  Well I finally ordered my first Sidewinder in 4 inch , only took four days from ordering to receivership thru Bud's Guns , great price with the l.r. cylinder also . Ordered a NAA holster for it and made some boot grips (just finished) for her , how do they look ? Encased the whole grip frame with the grips just to see if the fit (grab) would be firmer , didn't make much of a difference though ............ Making a couple of more sets differently to see how they look  .

Your grips are absolutely beautiful!  If you have the inclination, you might want to hang out a shingle and sell them.  I especially like your Sidewinder birdshead stag grips that extend below the bottom of the frame.

  Combined time of about three hours , thanks . Have more pictures as usual but the computer is acting up AGAIN .  :)

 Yet one more . These pictures are for Rogue who wanted me to post when finished . Kinda a rush job but came out pretty good , funny how your antler ideas always change as one starts to work with the piece , always trying new ideas with construction and shapes . I love working with elephant ivory , looks and feels so fine , but the elephant has to give it their all just for it's tusks , bastard poachers which are the true rabid animals of the wild .

  Thanks Rogue these pieces are always subject to improvement at any time . Ha , Ha . Always looking for new types of medium to work easierly with . So hard to find antler that doesn't have too much marrow centers that don't show especially when one doesn't want to waste any of the product .  :) :)

Better pic of sidewinder with sambar stag grips along with a buddy . These grips on this Earl I just finished with material left over from the first set . I think I found a new shape that fits extra well in the palm , they feel amazing .

Thanks guys , if you do a "homemake grips" search above, I believe its the first thread that comes up on kinda showing how to begin making some sets . Always willing to instruct the how to do or atleast how I do them , always room for improvements . It's all in the tools actually . ;) ;)

  P.S. one more thing though , outstanding pieces of stag antler produce outstanding grips in the end and not all stag pieces are very good looking , you gotta be picky besides the high price of this stuff has caught on everywhere , it would be best to find already dried out anther thats not too newly cut anyways and without too large of marrow centers . You got the money find some elephant ivory or mammoth ivory those are beyond compare in feel and looks . Keep in touch if your serious about any sites for materials . Elephant ivory goes for your first borns anymore , I've lost two of my kids making two sets already . ;D ;D ;D

If the new Breaktop ever becomes a reality I intend to find out the company that Lee used to blue/blacken it and would like ivory boot grips.
Having ten thumbs I would be happy to pay to have a set made up.

Harry my man I have to respectfully decline making any for the time being . I'm the kind of guy that does these things by hit and miss with the feeling I need to do something different on occasion . I get in the mood and start three or four maybe five sets at a time then get tired and bored with finishing two or three sets then months later the urge to go again kicks in ( have seven uncompleted sets of various materials sitting , some for months now). Vicious cycle of life I suppose besides Unc_Lee knows more about actual makers that would be a whole lot cheaper and probably better at it than myself .
  As for the artificial ivory I haven't worked with it exactly plastics yes but not the resin material or other compounds . Theres a artificial sambar stag that looks better than the real stuff till you start to work on it after carving on it it looks plastic because buffing it doesn't add color or depth .
  P.S. Harry I'd be a pain in the a## asking what about this or what about that or how does this look and so on , you'd put on your no contact list Ha Ha Ha . Start your own time is limitless that's how I started , the slower the better I've found rushing only gets you in trouble .
