vintage airguns!

I am now retired and saw my Colt Python valued at $2000.  Never shoot or enjoy my centerfires sold 5 guns and started buying vintage collectible airguns.  I can shoot and enjoy these in my backyard.

Here's one of my favorites so far a German Haenel 28-R from the 1930's. Built just like a firearm. Only made around 3000 of them.

I'm beginning to feel the same way about all my stuff . Seems senseless collecting all these beautiful pieces for storage only or just to fondle mostly . The airgun thing is most sensible but don't worry I won't compete for those airguns , ha , ha . Myself gold and silver coinage looks better , all I would be doing there is adding also and easier to unload . Good luck with your new venture .
TO ARMS , TO ARMS the liberal socialists are coming . Load and prime your weapons . Don't shoot till you see their UN patches or the Obama bumper stickers , literally . And shoot any politician that says he wants to help you or us .

Why aren't  you out shooting them. That's what they are for. That's what I do. Stop by and I will show you a side  of life you have never seen....
If you buy guns and put them away to make money on them later, that's no fun. If you buy guns and shoot the he(( out of them, and then sell them at a profit when your old, that's the big gain. I want to shoot till my trigger finger is a total wast..

Boone my friend I'm a workaholic with no nearby open space to think about shooting only expensive indoor ranges and I HATE THOSE WITH A PASSION . Besides the mind is strong but the body is getting weaker to do extra activities . All I can do is dream of standing in the middle of a freshly stocked trout stream somewhere . Just need a boatload of money to take my working worries away, maybe someday , sounds pitiful doesn't it but I'm good . Thanks for the offer though .

I enjoy shooting the air guns also, Been using them to start the grandsons out with.
That's a mighty fine pistol you have there and it does look like the German made one.

I'm getting that way too. I care less and less about the pieces I have. Sure, guns still come along that I would like to have, like a Seecamp or Colt 1903 pocket hammerless, but I don't go to any real effort to acquire them.

I've gotten to where I'm more excited to buy fine hats (fedoras and Panamas), which I can wear on a regular basis. I guess we change when we get older sometimes.

Flint, congrats on being able to move on to something else that you enjoy. Great looking piece there. Have you had any issues getting parts for any of the airguns like this if needed?

Kinda funny, but the only gun I shoot these days is a vintage Daisy model 95. I like chasing the squirrels away from the house.   ;D

You usually ok to find seals, or they can be made fromleather.  Other parts as with any antique gun can be an issue.  The key is buying good quality and one the hasn't been abused.  That's all part of the chase.

What do you mean you can't shoot in your back yard? Even if the local ordinances do not allow it..................... all one has to do is mount their suppressor and then nobody can hear you shooting in your own back yard. ::)

They do not even hear me firing off my Mac smg if I get the hankering to do so.

Found another Haenel 28-R in .22 (on top) so now I have both the .177 & the .22.   The 22 was not in mint shape like the .177 but it cleaned up well.  Given it was cheaper I tore it apart to clean and lube, see slideshow at bottom.  80 year old gun and inside like new amazing machining.

Luckily I had a farm to retire to. I just step out the front door and start shooing.

Nothing like German engineering for some of the best pieces . Just for thought there are 177 darts on the market .

I don't have any vintage air guns. My oldest is a Sheridan I bought in the 1960s when I was a kid. Have a springer rifle in .177 on loan to a friend plagued with chipmunks. A beeman P1 scoped pistol, and a umarex/walther p88 co2 pistol, and 4 pcp multi shot air rifles.

Can't shoot fire arms where I live. Have to drive over to a friends in order to shoot those.

Nice looking pistols you have there.

Ruins rifling, these were made for lead pellets.  Some of Haenel's cheaper models were smooth bore.  I have some darts that came with another vintage pistol.

I like air guns, too.  I can practice in the garage if I just want to shoot a little.  I like the cheap Crosmans 1377, 1322, 2400 pistols and the 2600 rifle.  Good for pest control in a pinch.
