Hi group,
In my 1 5/8" mini revolver and my 4" The Earl, both in 22mag, the 45gr Crit Defense does not impress me.
Avg 1038 fps from the 1 5/8", 107 ft lbs energy. Out of the 4" bbl Earl, avg 1238 fps, approx 153 ft lbs.
I'll stick with CCI Maxi Mag 30 gr polymer pointed tip. In the 1 5/8" mini,  1284 fps and 110 ft lbs.  Out of my 4" Earl it clocked 1596 fps giving 170 ft lbs. And with that hard plastic pointy tip, penetration!  (which is what I'm looking for out of these little guns anyhow.)
During the ammo crisis and before I got my chrono I bought ANY .22mag I found in stock.  I remember thinking the Hornady stuff would be great, and then I found two boxes of it. Happy!  But since ammo has become more available again, and especially since chrono'ing everything I had, I'm buying the CCI 30gr. polypoint Maxi when I see it.
These is my results; remember every gun/ammo combination is an individual, so test and measure what you use....

Thanks, splntrp!  I actually check AmmoSeek fairly regularly, but haven't in a little while.  Hornady is virtually non-existent, but I just picked up some Speer Gold Dots!  Appreciate it!

Available in 50, 500 or 1,000 rounds. If you want 500, for some reason it's cheaper to buy 10 of the 50 round boxes, I'm not sure why.

Somebody else has Gold Dots...another 10 boxes.

Everytime I open a box...more 22 mag ammo.
I need to put it all together to see what I really have.
Federal, Winchester, Hornady (all different sorts of bullets), CCI, Speer, Remington (now that was expensive stuff back when I got it...maybe only 2 boxes here and there).

I could retire if I hadn't invested so heavily in 22 mag ammo 

I need to go out and use some of it up and replace with fresh ammo
