhappy with the loading gate. Very stiff & sharp. Hurts to open the loading gate. I have since sold it. I wrote an Email to Ruger about the "problem" & they replied they designed it that way on purpose but gave no reason why.

the stiff loading is designed that way to allow a free spinning back and forth cylinder, which is a great attribute.  mine loosened up a tad over time to be acceptable.

the ruger wrangler is a nice platform, inexpensive but not cheapened.  there is alot of extra room in the six shot 22lr cylinder; eight 22lr would be great, or six 32 long...

i have several bond arms derringers and multiple barrels, some in duplicate calibers, so i highly appreciate b.a.?s work.  that said, i wish i could have warned postalman away from the ill (not just less) finished, cheaper rowdy/roughneck/grizzly models.  guess what, ill finished means just that, they dont fit well to a uniform standard, which is crucial when barrels are supposed to completely swappable.  i had one, had to return it at my expense to fix it, and i sold it away with full disclosure.

b.a. decided to chase a broader market with a cheaper product and guess what happened, imho.  thankfully naa has never done this.

that said i remain a fan of the original, well finished, gen2 b.a. derringers.  gen2 have a much smoother action and are denoted by indented triggers and a wide trigger spur.

my advice on b.a. derringers:  buy used original gen2, built stout, carried more than shot.  look on gunbroker.  first and second barrels should be 45lc/410 and your favorite centerfire carry pistol caliber.  use 410 handgun specific ammo, your wrist will thank you.  357mag and 45acp are no fun, ymmv.  all other calibers range from surprisingly okay to pleasant enough to gobs of fun.  if you are a shooter, not collector, replace the pretty wooden grips with rubber or other fuller aftermarket grips, large for ?4? calibers, small ok for others.  cheers.

i have other trail pieces, mostly 22lr as well, but this one near always, now with cv revision grips.

florida has no firearms registration requirements.  if you acquire in, or bring to, florida a lawful firearm why not leave it in florida secured, in a climate controlled storage unit with other valuables if you have no second home in florida?  why does ny need to know about any item of yours that wasn?t or isn?t in ny?  as for your ny-permitted firearms, there isn?t any ny law against lawfully transporting them out of and back into ny, right?

Terry,
I know that Bond does offer barrels for the H&R 32 Mag and maybe the 327 Mag but I do not know if they offer bbls for the 32 acp if that is what you are looking for.

                                                                      Top Dog

hi i was specifically informed by b.a. not to shoot 32acp out of its 327mag barrel, 32h&r, 32s&w long and 32s&w short are ok.  now if i could just find a 327mag barrel, b.a. seems to no longer sell direct to consumers.

hello rick, your driving holster looks great! my bond arms derringer is too heavy for its "bad" cross draw driving holster.  sags terribly and is unwearable when not seated.  does your driving holster ride tight enough to be comfortable when walking?  how is it sized:  by individual naa typeor by barrel length, frame size?  i've gotva bugout1 22lr cylinder on a magnum frame eith revision grips now and im looking at a black widow 22lr cylinder.  thanks!

hello all, this looks like the bond arms derringer cross draw "bad" driving holster.  does it attach the same way with velcro over the belt?  does it ride high and tight?  my bond arms bad holster sags so much to make it unwearable when i am walking.  too bad as i love the design.  please let me know, thanks.

i too have my naa bugout1 22lr with revision grips with me every time i step out my door.  i have other ccw choices, including a naa guardian 32acp, but the bugout is simply handy and small enough to always come along, even for my 5mi light jog.  i have shot about 500 practice rounds so its capabilities are well known.  i am also at that age where i feel uncomfortable lugging around heavy artillery and i am the sole master of my travels, i.e. i can easily avoid trouble spots and times.  it is my karl malden amex card:  "don't leave home without it."

enablers all here...  😎 but honestly, what did i expect?

thanks for photos rick, the sheriff looks pocketable after all.

as for price, how is a new sheriff 22lr/wmr for $300?  i was kinda hoping for $250ish, used is ok.

how is the sheriff as a shooter, has anyone tried one with cv revision grips?  i've put 500+ rounds through my bugout1, happy camper.

thanks!

two replies, "get both."  😆 😉

rick, do you have photos of your pocket sheriff holsters?

thanks!

NAA Products / widow or sheriff?

i like shooting 22lr and the larger 22magnum sized frame.  my 22lr bugout1 with cv revision grips is always on me or next to me.  i also prefer the bugout cylinder release over the regular mini (also have one with holster folding grip but is far distant second to my bugout1).

i've now got an itch, but the only vaccine is made by naa:  widow or sheriff?  im leaning to latter, just because it looks cool.  in either case i would replace stock grips with cv revision.  i realize that the sheriff is too long to be a pocket ccw but that is ok.

please school me kind folks.

is it truly too big for a guardian 32acp?  asking for a cousin...

center mass (9" paper plate), point and shoot, 2-2-1 rapid fire (such as it is with a naa), at 12' using a naa bugout1 22lr fitted with cv revision grips, which make a world of difference.  if i'm doing any shooting at a target over 12' with a naa i'm just horsing around.

