I did an "advanced search" on GunBroker and didn't come up with anything.

I've seen them in the past ranging from $2500.00 (before Ranger II) to $1250.00 14 to 18 months ago.

They are worth more to someone that is a "Fan" of NAA Revolvers and "more" is relative to what someone is willing to pay to aquire the item.  You need to find someone that is despiratly looking for that limited model to sell for top dollar.

Other than that someone that has a few NAA's, has heard of the Ranger I and see's one for what they consider a "good price" that becomes the value.

For your insurance concerns, your policy is written to "put you back in pre-loss condition" you will need to find someone with a Ranger I and ask them "how much to sell it to me?" Most of them are not for sale so the price is going to be in the $2500.00 range would be my guess.

If this goes from the claim rep handling your claim to their underwriter, explain the circumstances of the gun's availability (lack of) (have photos, serial #, etc.) If they question the amount of the claim and want to settle, they should supply you with a list of "Like Kind and Quality" of the same firearm for sale and prices for them. (They won't be able to) It will go to the claims supervisor and then to claims management for OK's to pay the loss.

Be persistent and have good documentation, don't accept anything less than what it will take to make you "whole" from a loss whether it's in cash or a replacement Ranger I.

Quote from: OV-1D on November-20-24 08:11Rick thats one beautiful holster but to be honest and I'm always guilty of this but those grips just gotta go , sorry my apologies and sympathies , HA ,HA . You always say be honest RIGHT .  :-X  :-X  :-X  :-X  :-X  :-X  :-X  :-X  ;)  ;)

OV, Please! Just lie to me! Your criticism of my choice of grips has ruined my day  :o lol!

I'm kidding! The "traditional" grips are just too small for me to successfully group multiple shots in a short time.  The first shot is fine, but readjusting after every shot takes too much time and effort.

This is strictly from the view of "concealed carry" and using this for self-protection.

If it was only a "looker" safe queen then the traditional style grips would be a better choice. Most of my guns are "shooters" so I practice with them for that use.

I do have a few that remain with their original grips that Uncle Lee has entrusted to me to cherish; those remain original and unfired. (Ranger 1's and Newbury Park Shorts)  ;)

I don't think I've posted one of these before. The "Small-of-Back" Holster for the Hog Leg is an unusual request, I've only made a few of them.

The shape is ugly "unique" and appears to have a bizarre angle when you first look at it. However, when the rig is worn properly behind you at the lower portion of your back, the reason for the strange angle becomes apparent. (the angle allows for a smooth draw reaching behind yourself)

Has anyone here carried this way?

I know there are quite a few "experts" who say, "No Way," "You can break your back if you fall," and "You muzzle everyone around you when you draw." This is my favorite...
"I knew a guy that became paralyzed when he fell backward on his gun!"[/i]

I must have talked to 4 people who knew that guy! lol!  ;)

Quote from: Anvil on November-18-24 20:11Rick, I ended up purchasing the "Small of back holster" in black. I got it on Etsy since I couldn't find it on your website for some reason. I tried to post a pic but it wouldn't take. Keep on making those stellar leather products!

But uh oh! It appears I hit the enter button twice or something. Please make sure you ship me just one. Thanks

Thanks Anvil. I should put the Small-of-Back Holsters on the website vs. "only" on Etsy.
I made the adjustment to the order, and you should have the refund for the 2nd one soon.

When I read the opening post and saw your list my reply was/is "get the Mini Master"  8)

Loads of fun to shoot and has a nice "balance" to it in your hand, great accuracy and easy to get back on target for follow up shots.

And it looks great in a Cross Draw Holster! lol! (sorry, shameless plug!)  ;)  ;)

Quote from: Ozark75 on October-28-24 12:10Dear NAA

Have you ever considered making a long gun? Something like a Little Badger or a Crickett or a Chipmunk etc? Small, single shot, but with a hammer rather than a plunger. You are good at small guns. You are good at quality guns. You are good at fun yet effective guns. I would prefer 22lr/l/s to start with. I might want one in 22mag also. I bet you could even move some chambered in .32 and .380.

I will be waiting.

Thank you.
A Rifle might be "out of NAA's Wheelhouse".  Their focus is the Mini Revolvers and they don't stray far from that (especially in the last year or so) JMHO  8)

I have 2 of the Chiappa Little Badgers, one in .22lr and the other in .17hmr They are very fine small rifles both have threaded barrels for a suppressor (the SilencerCo Sparrow works great for both) I found both of mine for under $200.00 each.

But, if NAA comes out with a rifle... I'm in line to get one!  8)

There is a Sportsmans Warehouse in North Phoenix I will need to go in and see their stock.

Last time I was there I asked to see a G-19 and the sales person told me I shouldn't look at those I should get a Walther instead because they are "just like" the Glocks! lol!

I don't think he is there anymore! Good help is hard impossible to find!

Quote from: top dog on October-12-24 06:10Rick,
Which Gunsight Instructor was it? The Colonel Himself?Jeff Hall? Clint Smith?

No doubt about it,Gunsite is one of the best,if not THE best. Thunder Ranch is side by side with Gunsite too.

Col.Cooper probably pretty much single handedly put the 1911 on the stage.

For custom 1911s I prefer the Les Baer models but,as you know, there are many out there.

One of my neighbors has a Ruger 1911 Commander and it has not skipped a beat.

Nice to see that you received first class training.

