Cosmetic Question

Hi All,

Quick question; not normally critical over cosmetic stuff, but this caught my eye last night after picking up my 22mag/LR and familiarizing myself with removing the barrel and such, perhaps it was the way the light hit it while at the table.  Anyway, the one bottom edge of the frame just under the barrel on one side is a bit "rougher" than the other edges around the barrel, which are all smooth to the touch.

Just curious, common, or was this one cut a little sloppy on the one side?  Thanks; and I do realize nothing is perfect.  ;)

The cylinder , right . Not the barrel ?

I think he means the cylinder, not the barrel. It does look a bit rough under the cylinder. Mine does not look that way.
I'm wondering if the cylinder is rough anywhere on it. Could be the cylinder has been removed several times and put back in a rough way, damaging the frame. :-\

I likley didn't word that right; what I meant, is if you look just below the cylinder, the top edge of the bottom of the frame of the gun, that edge which is closest to the cylinder on the bottom, is cut a little rough.  Make sense?

This verification deal, is this required every time one does a reply or post?  I have great sight and can't read the scribbled over letters - 6th attempt now - will this be it....

Hey John,
No, the rough edge on your mini is NOT normal.

The sign letters go away after about 10 posts.

Thanks for the great info!  Spoke with a gentleman named Dustin a few minutes ago at NAA who was great and answered all my questions.  He said he never heard of a cylinder causing an issue with the bottom edge of the frame; rather, likely just a slip through in production during the mfg process and that rougher edge wasn't caught and corrected - forgot the term now he used, but he knew exactly what I was talking about; almost like some little grooves or tiny chips are on that edge, very tiny, but vs. the other edges which are all smooth, it stands out a little more than I prefer -  esp. if an over-head light in the room hits it.

I may send it in, he said they can fix that and it would return like new; normally wouldn't care, but it's such a cool little piece.

Thanks again everyone!

I wouldn't hesitate sending it back to NAA. Since it is so new, be sure to request a return shipping tag... they will pay for shipping both ways. Not the case if you let it set until later. Very expensive to pay shipping after "new purchase" warranty ($50+).

Ok, I'll send her out today.  Also noticed as I'm packaging it up, the muzzle is a bit off-center (to the left), not a biggie, as long as they test fired it before shipping.

Thanks again.

Looks like this one totally missed the QC checks on the way out the door.  Must have been the last gun made on a Friday before a holiday or something.

I'd send it back for a full replacement.

I'm surprised everyone in this thread isn't a bit more environmentally conscious. That's obviously a carbon steel offset.   ;D

Thats surely a slip in the jig alright . Either thats a real lemon or a priceless masterpiece . I'd would send it back .

UPDATE:

Well, got my little piece back yesterday...  :D

They did a GREAT JOB!  Big thumbs up.  According to the paper work, it appears they replaced the barrel, a spring and the one edge that had minor pitting, is silky smooth and looks identical now to the others - thickness of that bottom edge looks the same as the others too; with a critical eye, this gun looks just flawless.  I won't hit the range until after the Holidays most likely to test, but just wanted to follow-up with a final post on this thread - thanks NAA for doing a GREAT JOB!

Now, off to shovel...  :(
