Ok so I was feeling not right because I made new grips to replace the ones that cracked on my Wasp, and then put them on my BW, and put the old BW grips on the Wasp. So after a few days I had to do something about it. So I made a new set for the BW in Black Walnut, and put the Cherry ones back on the Wasp.
I think I got it right this time, The Black Walnut belongs on the Black Widow, (see that?) and the Cherry on the Wasp goes so much better with my Chestnut pancake.

You posted past my bedtime Al but definitely nice to wake up to. I think you finally got a "grip" on things  ;)

Great job

Most beautiful grips.
What a way to wake up.
Grab a cup of coffee and see those pictures.
The grips match the holster. WOW looking.

While grips may crack due to checking, they won't crack if precaution is taken prior to installing the grips on the grip frame.

I preclude cracking on my revolvers by reinforcing the grips with a piece of small metal tubing, cut to the length equal to the width of the grip frame.

When using tubing, the grip screw is run through the inside of the tubing - which takes up very little more space than the grip screw diameter.

I had 2 grips crack; the first were the stingers with the Walnut and Cherry stripes. They cracked because I failed to account for the glue line when I drilled them for the screw. One side was next to the glue line...
The other one cracked in the making. I tried to make the backstrap too thin so it cracked.
In neither case were they going to last. I consider it a learning experience.

Yeah I learned the hard way also making a set of ivory boot grips , in polishing them you CAN NOT overhead the ivory aside from them yellowing they will develop very small cracks in the ivory . So slow but sure is the trick with that material . Oh and they will shrink slightly .

Beautiful grips Al, congrats.
And though I have neither the skills nor the tools do do it, I'm learning stuff just by reading the interchange between all you craftsmen. Thank you!

I appreciate your craftsmanship Al. Occasionally good craftsmanship rises to level of art. I'd put these grips in that category.
