I'm sure there will be an excuse for the inexcusable - at least (happily) they're shooting themselves in the foot by offending loyalists like us.

I'm pretty much done here, also - Via 'Con Dios !

The Bird's head grips work just fine for me, using this method.

I disagree.  I find the font is harder to see well and significantly slows down my reading speed.

I have to agree with that, the font is harder to read.

I would respectfully suggest folks having issues use their computer's "zoom" feature to change from 100% to 110% (or more), so reading gets a lot easier for those effected, w/o having to shift the view to read lines for their full width.

Palmetto has an even better deal on this pump shotgun for less $$$ than it takes for a family to go out to eat today  ( $109 USD )

Well, I guess the NAA board manager wasn't impressed with my offer to help moderate the group, as my moderator privileges--which I've had for years--have been revoked. I was one of the few who were defending NAA's changes here on the board, but apparently my efforts weren't much appreciated.

Sigh.

Frankly, with the new management here, I'm surprised that your OP didn't get "disappeared"........

Doesn't matter, as the ad's been marked as "sold".

Those Rugers were/are pretty decent pistols (I've had several of the older models, over the years).

One or two even had great triggers, right from the factory.

Have you checked out the inside of the slide, under the sight, for any pinning or other means that will keep the sight from moving ?

I'd try a little pinpoint heat there to see if the expansion/contraction loosened things up.

Heat will also help soften any adhesive if the sight's been epoxied in place.

Pietro: Where did you find these grips? Do you know what kind of jade this is?

I didn't find them, I made/shaped them from a pile of various polished jade ovals originally shaped to make slides for bolo ties -they were given to me after the polisher passed away.

There were no matched pairs of ovals in the lot, so I used other pieces for the reverse side of both guns.

your post does not meet the new requirements pertaining to maintaining a safe space. you are in violation of the new rules here.

your post is bullying, demeaning and making me feel unsafe in my space.

re education or removal is the proscribed penalty as per the new management.

+1

This kind of teenage sniping behavior stuff ( like the last couple of posts here) is part of what brought on these onerous changes to this forum.

I had a matching stainless .45 Colt conversion cylinder for my stainless Ruger Old Army .45.

It was "OK", but the cylinder's manufacturer recommended shooting loads that were no stronger than "Cowboy" factory loads.

Eventually, a friend wanted it more than I did, so I sent the whole bundle walkabout to him.

Of course, the fitted presentation case I made for it that went with it made it doubly desirable to him....  ;)

A couple of weeks ago I bought off GunBroker a new Marlin, made by Ruger, 1894 in .357, and I can't believe how stiff the action is.   It is nothing like my old 1950s Marlin 336, and I hope it lightens up with use.   Makes me think I bought the wrong carbine.

FWIW

I've been buying new Marlins since the early 1960's, and every one of them needed breaking in.

The manufacturing process can leave a lot of sharp corners on the interior metal parts, and mostly didn't have the correct lubricants - just metal preservative coating.

I used to disassemble the action, smooth up the parts with a fine India stone/oil, then lightly lube them before spending several evenings cycling the action rapidly while watching TV.

In addition to breaking the action in, the process gave me the additional gratification of really knowing the gun, inside & out. (YMMV)

Yep,. there's no beating a gennie (my 9422 XTR-M was beautifully finished) - but with what one brings today ($$$), it's hard to beat the price of the replacement.

(I also have long had a Henry, too)

My simply stupid version, made of Cordua Nylon webbing & some elastic. (no comparison with your wonderful handiwork, Rick)

It does have the advantage of being able to be folded/rolled into a very compact bundle, for pocket carry until needed....

Thought about getting one of these new Winchester .22 rifles but could not see that they have a mount for a red dot so .................. we just ordered the Rossi Rio Lobo .22 lever gun.  ::)

FWIW, I've mounted red dot & reflex sights onto the RF scope mount grooves and/or at the rear barrel sight location (depending on the gun) w/o much ado.

LHB,
That knife that the DI took away??  It is in his pocket now.

                                                                        Top Dog

How true.......

When I arrived for basic training in 1962, there were two non-coms on the pick-up bus who were threatening jail time for any new recruit who didn't immediately turn over any knives, guns and pornographic wallet pics to them.

They gathered a beer-carton sized box full of those "illegal" items from those on my bus.

They were eventually caught & court marshalled, but I wondered how many years went by before then...

Oh, yeah - I daily carry two folding pocket knives, a Spyderco Police w/serrated blade, a toothpick, and a Leatherman Micro.

The combination has let me take care of almost everything I run across, over the years.

(I'm a city boy, but started carrying a knife daily in 1948)
