As most know, we folks that live in the prison called Calif., besides the 1 5/8" minis, we can only purchase the 4" bbl. of the other models.

I e-mailed NAA about a possible ETA on the 4 inchers and Jessica said it'll probably be 6 months. So the wait is on. Enjoy your Rangers you lucky stiffs that live in free states!  :D

lefty dude

You have a choice, You too can live in a free State.

theysayimnotme

Where in the DPRK can you get a 1 5/8" mini? Only the 1 1/8" ones are on the approved list.
I would leave in a second if Shewhomustbeobeyed would agree.

45flint

Actually 6 months is pretty fast for a new issue to get longer barrels.

redhawk4

6 months is a long time to be in California for anything IMO. :)

We are talking about living in a state that keeps reelecting Gov. Moonbeam?

Hey California! Maybe you should change your governor and lawmakers, and get real gun laws... It might be faster!

You are correct. I'm always getting that wrong. Thanks for the correction.

Yeah, yeah, yeah. Move away and all the slams from out of staters. Always the same responses. Easier said than done. I was born here and all my family is here and besides, I live on the side of a beautiful mountain with no neighbors near the Oregon border and I can shoot in my own backyard and my place is completely paid for. No crowds, no traffic jams. How many of you can say that?

California really is a beautiful state and I live in the most beautiful part of it. I vote for pro gun candidates every time so what else can I do? 80% of the county I live in votes Republican every election. It's not our fault the the '60's radical yuppie liberals in the S.F Bay area and L.A. make all the rules.

In fact that's why we still are pushing for the State Of Jefferson here where we can make our own rules and lock out those liberals in S.F. And L.A.

Anyway, I'll just have to have patience and wait for my 4" Ranger II and keep the slams coming! :)

I could until I got old and broke down and had to move to town.
Still have 10 acres out there where we go shoot.

Well I was born in Texas and a few decades later married a Yankee.  She thinks temps over 100 are only used for baking.  I have a worse opinion of NY.  So we moved to Virginia.  Have a small cow calf operation, shooting range in our back woods and can see the Blue Ridge.  Life can take many turns.

heyjoe

i wouldnt feel too comfortable in Virginia as far as gun rights go....the legislature may flip with the result of the contested one vote difference election result and a democratic governor. 30 years ago California wasnt that bad as far as gun rights go.
Virginia is changing rapidly.

It's too bad that our friends cant be here with us today

Virginia would be a completely different place if we could get rid of No. VA and all the gun-hating libs that flock there. Most of the Commonwealth is made up of gun loving good ol' boys, myself included. If anyone out there knows of someone crazy enough to take NOVA off our hands, we'll be glad to give it away. We can throw a governor in just to sweeten the deal!

I cannot say that, I wish I could.  At least then I would not feel so alone.  I could walk in my woods and shoot and even hunt.  But now, it seems I am not going to be able to do any hunting.  It would be great if I could hunt a feral pig or a deer.  I would love to have a jaw of a feral pig or some venison.  Oh well... :(

I live in Oregon, but there are two words for those who think the solution to California gun laws is to move elsewhere: "golden handcuffs"!

gebe

Good for you folks that have what I have! Isn't it great? Especially having no neighbors. I quit my job of 20+ years in Los Angeles and moved here 25 years ago not long after a divorce. I was going nuts in Southern Calif.

Met a great girl from Iowa 20 years ago and have been happy ever since. My adult children are still in L.A. but still see them from time to time.

California as far as guns go was as good as any state 30 years ago. You could walk into a hardware store, gun shop, whatever and buy whatever you wanted. The '60's hippie dippies slowly started taking over in the House and Senate and slowly our gun rights started eroding. It could happen to you even in your "free states" and don't think it couldn't.

We gun rights people fought hard with our votes but there were more yuppies in L.A. and S.F. Bay area that negated our votes. In Calif. there are now more people that live here that came from out of state than natives and they too are swayed by the yuppie liberals that are scared of everything especially guns.

I wish it wasn't so but I'll keep enjoying our little piece of heaven here and also keep patiently waiting for my 4" Ranger II!

Haha!  That makes me a "Hippie Liberal" that builds holsters for a living!! lol!!

I am a AZ resident but go to CA visit family & friends often.  I grew up & lived on the coast in Ventura, left there to move to HI. You think CA is anti gun! Check HI out! They don't want anyone to have guns.

I only wish to go back during the summer. AZ is so F@#%ing HOT July to the end of September.

If I get away 4 or 5 times during the summer go surfing, take a boat trip out to the Channel Islands and go SCUBA Diving & Kayaking , just to cool down a little.

Then I can tolerate AZ Summers.  Next year I'm looking at going to some of the CA gun shows to get away, take Mrs. Gun Leather & the dogs and cool down.

I carried for years while living in CA.  Never an issue. (yea I know, not legal, save the lecture)  "Pulled" once on a guy trying to steal my truck,  just about peed his pants!  He decided it would be better to move along.

