That is one cool gal.
I was told back in Maine that the deer poachers weapon of choice is the .22mag rifle. But up against a HUGE grizzly with just a .22...?

Two thoughts:

1. skill, bravery, and determination will do that, but I suspect the fact that she had no where to go was the determining factor.

2. don't think it was the weapon of choice,it appears it was the only weapon available.

AFAIK, most independent Eskimo's back then could only use/afford a .22 rifle - although today, some have CF rifles.
