Good buy (maybe) on a BW

This Black Widow is only 4 hours from end of auction and would be a good buy for a forum member if anyone is looking for one.  It is not mine or anyone I know.

He is another one that won't go through a FFL dealer.

I thought all firearm purchases had to be shipped to an FFL?

Thanks for giving us a heads up on this. I plan to get a BW soon. But right now I have save up for and Bushmaster that I put $50 down on.

If the gun crosses state lines in a sale, it has to go through an FFL holder, to be legal.
Guns are a lot like parachutes:

Actually it only has to go TO an FFL dealer.  It can come FROM an individual and be completely legal.

The seller is saying he is going to ship by common carrier, as an individual TO an FFL dealer.  Fully legal.

Here, from the ATF Q&A board:

(B8) May a nonlicensee ship a firearm by common or contract carrier?

A nonlicensee may ship a firearm by a common or contract carrier to a resident of his or her own State or to a licensee in any State. A common or contract carrier must be used to ship a handgun. In addition, Federal law requires that the carrier be notified that the shipment contains a firearm and prohibits common or contract carriers from requiring or causing any label to be placed on any package indicating that it contains a firearm.

Louie is correct.

What I said is that he won't ship through a FFL dealer. Meaning on his end.

My dealer won't receive from an individual. It must come with a signed FFL. He has no idea where my guns are coming from because I buy from auctions, forums, lists, or anywhere I see one that I want. If the person doesn't have a FFL, I will pay extra for it to go through a FFL dealer (well up to a point).

My dealer knows the law and I know the law. This is just how we do it.

I figure if a person really wants to sell their gun, they will go through a FFL dealer to sell it.

Honestly Uncle Lee since the law doesn't require them to I don't see why they would bother, its a whole lot easier to call fed ex for a pick up than to find a FFL who would do that around here, heck its hard enough finding one who will be responsible for incoming shipments without charging an arm and a leg.

If I were you I would find yourself a second FFL who isn't costing you more for no reason.  I mean your FFl's way of doing business would have me charging you $50 for the extra transfer plus 20-25 bucks for the gas for me to drive to said FFL.  You would also have to wait on my convenience to make that drive and ship the gun.

I'm not saying any of this to criticize you, just to point out how it looks from the seller end.

Also since none of this extra cost is covered by the gunbroker rules there is no cover for me as a seller should you try and stiff me for it.  I would have no recourse and might be out that $70 I spent trying to do you the favor of getting this deal done.   Sorry, I wouldn't take that risk for a stranger.

Remember it's a lot easier to sell a gun pretty much any time than it is to find the exact one you want to buy.

There are 3 FFL's within 50 miles of me. Two are store front shops and the other does his buisness out of an electrical repair shop.

None of these three will accept a firearm from an individual unless they order it.

I ask about the FFL before I bid if it is on an auction, forum, or list. All extra expenses are agreed upon before the sale. No one has ever lost a penny on a sale to me.

Check out my feedback on Gunbroker.com. My user name is LEE3370.

In the last 16 months I have bought 18 NAA mini revolvers, 4 NAA Guardians, 1 Star Firestar Plus, and 1 Classic Arms Twister in 22LR.

There are many sellers out there that are willing to do what I need to sell what they have.

The most "extra fees" that I have paid was to a lady in FL who was selling a Taurus Thunderbolt. It ended up costing me $80.00 to get it shipped to my dealer. Then I paid him his $15.00 transfer fee. Everyone was happy.
