Don't know if this is the right place for this , but just bought my first NAA Mini Revolver, a 22Mag w/ 22LR cylinder and wanted to join the forum to meet other owners.  So , from Alabama, I want to say Hi to everyone and look forward to learning more about this great little firearm from your experiences.

Dinadan

Welcome, Minishooter. I hope you enjoy your 22Mag w/ 22LR cylinder as much as I have enjoyed mine. I have the 1 5/8" barrel version. Which did you get?

Uncle_Lee

Welcome minishooter,
I think you made a fine choise.
I didn't have to ask which model.
They are all a fine choise.
I'll talk with Alabamaians. They seem to talk OK.

Uncle lee - I guess that means I can reveal my location! If you are going to start selling off your Minis I kind of wish you lived in my state.

Minishooter - I am in Alabama too - down in Mobile.

Thanks for the welcome fellas.  I got the 22mag/22lr 1 5/8" barrel and I will work on my cell phone camera and get a picture on here if I can figure it out.  I'm in the Anniston AL area.  Shot mine a few times today, seems to hit low but probably the way I am holding it.  I think there may be a learning curve on the little rascals before one gets proficient with them, but they are still a hoot to shoot.  Just the thing for me and my pooch when we go walking in the woods.  I have a High Standard double barrel derringer that I have killed two nice rattlers with, but the last one was a little too big and a little too close.  Like the idea of 5 shots rather than two.

First, WELCOME TO THE FORUM!
Next time you go out shooting, try sighting down the top of the frame/barrel, and forget about any sights. You may find your point of aim and point of impact will be much closer together. Of course, like all guns, there is nothing like 500 rounds to help smooth out the aim/impact thing!

I have a couple of those Hi Standards. Always wanted one, back when they were popular, but could never afford one. Now, for less weight, smaller size and a better trigger, we have 3 more shots.

Welcome from Florida...I went to high school in Anniston.  Do they still have the bootlegger store out in DeArmanville?  We used to get beer there when we were 12.  Good times.

Welcome, welcome! Good choice for your first NAA. If you're like the rest of us, it won't be your last! :)

Bleak Widow, could not tell you about the bootlegger in DeArmanville, but the bootlegger on the HorseBlock Mtn/Abel road is gone, whole area is underwater.  Anniston dammed Hillabee Creek up for a water reservior.  Don't mean to sound like a broke record here, but Thanks again for the welcome and I plan on shooting the hound out of my little revolver, heck, that's what I bought it for.  I have no safe queens.  I too feel like with some trigger time, will be able to hit what I'm shooting at.  Tried 7 yd self defense target, kept all five in the mid to upper torso in what one might call moderate fast fire.  I have always had a love for guns, be they long or short.  Have looked at these for a number of years and just never bought one, but I at last succumbed to the temptation and I do not regret it.  One thing though, has anyone had one that the cylinder pin would bind at times, by that I mean when one is trying to pull the pin out to empty and reload the cylinder, not every time but often enough to be aggravating. It too may get easier the more I break it down, seems better than it was at the first.

Minishooter these stainless steel beauties seem to wear in just fine in time , don't be hasty in any mods , they work themselves out mostly . Happy plinking .

These guns are made with such precision, if you get the least bit out of line, it will be difficult to remove. A little "wearing in" never seems to hurt (any gun!). A LIGHT touch of good oil will not hurt. Try Dextron II. Yep, good old automatic transmission fluid. Not my thoughts, but, I have been using it in the shop for 4 years, and like it. One day I will locate a local source for the food service grade oil Mr. Cunningham speaks of, and will try it. The link:

Good advice OV-1D.  I don't plan on doing any modification on mine, figure it's like alot of other things, use and time will mellow out the rough spots,  grayelky, I have had good results using the bulk (not aerosol spray can) of Ballistol Sportsman Oil.  It is a thin food grad oil, solvent developed by the Germans around 1902-03 for use by the German Army.  It has a myriad of uses, oils, cleans powder, lead, copper fouling, use on leather goods, lubicateds, penetrates, truly amazing and best of all, non-hazardous.  Most mail order outfits have it as well as some local  gun shops.  I started out using it to clean  my black powder guns.

