Thanks for the replies, everyone!  Great info.  I admit to really liking the boot grip on that LR, Dinadan - I think that might be a must for me :)

You know it's funny - I wouldn't think that the 1/2" would be such a difference but I guess when the pistol is so small already that 1/2" looks more like a foot, lol.

I have decided to add a .22lr mini to my small NAA collection of my 1 5/8" mag combo and 1860 4" Earl.  Now, I can't decide if I want to go with the 1 1/8" barrel or 1 5/8" barrel.  I would like to hear opinions on your preferences of the two for the smaller lr frame.  Thanks!

I picked up for the Earl 4" yesterday - what a beautiful piece.  I'm looking forward to the next range visit.  I will post pics of it once I take some.  The 6" might be on the back burner as my LGS just got it a standard .22lr short barrel.  It might be next in the collection.

Thanks, TGJ!  I'm looking forward to getting it (and already searching for the 6" Hogleg :))

Some great looking pistols in this thread!!

... and it finally happened.  After spending too long deciding over this (and a couple of firearms in between), I now have a 4" Earl combo on order and on its way to my LGS.  We originally ordered the 6" Hogleg but he called me later and said that his order fell through as someone else ordered it (last one in stock) the same time he did and theirs went through first.  So, we opted for the 4" Earl (there was a few of those in stock).  I will surely post pics when I get it.

grayelky - if I had seen your post about the Hogleg earlier I would have grabbed it from you!

Great replies - thanks everyone!!  I suspect that the 6" barrel would carry fine IWB until I wanted to sit down I suppose.  I might have "something" sticking out that may raise questions from the members of the opposite sex  ???  I like the idea of buying the 6" Hogleg and finding myself having to buy another 4" for carry and then have two fine pieces of work :)

Thanks for the replies everyone!  So, I'm guessing that the 6" Hogleg with its longer barrel would increase the FPE all the better.  I admit to really liking the looks of the Hogleg (I'm a Buntline fan) - too bad it would be more difficult to conceal.  Maybe an IWB holster?  I was originally thinking the 4" might be about the max size for pocket carry (which is the method of carry I was looking for) but if the 6" would carry nicely IWB I may have to reconsider my options :)

Thanks for the info and comparisons, TGJ!

Hello everyone - sorry, been a while since my last postings.  I am looking at getting my next NAA and am considering three - a Mini Master 4" or an 1860 3" or 4".  I'm assuming that the Mini Master 4" and Earl 4" balance about the same in the hand?  To those that have fired all of the above, do you feel the 3" 1860 balances better over the 4" models?  Do the rubber grips of the Mini Master feel better to you over the boot grips of the 1860's?  I'm looking for a bit larger carry option over the 1 5/8" mini mag that I currently have.  Thanks.

Looking forward to this as my next Mini just might be a standard .22lr.  I contacted him about this and didn't receive a reply, though my mail has been acting goofy lately and he might not have gotten it.  Thanks for the heads up - and welcome to the forums!!

Thanks for all the info and details, everyone!  Soaking it all in (pun intended).

Of course you will end up with both :)  However, my personal opinion I would opt for the BW first.  It is a little more to hold onto and slightly bigger to get used to the small nature of the NAA Minis.  In the end you will own the Pug for carry and the BW for range fun - not to say that both can't be used for both.  They are all really great little firearms.

NAA Products / Leather holster care

Sorry for the naive question, but I really never owned a leather holster before - they have always been either kydex or nylon.  I would assume that the leather would need to be treated from time to time and would like to know what/how you all do yours.  I recently obtained my Absaroka Kid pocket holster for my mini mag and would like to retain it's beautiful condition as much as possible.  Do you use actual leather treatment/protectant?  Light oiling?  Just the outside or inside as well?  Thanks.

Thanks, guys.  Looking forward to the new pics as there may be another new mini in the near future.... :)

Took my new Mini out to shoot today.  Its a 1 1/8" convertible with the pocket holster grip.  Couple things of note from the range session:

--Firing at 10 feet, the group size was pretty good.  However, it was shooting quite low (about 8 - 10 inches) and left (about 3 inches).  This was with a traditional sight picture with the tip of the front sight blade even in the tiny rear notch.  To get impacts at the point of aim, I had to hold with the sight blade fully visible above the notch.  Normal or common?

Though I am still new to these Minis (mine is a convertible 1 5/8"), I found the same to be true.  I too was getting low groups until I aimed with the front blade fully visible on the frame's top.  I would say this to be the norm with these.

Mine just came in.  Great work!

1 5/8" is working for me right now.  Haven't fired a 1 1/8" yet so that could change when I do.

What about a .25 mini? It seems like it wouldn't have to be much bigger.

+1.

Very nice!!  Any idea who the engraver might be?

I just ordered one of his pocket holsters for my 1 5/8" mag over the weekend.  Looking forward to getting it.

Spent some more time and more rounds down the mini yesterday and I must say that my accuracy is getting better.  For me, I found that I need to keep the front sight on the top of the gun's frame instead of more aligned with it.  I was originally shooting way low but this brought everything back where it needs to be.  I am getting used to the one finger hold and may opt to just get one of the rubber grip options from the Pug or Wasp - dunno yet.  I think a couple more range visits are in order to be sure I know what I am after...  This is quickly becoming one of my favorite firearms and see another NAA in the very near future!! (now to convince the Mrs.)  :)

And it goes into the hand the same way every time. When you draw, you don't have to arrange the mini in your hand so that it points where you want it to point. With a little practice, every draw, the mini comes out with the barrel straight with the forearm.

Repeatability is surely a good thing!

I don't own (yet) any of the Cvang grips. I had the opportunity to hold a mini with them on it a little while back, and was very impressed. I have large hands, yet I found the grips to give much better purchase than the standard grip, but did not add any noticeable amount in the pocket. To me, the BW grip adds bulk. I suspect the Cvang will make shooting easier and more enjoyable.

Thanks for sharing your experience, grayelky!

Great collection of carry pieces there, MR_22!!  I almost picked up the .380 version of your DB9 (the DB380) when shopping for my pocket .380 but ended up going with the LCP.  It was a close decision and I remember the DB380 actually feeling better in my hand.