The instructor I shoot with is Freddie Blish. I met him years ago when he was part of Robar next door to my shop (now CTI Coatings)
https://www.gunsite.com/gunsite-instructors/freddie-blish/
https://coatingtechnologiesllc.com

He invited me to his "shooting practice" every other Friday morning at Ben Avery Shooting Range near my house and I started going. It started with 3 to 6 of use and now has grown to 18 to 20 shooters.
https://www.azgfd.com/shooting-sports/ben-avery-shooting-facility/basf-amenities/

I have taken some other classes from other people as well you can never learn enough or practice enough!  ;)

When I "acquired" my first 1911 I felt ill-prepared to carry it. At that time I had only a couple of brief training sessions with a friend, both were with a striker-fire pistol and mostly target shooting.

When a trainer from Gunsite invited me to shoot with him locally and regularly, I jumped at the chance  :)

Professional training introduced me to the "basics" of "Range etiquette", safe shooting practices, shooting in groups safely, clearing malfunctions, and concealed carry best practices for self-defense.

Most importantly, actively learning the manipulation of a firearm under stress (while being timed).
When we are not "under pressure," the time we use to clear malfunctions, mag changes, etc. is not important/stressful.

Practicing with a shot timer allows you to compete against yourself and to measure your progress (and gives your fellow students something to tease you about!) lol!  ;)

Being more proficient with the 1911 first increased my proficiency with other semi-auto pistols I trained with later. JMHO  8)

I don't build the Dual Carry Style Holsters very often.  This client has a couple I did for his other revolvers, so he wanted one for his new Henry Revolver too.

The Dual Carry has belt slots on the back that let you carry "strong side" or "cross draw."
(sorry, I didn't get a photo of the back to show what it looks like  :o )

The secondary retention strap over the gun helps hold it in while on horseback or quads. As you can see there is not much wet molding to do for this style holster, only the general shape of the gun and a site track.

Chestnut color leather and Natural color Thread on this one.

Molding the leather to the gun is the difference between a "holster" and a great "custom" holster!  ;)

Like I had said many times before, your stuff is superb???

I like the way you have that 1911 cocked and locked. Exactly the way John Moses Browning designed it to be carried.

                                                          Top Dog
Thank you Top Dog!
If your 1911 is not "Cocked & Locked" when you're carrying it, you're not carrying it "right"!
The 1911 is not a "beginner" gun.  8)

This is my version of an IWB for 1911's

The Clip is Injection Molded Polymer and is adjustable for tilt angle as well as height.

Height adjustment is done by removing the screws and using the available set screws up to deepen the gun level or down to raise the gun level.

This Holster is "Smooth Leather Lined." The smooth lining makes cleaning the dust out easier to help protect the gun finish.

I know there are some fans here of the Black Leather & Purple Thread  ;)

The Holster is for a Sig P-238 (.380 cal) in the Pancake Style Holster. And it's a LEFTY!  ;)

The Belt is a double-layer gunbelt with the Gunslinger Stitch Pattern. The double layer of leather helps stiffen the belt to help distribute the weight of your firearm and reloads (if you carry them)

Welcome to the Forum!

I have several Black Widows and Mini Masters that were "Long Rifle" from the factory (came only with the LR cylinder)  I sent them to NAA and purchased Magnum Cylinders.

The reason for sending them to NAA is so the cylinder is "timed" to the gun.

As I understand the cylinder-to-frame coupling... Each cylinder is timed to each specific frame and should not be mixed.

If the cylinder is a couple of thousands off the projectile would shave off lead if the edge of the barrel does not line up on center.

Just recently, I picked up another Mini Master that was marked "long Rifle" from the factory with only the LR cylinder. It's heading to NAA to have a Magnum cylinder timed so I have both for it.
See this thread...

Good luck, let us know what you decided to do!  :)

I never cared for the "camo" grips that came on the "Hunter" model.

After removing the original grips, I noticed that they were wood, not rubber, and it appears the camo pattern is spray painted on the wood. Maybe there is another process to do the camo I'm not aware of.

Check out the inside edge on the original grips.

It would be interesting to know how it was done  :o

BTW...
I have a few pairs of CV Revision G-10 grips. I think looks better on the "Hunter" Black Widow. And, they are more comfortable for me  :)

I can't resist a good price on any NAA on Gunbroker.com

This one is a Long Rifle model. I've picked up a couple of Mini Masters and a couple of Black Widows reasonably because people don't bid on them.

I send them to NAA and have a Magnum Cylinder done, so I have both cylinders for each gun.

Thank you heyjoe! It's my pleasure to show anyone who has a desire to learn this craft/art.

I remember wanting to learn to do leatherwork and when I asked people who were tooling leather and building simple horse gear, they wouldn't show me anything... a 14-year-old kid! I didn't understand it and it ticked me off!

So I bought every book I could find on tooling leather and practiced tooling western floral patterns (those were most common on cowboy belts).

After doing a few belts for friends, a Rodeo contractor who saw my work asked me to do trophy belts. I was able to charge for the work I loved to do!

When someone asks me for help/advice/coaching, I show them everything they want and everything they didn't know to ask!  :)

I'll send the money people your way! lol!

Leatherwork has been a lifetime of learning and a ton of money spent on machines, tools, and materials.

I've had several people want to learn. They come to the shop a time or two, and then they see the time it takes (and the money), and they are on to something else  :o

There have been two people I've mentored in the last ten years who have stuck with it and made a business.

They are both gifted artists; they would have done well without my help, it may have taken them longer to get to the point of selling to the public. I like to think I gave them direction to improve their work quicker  ;)  I answered questions for them that took me years to figure out! lol!

They came to the shop regularly for a couple of years to work with me and brought projects to review the processes and get answers and ideas, as well as watch the techniques that I stumbled on to get things right! lol!