And,  I will buy any version of Ranger that NAA puts out 2.5", 4", 6", 8" !! lol!!

Nice story Rick. I guess you could have called me a "hippie liberal" back in the early '70's. When I returned from Viet Nam and was honorably discharged from the Marine Corps in 1970, I did a bit of rebelling. Grew my hair to my shoulders and lived in a Helms bakery van, (NOT down by the river! :) ), I bought cheap for about 6 months. Met a girl, got married, started having kids and all that changed!

You wouldn't think so growing up near L.A. in Whittier but I got into guns and hunting early at 14 years old through a friend I met who grew up in Klamath Falls, Oregon when we moved to Long Beach. We used to hunt pheasant and quail where the Long Beach airport now stands and hunted cottontails a few miles outside of Riverside which is now nothing but a huge traffic jam.

I too have done a lot of kayaking and really got into sailing years ago. Have sailed across the Monterey Bay many times and to Catalina Island. I know the Channel Islands well as I did a lot of deep sea fishing in that area years ago. What a disaster in Ventura with those horrible fires!

Anyway, good memories and I feel bad for you guys in the midwest and east that are getting that cold and snow. We usually have a foot or two of snow here this time of year but even though it's cold, we're bathed in beautiful sunshine now and loving it!

I'll contact you soon Rick about those holsters I e-mailed you about.

Hi Kevin,
Thanks for your reply but how exactly would you uproot and move if you owned a place here, ( read all above), just because you enjoy your weapons too much and how would you go about it?  I also enjoy my weapons too much too. I apologize, but your post is exactly what I expected when I started this thread.

Sorry, but it's the same old same old that I should move out of Calif. except it's not feasible. Glad you could do it. Are you rich?

RogueTS1

I believe I would just buy another place located in another state. Cali house for the weather and the scenery and the other for my firearms needs.  :P

Tried that about 10 years ago. I put an offer on a condo in Lake Havasu City, Arizona. I offered less than the asking price but expected a counter offer or at least a refusal. When I got home & checked the internet I found they had dropped the asking price to what I had offered. I stayed in contact with the agent but he could never get a response from the bank. After a couple of months I gave up.
After that I was trying to help my son buy a house & I discovered the asking prices for repossessed house were not what the banks would actually take. They were just to start the bidding.
By now of course the great opportunity to buy is long past.

Warthog

Well gebe, I lived in Illinois and it is almost as bad as Cali, at least it was while I still lived there.

I sold my house and moved to Indiana, it was easy, just packed up and sold what I didn't want/need, threw out a lot of stuff and moved.  I could not live in IL anymore, the taxes and firearm laws were killing me.

California never appealed to me.  I guess I was never a big beach person.

In any case, California is starting to get smart with the whole gun control idea.  Take away the ammo and who cares if they have a gun?

Actually I offered lower then what the starting price they countered and I stuck to my offer after a few back and fourths they took my original offer.  :D

I don't really know.. In the 25 years I have lived northwest of the city I have never seen that much, the most that was ever on the ground at once here was 23". This year we have had nothing that was more than 2", although we might get 3" with the one starting tonight... Boston is expected to get up to 2 feet, but not here. Our average here is 21-22" through a whole winter.

Again, who the heck can do that and wouldn't do that if one could? This thread has deteriorated to such fanasty! Yeah, I'll just buy another place, in another state, call for weather, the scenery and the other for my firearms needs and then move!

My gosh, that's really easier said than done and  really not feasible. My gosh Rick, that you agreed to that fantasy!

This thread has turned into how EASY it is to move to another state and THAT Is a fantasy! Glad all you guys did it and you guys who don't live here that could easily do it if you didn't live here.

Geez, the conceptus is it's so easy. Sorry, but  all you guys are really are dreaming. I'm sure most of you will say you own your property outright but I REALLY DO!

Thank you all for your responses but my thread really has grown to and continues to grow to I where should move out of Calif. and that it's really easy to do. Thanks for your opinions.

Bigbird48

Well it is pretty easy, in Oct 2010 My girlfriend and I were sittin around the woodstove she was moaning about the cold and said lets move someplace warm, I said AZ is warm, so we started lookin at houses on the net, found 3 that we kinda liked, first week of Dec. I flew out here rented a car and drove around lookin at the 3 , I called her said I liked this one cause the other 2 were really in the desert and this one was near the mountains and was just better , she said OK I called the realtor negotiated my price and said we'd close first of the year. I flew back sold my house in 3 weeks, took a beating but I needed to sell it. We did all the paperwork over the net for this place and the 1st week of Feb 2011 we packed up everything we could get into 2 pickup's and 2 uhaul trailers, including are you ready ...get this 6 cats, 8 snakes, 3 ferets and a dog and drove 5 days cross country. Sneaking in all the animals to motel rooms each night.  EZZZ PZZZ ;D and now I want to move back, but having a hard time trying to sell this place. Anyone want a 3 bed 2 bath mfg with 4.5 acres in the foothills of AZ. Great view :D