OV-1D, you're right on target.  grayelky, just got back from doing a little lubing using your miracle oil (dextron ATF) and it made a noticeable difference in the ease of pulling cylinder pin out.  This is why I like forums such as this.  One, if willing to listen to experience, can gain so much from the collective wisdom of its' members.  Thanks.

Welcome Minishooter. I have one Mini that the cylinder pin is a little stubborn on but a little lube and wear will ease it up a bit. I applaud your Ballistol use. I use it for everything I have and it is great.

Welcome. I am new to the mini's as well. Just bought my first one, a sidewinder, about a month ago. I wouldn't mind latching on to something in the case hardened configuration. They look great. They are fun to fool with, and easy to carry.

minishooter

Congrats on your new sidewinder flatnose. I agree those case hardened one are sure pretty.  I have a friend who is always after me to buy a stainless handgun, so I can't wait to tell him I have, except I want to do it in person so that I can the expression on his face when I show him my mini revolver.  I am quite sure he will not be impressed, but its mine, not his, this is what I wanted and I have other guns for the heavy work.  Like a guy once said in an article in a gum magazine, the majority of CC holders, when needed a firearm didn't have theirs because "they were to heavy", "was going to be gone just a minute", "didn't think I would need it".  With these, you at least can carry all the time because after a little time, you forget its there.  Sorry to be so long winded. Enjoy your new companion.

I too just got a mini-mag with conv. Cylinder. How does it shoot with 22s/lr? Just got 100 roundz of short 22 amo..shooting field is 25 miles away so have not shot it yet...
So many guns; So little money!

minishooter

plinker631, I have only shot the 22mag at the range and it being my first attempt was not anything to get excited about.  Saying that, I was able to keep 5 shots on target at 7yds by just pointing and shooting.  When I tried aiming like with a regular handgun, typically shot low.  You have to realize I am 68yrs old with extensive eye surgeries, but I think with time and practice I will be okay.  It serves the purpose for which it was bought; up close and personal.  The wife is having an issue with her hand so we aren't going to the range this week but maybe next week I will try out the 22lr cylinder.  Enjoy your new piece and be safe.

plinker631

Only got 35 rounds of 22wmr so wont be shooting mags...got 700+ rounds of 22lr/22s so using 22lr ammo I guess...jist picked up another box of Winnie LR ct. 50 a box...

minishooter-
I will give Ballistol Sportsman Oil a shot. Sounds like it is right in line with Mr. Cunningham's research. Glad to know there are more old farts on here. If you will forget the sights are there, and just look down the top of the frame/barrel, you will be quite surprised how much more accurate your mini will be. The article about "the majority of CC holders, when needed a firearm didn't have theirs" and your thoughts are why I bought my first one in 1977. I rarely carry just one gun, and always consider my mini as my, "Excuse me while I get my gun" gun. If you were to quit smarting off to your Bride, she would not have to smack you so often, and then her hand could heal....:)

flatnose-
The CCH guns are every bit as nice as the pictures show them to be. I swapped the cylinder/cylinder pin from one of the blued guns with one of the CCH guns. If I ever get "caught up", I am going to order a CCH gun with a blued cylinder/cylinder pin. If all goes right, this should be just about the time NAA gets caught up. I think it will be the best looking mini ever. The CCH is done by Doug Turnbull (Turnbull Manufacturing). I sent them an email, and they said it would show wear if carried on a daily basis. For me, my blued/CCH gun will be my Bar-B-Que gun, so it will not get a lot of carry use.

Now, if they would build a CCH/blued breaktop..... Sorry, Sandy, but, it would be the best!

grayelky, I guess almost 47 yrs of smacking me has finally taken its toll on my wife's hand :'(.  In all seriousness, She has what looks like a cyst forming on the inside of her thumb right at the web, exactly where the most pressure is applied when she grips a handgun.  She is going to make an appointment with the orthopedic doctor to see what can be done.  She had one yrs ago when I was in the Air Force and hasn't had any trouble till now.  On that thought, she has just also recently taken up shooting a Glock 17 9mm, alot of shots were factory till I could accumulate the brass and some bullets, that could have flared things up, we'll see.  My reloads are starting loads, not much recoil at all, but she still will shoot close to 100 rounds when we go to the range.
