Speer Gold Dots
#2
If I am at Walmart or a restaurant, I usually have my S&W 9 mm M&P Shield in a Kydex holster or belly band 887itch shirt tail out. But in each vehicle I have a NAA mini mag within easy reach. In many situations, I just stick one these in my pocket. I am 71.

A chart I find on you tube showed out of a one inch barrel Speer Gold Dots penatrated the most and even had some expansion.  It was followed closely by Hornady 45g Critical Defense and then Winchester 30g. I carry Speer Gold Dots in my NAA guns.

At a young 71, I carry a Wasp 22wmr in my truck and a NAA 22wmr with pocket holsters in my car. To get gas or run in a convenience store, I slip one in my pocket. If I go to Walmart, Academy, or a restaurant, I usually have my S&W 9mm Shield with me. By my bed is my Ruger (also the name of my Doberman) Security 9. I have a couple of 22lr handguns and a 22rifle in the house and my trusty NAA 32 Guardian in the bathroom. My wife has her NAA Black Widow with 22 wmr by her bed. We feel comfortable with this arrangement.

In 2013, I bought a NAA 1 1/8" Mini Mag with the conversion cylinder. I liked it so much, my collection just grew from there.

I have both the G32 and the Kel Tec p32. While the NAA G 32 is well made, the Kel Tec has many advantages over the over the G32!
The Kel Tec holds more rounds, is much lighter, costs much less, more fun to shoot, and I shoot it better. I have put more rounds through the P 32 without any failures.
I saw a penetration test with 32s from a short barrel and the clear winner was Aguila 73g round nose. Hollow points did not penetrate enough and there was no expansion. That's what I carry in my 32s.

On You Tube this guy who tests different ammunition did a test of 22lr from short barrel pistols using a NAA MINI. I don't remember the barrel length or the name of the website. Sorry. Anyway, he tested about 20 different brands of ammunition, and found the two best to be Aguila Interceptors and CCI Mini-Mag Troy Landry 36 grain copper plated hollow points.
He found the Speer Gold Dots to penetrate the best of 22WHR rounds.
I am sorry I couldn't find the website, but you might have better luck.

I mainly practice with 22lr because it is cheap but occasionally shoot 22 wmr because that is what I carry. By the way, I love the original black rubber grips, because they feel perfect in my hand.

Well, it started when I wanted a small gun to have easy access to and hide in my vehicles. So, I bought a Cobra 22 mag derringer then a Cobra 32 derringer and had one in each vehicle. They weren't terribly expensive so if something happened to them I wouldn't be out a lot of money.
Then, it happened. One day I saw the NAA mini mag. I will have to admit it was love at first sight!
I did some research, then purchased a mini with the conversion cylinder. It became a constant companion in my pocket loaded with 22 mag (practiced with 22lr). Then, I decided I needed one in each vehicle. So, I got a Wasp for one and a 22 mag with black pearl grips for the other. At a gun show I found a 22 short. It was so cute, it just had to come home with me. Then, when I held a Black Widow for the first time I knew this would be my EDC. Later, I just had to have a Pug for no apparent reason, other than I had the illness.
My wife had been carrying a 38 sp snubbie, but was a terrible shot with it. Once she shot my BW she wanted one, so she got one. Then, when my daughter decided to carry, she also wanted a Black Widow, so marry Christmas to her.
A couple of more found their way home with me since then. By the way I noticed a started a lot of sentences with "then". I'm sorry, I was not an English major.

I found some 22s we had when I was a kid. I shot a box of them without a single failure. As a reference point, I am 70 years old.

Dang, I didn't want to think about, but since I have 8 minis and a Guardian, I would say probably in excess of 2K. Please don't tell my wife. Lol

I have never had to use mine for self defense, but I have had my hand on mine in my pocket twice in somewhat scary situations. In was comforting to know it was there just in case.

My mini came with the rosewood grips. After a couple of years I replaced them with the slip on rubber grips which I like much better.

I did not misunderstand. I almost always agree with your post. I probably should not have said almost 100%. I think any of these guns are a good first purchase, but if money is tight I thought the combo would be a better choice. As, always, I look forward to reading your posts and hearing your opinions.

Welcome to the forum.

I think you will find that the most common suggestion for a first NAA will be the Black Widow followed by the Pug for it's compactness.  In either case, getting the combo with both the 22LR and 22 Mag cylinders is highly recommended.  Most carry the 22 Mag and use the 22 LR for inexpensive practice.
Agree almost 100%, except I got the combo first and am glad I did. If, like you say, money is tight, the combo is less expensive. I did later purchase the Pug and Black Widow. All are excellent guns. Good luck and enjoy.

Thanks, Bill. That is very interesting and useful. I,too, will stick to Speer a Gold Dots in my Pug, but may be replacing Velocitors in my 22LR.

There is one aspect of NAA being ignored by the gun magazines that has not been mentioned. They are hard enough to get now. If the rest of the country knew what we all know, how in the heck could Sandy's folks ever get caught up?
I live in South Texas where NAAs are easy to buy. They have them at every gun show, and even the local Academy now sells them. That must be why I have so many of them.😀

Ok, I think the pictures will show this time. One case has the Mini Max and the other case my Pug.

Talldog, mine is a similar story. Now, I have bought 3 Black Widows. My wife and my daughter each have their own now. By the way, they do have their carry license.

Riadat, I have posted 4 pictures of 2 different cases, but it says attachments pending approval. They show up on this site on my IPad but not on the site itself. I posted these yesterday, so I really don't know why they are not showing up. I am sorry, but if you are patient I am sure they will be posted soon.

I don't remember the brand, but here is what it looks like.

I understand that the Colibri won't cycle in a magazine. They only work in a revolver or single action rifle. I have shot them out of my Mimi's. They are nice for beginners due to low noise and no recoil. Enjoy!

Thanks, Billmeek. I had not seen this before. I bought a box of interceptors at a gun show, Saturday and had heard they were faster than the Velocitors and the Stingers. I knew I could count on someone on this forum to provide the information I was looking for.

This flip phone carry case is what I use to carry my Mini in when I don't want to pocket carry. It is very easy to access and slips right on my belt.

Has anyone tested Aguila Interceptors out of a NAA 22?

Thanks RogueTS1. I was finally able to post pictures here. As you can see I have purchased my share of NAA  products. I also have a Guardian 32 and bought a Black Widow 22 mag for my daughter.
I have enjoyed reading everyone's comments through the years and everyone 's pictures. I don't know if I will add anymore minis to my collection, but I will never say never.

I have been a member for years and read this forum almost daily, but I don't think I have ever posted. I would like to post pictures of my minis, but don't know how. I use my phone or iPad. Can someone help me out?
#29
I guess that sounds better than saying you have a mini in your pocket. Lol

I have shot quite a few rounds of Thunderbolt out of several handguns. I have never had a problem shooting them, but man are they dirty. I just don't like the amount of time I have to spend cleaning the guns. But, it is cheap, And I will use when I have nothing better.

The auto I saw jam on a YouTube video was a Taurus 738 TCP .380 Semi-Automatic.
I had one that was a jamomatic. After two trips back to Taurus with no improvement, I got rid of it and purchased a Kahr CW380 and never have regretted it.

I've had my Mini Mag with the conversion cylinder for about a year. Yesterday,a Black Widow with the conversion cylinder made its way home with me. It was so cute and fit my hand so well, my wife wasn't even upset with me. I guess one a year isn't so bad. Right, Uncle Lee?

Welcome from Corpus Christi! Mine is the 1 1/8" with the conversion cylinder. I love it and fortunately my wife doesn't.
