I currently have a .22LR mini that I enjoy plinking with, along with a .32acp guardian that have been run through the custom shop and that is phenomnial. Im in a debate with myself to purchase another NAA revolver. I'm torn between the Sidewinder, Pug, and Ranger II. I really like the design of the break top but seems like there may be quality control issues plus finding one seems impossible. Let's hear your opinions please.

The most popular choice seems to be the Black Widow followed by the Pug.  I'm waiting for the Black Widow to be offered with the XS night sights (like the Pug) before I buy one.

I won't carry a laser device... unless it has stun, kill, and disintegrate settings.

WELCOME Bcfd1025

My All time favorite for all sorts of use is the Black Widow.  For Self Defense, Black Widow...but between the Sidewinder and the Ranger II, I love my Ranger IIs.  I know many folks had troubles with theirs, mine were not a part of that.  Sights, please from a few feet I don't use the sights.  The Sidewinder is a good gun, I have two and love shooting them too.

IF you want something for plinking and range type use, get a Mini Master, great sights and they shoot well even from a decent distance.  Get a Mini Master Convertible, so you can plink with 22LR and now nd then blast something with a Magnum round. 8)

Yes welcome Bcfd1025 (did I get it right)

To answer your question, based on the three minis you inquired about I'd go with the Pug. It is by far my favorite of all the minis. My second pick would be the Black Widow like billmeek brought up. Both very solid picks. Once the Ranger II has been around a bit longer and trouble free I may purchase a second one of those to carry as I do love the concept of the break top. Last would be the sidewinder, for some reason it just never appealed to me but that doesn't mean that one won't end up in my collection one day. Time will tell. Whatever you choose I'm sure you'll be happy with it. Don't forget to share some pics. We have see many but we haven't seen yours. Again welcome to the forum.

Another vote for the Pug. It's a must for any collection...well maybe they all are! Either way, the sights on the Pug are nice and I think it's at the best price point when comparing the three you mentioned.

Best current price I found on the Pug XS night site combo (22LR and 22 Mag cylinders) is $345.99 + $7.99 shipping from:

Welcome bcfd
I vote for the Pug to start with.
Then get the Sidewinder.
Then get the Ranger II.
Then get an Earl.
etc, etc.
Buy until your lust has been satisfied.

As soon as I can figure out how to post pics of my NAA's I will get them on here for you all to see. How long till we believe the kinks will be worked out of the ranger II?

RangerJim

Welcome, Bcfd!  I've been super busy over the last several months, so this is actually my first post in a while.  I hope everyone has been well—Merry Christmas and Happy Holidays to our entire NAA family!

I just had to weigh in on this question, if only to echo the earlier comments of Smokeless Joe, Uncle_Lee, and Warthog (among others).  I definitely recommend the Pug, with the BW a close second.  The Pug is currently my favorite backup carry piece.  If I absolutely had to pick one, I'd have to go with the Pug.  It's super small, has great sights, shoots really well, feels great in the hand (and in the pocket), and it just looks awesome!   In a very close second place, I would recommend the BW.  It's everything the Pug strives to be, only larger, and more accurate.  So it's really a trade off between size and accuracy.  Your choice.

In terms of the Ranger as an option ...  I actually prefer the original Ranger to the Ranger II.  Even with the name RangerJim, I actually haven't had the best of luck with my Early Bird Ranger IIs.  By contrast, I have never had an issue with any of my original Rangers—and I have several.  I will probably purchase a couple more Ranger IIs (with custom Serial #s), and certainly hope that I have better luck.  But if not, I still find them to be little jewels.  Just beautiful safe queens.  The bottom line: I think the Pug (or BW) is your best bet.  Believe me, you won't be sorry.
So, making guns illegal will take them off the street?
Perfect!  We should probably make heroine and meth illegal, too!

Good luck on choosing one mini, I don't think I could. I did choose a Guardian 32, and congratulations on yours!

KEN AR

Welcome!

I'd go Pug.  I started with the 1 5/8 Mag went to the Black Widow and have shot a Mini Master.

Next up may be a Pug and then a Mini Master for me.

Let's be honest, for me it will be the next best deal I can't pass up!
