I grew up in small town Kansas. One day long ago I met an old codger in his 80's at the local gun store. I was in my 20's but we hit it off right away in our mutual interest in 30-06 ammo. It turns out we both bought it at the same time so we went next door and sat together over a cup of coffee at the cafe. He eventually told me he had a collection of over 1200 firearms displayed vertically wall to wall in his basement! OMG! M1 garands, 30 carbines, BAR's and other WWII and WWI rifles. I visitied his place by invitation and his claim was indeed real. Row after row of rifles from the world wars.
He told me he never had children and that his wife had never been down to his basement to see what he had colleted over his lifetime.
He told me collecting was his secrect thing in his life. He died only a few weeks later of heart failure and I've always wondered what happened to his massive collection.
I just hope and pray the "state" didn't destroy what he vibrantly collected all his life. :(
You may not need it but should have it.

Hopefully that gentleman had a will and some close relatives/friends to be the benefactors.

Seeing that some of the collection is Class 3 could make it  "interesting"

Past experience with state governments has shown me that they could care less about the history/value of firearms and just as soon melt them down to make man hole covers.

I hope that the man's wife contacted a Military Museum or collector to have the items properly taken care of.

i see up on ebay for sale, military, fire department and police department medals for sale as well as inscribed rings, pendants and helmets with the persons name in them. Those are sold by the family after the person dies. they mean nothing to them.
It's too bad that our friends cant be here with us today

Memories like those should be buried with the recipient instead of putting such items into someones hands that did not earn them ,shame on those family fools .
TO ARMS , TO ARMS the liberal socialists are coming . Load and prime your weapons . Don't shoot till you see their UN patches or the Obama bumper stickers , literally . And shoot any politician that says he wants to help you or us .