i got a naa guardian 32acp several years ago used.  it turned out to have issues but naa essentially rebuilt it gratis.  i recently found a new keltec p32 at a "steal me" price.  i've shot, ccw'd and like both, the p32 more than i expected.  i added hogue grip sleeves to both, which greatly improves their feel in my hand.  which one 32acp pocket ccw to get?  don't, get both.

i got a taurus spectrum for $125 last autumn from kygunco.  added a hogue grip sleeve.  as a revolver guy i like its long double action trigger pull.  ive put maybe 400 rounds of various fmj ball ammo through it (all i shoot anyway) without problems.  my only complaint is the royal pain in the dupa reinserting the guide rod spring after cleaning, i discovered using gloved hands to make it work.  best $125 that i've ever spent...  oh in addition to the h&r 20ga, 20" single shotgun under my bed and a heritage roughrider 22lr single action revolver.

thanks guys!

i have too much coin tied up in bond arms derringers.  my random thoughts.  a niche, fourth, not first, gun for that crazy money, plus some, that you were saving to blow on a casino slot machine, maybe.  used models on gb.com are likely good values as they are built like a brick outhouse but shot little.  only get gen2 models, i.e. indented trigger and wider hammer spur.  ditch the pretty wood grips, "4" calibers need large rubber grip, others can work with small rubber grip.  if you start with the 410/45lc model stick to handgun specific shotgun or cowboy loads, then add another barrel in your favorite centerfire handgun caliber.  forget the cheaper, lesser finished rowdy/roughneck models, they are a disaster, and burn b.a.'s carefully groomed reputation, don't ask me how i know.  remove the trigger guard to ccw when wearing gloves.  b.a. derringers can be more accurate and less punishing than you guess.  your unborn grandchildren can pass them on to their children fully functional.

i find that 22wmr (even short barrel specific ammo) out of a snubby is too much flashbang for me to enjoy practice, and i only carry what i practice with alot.  i got rid of a ruger lcr 22wmr but carry a ruger lcr 22lr.  i jumped on the bugout1 22lr when it came out.  22wmr out of a 5.5" ruger single six is another story...

excellent suggestion twainman, you should get bonus points to get off probation early.  i love dollar tree.  i travel to asia alot and always stop by the japanese 100 yen chain store, daiso, which is even more awesome.

here is my ccw bugout1 22lr with cv revision grips and a speedstrip (i have a thing for extra ammo, as untactical as it all may be here).  it all fits in a daiso 100 yen soft sided smart phone case.  ive put it on a counter while pocket fishing and nobody is wiser.  if i need my bugout to be more accessible i unzip the case and tilt up the piece handle on top.  p.s. i have no idea how to turn my photo correct side up, it was correct in my photo library...

ive put 400 rounds through my ruger lcp 22lr.  federal lrn bulk had a few hiccups.  cci sv, cci minimag, cci stingers, american eagle all digested easily.  i added hogue beavertail grips, obviously not for recoil control but to give it a fuller grip.  i expect it to be a ccw after another 500+ rounds of practice.  10 deep, well placed, reliable, icepick jabs at 485+ mph works as protection for my suburban daytime jaunts.

has anyone tried a bond arms derringer using 327/32 or 22wmr barrels?

my first privately owned handgun is a humble, a 1983-purchased, gently used, steel, 2", 38sp taurus 85 revolver that literally went around the world unobtrusively secured in my household effects.  i still have, and treasure, it.

i am a revolver guy but if i were starting over now, and wanted a semiauto pistol to follow the modern trend, the answer would be a s&w shield ez 380acp:  an absolute dream to hold, load, make ready, fieldstrip and shoot, especially in mid 60ish hands.  of course my go anywhere pocket ccw would be a naa bugout1 22lr with cv grips.
#27
thanks roguets1, i wish that i could have made the beretta 21 work, it was a nice looking piece that i got new in 1985.  with more ccw permit holders out there we need more decent mouse guns.

question for those of you who use bicycle inner tubes as grip sleeves:  what size, store and price is best overall?  thanks.
#29
regular setting but my microwave is a 20 year old, 700 watt, cheap wm countertop model.  perhaps 10 sec is better to start.  nuking also to gently, first time use, soften speedstrips for my revolver reloads, without ammo inserted of course.

very nice, though my guardian 32acp mags are easy to load as long as my fingers don't age.  is one model capable of loading both 32acp and 380acp mags?

thanks canoeal, i wasn't thinking of a sheriff for pocket carry and i like my bugout mechanics.  i'm thinking that the sheriff is best suited for an owb ccw:  short enough to conceal, longer for more accurate oomph.

humble advice from another newbie is to simply buy the cv grips.  they are exceedingly well done and nice looking, plus feel great in the hand.

i just yesterday comparison-shot a new keltec p32 with my naa guardian 32.  when i get off probation here i will post photos and a review.  in short i was pleasantly surprised by the keltec, it felt better in hand when shooting over 100 rounds than did the naa at just 50 rounds.

my first naa was a new bugout1 22lr.  next came cv grips.  then came a great deal on a used 1 5/8" mini 22lr, and the bugout1 orange grips got a new home.  another bugout followed and another mini 22lr with boot grips is late for christmas.   one naa is like getting just one scoop of ice cream when gramma was dishing it out, not happening.  a naa is now always with me wherever the law doesn't say verboten.
