The 22 WMR has always been my favortie caliber.
I reckon that's mostly why I'm here today!
It's much more powerful than the 22lr and it performs with excellent accuracy, it has little recoil and it's affordable.
Back in the day when I was young, I was into IHMSA big time, it was fun competing in rimfire and centerfire competition.
The problem was, my favorite wasn't eligible for 22 competition and the bullets were too light for centerfire, especially at knocking over rams at 200 yds . I tried it with my Ruger Single Six 9 inch but it couldn't compete with my 30/30, even with light reloads in my Thompson 14" Contender.
I still believe, even though many disagree, that it's a good defense compact caliber.
you may not need it but you should have it

Anvil,
I agree with you on that for sure!!!

Like I had said (many) times before, the late Bill Jordan extolls on the value of the 22 mag in a light weight snubby.

Hie book   No Second Place winner was first published in '65 before the minis came out and now,I consider the NAAs to be "super snubbies" in that caliber.

I carried one as my second piece for a number of years.

I've always looked at the availability of caliber ammo on the market with a multiple firearms.
.22lr and .22 WMR truly dominates the market follwed by the 9mm and the .357 mag.
I have other favorites like the .32 H&R  Mag, the 6mm Remington but the ammo is evasive and expensive.
So to me, the rimfire calibers rule the world of fun for shooting, hunting and targets at multii ranges is thing!
in clunsion, i have 6 N'AA's and 4 of them are .22 WMR!

I bought a 22 WMR AMT auto mag II back in the 90's. Nice looking pistol in stainless steel. It had it's problems however, mostly jaming in the extraction of spent rounds with all brands of ammo.
It was really heavy too. I was a revolver man before and definitelyl after selling that one.
I'm sure the ones on the market today are more efficient but I'm sticking to revolvers. ::)

Anvil,
I hear that the newer 22 mag autos are much more reliable now but, like you,I tend to stick to the wheelguns.

However,I do have several autos (Glocks) and am totally satisfied with them.

As for 22 semis,I have several Rugers and they are totally reliable.

One of my favorite ankle guns is a S&W 351C, 7 shot 22 mag, weighing 14 ounces. I can, and have, forgotten it was there.
Guns are a lot like parachutes:

Grayelky,
If I am not mistaken, the 351C is hammerless??  Typical S&W J frame classic.

A true pocket piece.

What rig do you use to carry that gem??
