Well, I put my new diamondwood grips onto the Black Widow I usually carry, here they are and I also attached a picture of the BW in my current holster.  Waiting for the new one from Rick and then, you guessed it, another picture! 8)

Nice. I'm also waiting on a new holster from Rick. Pics to follow.

How do you like the feel of these grips?   I am torn, originally I found these ugly but now they are growing on me.

They feel great, make it easier to hold and shoot.

Nice Warty. I'm getting the black ones for now, but looks like the Dymondwood Grips wont be far behind. I get a better idea of what they look like with the pic ya posted.

keithd

I may do the same as arts09 go with the lower cost version to try them out

They grew on me too. They give you great control when firing your mini.

Grats, will look great in a holster from Rick.

I still think they are ugly but I might change my tune if I tried them (grips).

Warthog

I bought the plastic ones first to see if I would like them.  It is the best way to go IMO.  I liked them so I got some of the wood, I like those as well. :)

Dangit. I've seen so many pictures of those grips that I just gotta try a pair and see what the fuss is all about!

That's why I went with plastics. Good for edc.

Warthog

Dyed wood, who cares?  I like these things.  They look nice enough and they feel great.  The Black Plastic ones are great for EDC too.

In the old days we called that plywood. :P

I sure wish he would go back to a real wood instead of the laminates but the laminates are MUCH better than nothing.

I think I found a decent stippler locally so am thinking of getting a set of plastic grips and getting them stippled.

I don't think the first ones were "real wood" either.

Very nice! To my eye, those grips look perfect on the Black Widow revolver.

The first of CVang grips were the same "wood" as he is using now. The newer ones are just a touch thicker, which is ok, BUT, the finish is much closer to being slippery now. That I don't care for. I would like to run across some of the first gen CVangs in blue.

Plywood has the "grain" at 90* on each layer. Dymond wood has all the "grain" oriented the same direction. The adhesive is also different, it is applied under tremendous force, which pushes the adhesive into all the spaces, making Dymond wood more stable and less prone to warping than natural wood or plywood.

Very nice Joe. Finally received my grips yesterday. Can definitely get a better hold on the BW know. Been tire kicking these for a while now!   :)

I thought I had seen some out of walnut or rosewood or something.
Maybe it was made out of Diamond wood with a good grain finish that looked like "real wood".

If the newer grips are too slick you can always roughen them up and refinish or thin them down.

Again I like the look of Uncle Lee's with the grooves cut into the grips...alas no more.

Maybe strategic stippling on the wood grips (stippled panels) would make them grip better.

Although the wood ones look nice with the grain, the plastic stand up better for edc. I ended up sending back the wood in exchange for the plastic. Cvang was very understanding. He seems to want happy customers. Good guy.

They haven't seemed slippery to me, I wonder what is up with the ones that do feel that way to the user?  They give me a longer, more secure grip which was what I wanted.  The wood ones look good enough to me, the plastic ones are good for EDC weapons.  I would like to find some other grips that are good looking but so far I haven't found any.  Cvang grips are nice but I want something extra special for my Ranger because I just want that, also for the one short I plan to have engraved to use as my pocket watch fob.

Have you heard of thing meister fabrication? Similar to CVang but with more variety and higher price tag.

Just checked the Meister site. Looks like $10 more a pair than Cvang. Seems to be worth it with additional color choices and being real wood.

Warthog

Can you give me a link to THING MEISTER'S site?

Let me know how you like them. I'm wondering if they will hold up better for edc than CVangs wood grip. Please keep me posted on that if you don't mind.

Sure will! I should have them this week cause this was the last pair he had in stock.

Exactly. But the reality is the real wood is out there. I can get Walut, Maple Cherry and a whole host of other native woods.
I know most of you like the shape of c-vangs. I like a more rounded shape for mine and I carry it that way. I think the cherry looks good, and the wood cost me next to nothing. The cost for most wood grips is in the labor if hand made, or the machinery if not. The wood availability or cost is not really a factor.

Nice looking real wood bird grips. Did you make them? Being a carpenter all my life i should really give it a try.
