Hello all,

I'm new to NAA firearms and thought I'd say hello.  I recently acquired a used Bug Out in 22LR and have been looking at some things to mod on it over the next year.  I really like the gun.  The CV grips look like a good add on and will probably make a set of those one of my first purchases (if I don't just save up and buy a Black Widow to mod instead).  If you've got any tips for a new addict I'm all ears.

Honky Tonk Man

Hey dsnitker, welcome aboard!  If your bugout is one of the originals with the orange grips and only a .22LR cylinder, why not send it back to the factory, and have them fit it .22 Magnum cylinder?  Then you can use it with magnums for self defense, and long rifle loads to practice with.  It doesn't take them long, or cost that much.  Call the customer service line and they'll tell you how to do it.  Your choice if you want it fluted, or straight-walled.  Other than the grips, there isn't too much else you can do to change them.  A nice holster from Rick (member here) at  desertgunleather.com  is also a great way to carry, protect, and set it apart from the rest of the pack.  Have fun, and keep us posted.  Pictures always appreciated here.

Thanks for the welcome!  It is one of the original orange handled models.  I bought it used at a LGS recently and got a great deal on it.  After shooting it and carrying it around a bit, I'm hooked.  I usually have something a bit bigger for self defense on hand, but getting a 22 magnum cylinder might be a good plan.  I've seen the CV handles so far, but was curious if there were any other recommended sources for quality handles.  I'm hoping to get something in silvertone/black to match my SP101 .357.

Thanks again for the welcome!

Welcome aboard and enjoy the mini. Don't worry about the Bugout, if you are like 99% of the rest of us it is just your "first" mini. The BW and Pug are 2 of my favorites. I will add another vote for getting Rick to twist you up one of his holsters, very nice work from him.

Welcome to the Cult Forum!  You will soon collapse to peer pressure and be hunting for your next NAA Mini (I'm guessing  ;))

Changing out the grip is a pretty easy mod. Getting the Magnum cylinder is a good idea. (as mentioned above  :))

I know a "Guy" that makes Leather Holsters for NAA's  :o lol!!

Pocket carry is a very popular method.  There is also "Strong Side" Pancake type Holster or "Cross Draw" Off Side carry that both slide on to your belt for "open carry". (If you live in a state that allows)

Here are a few photos to take a look at some options.

Once you're through the first 15 posts it's easier to post.

Again.... Welcome to the Forum!!  Post Early and Post Often!  ;)

Welcome to the forum.  As you can see it is a large group of enablers.  Rick is one of the champion enablers.  He does make a mighty fine leather transportation system for all NAA's.   Yep he even does custom thread colors just to match your grips.

I love my Black Widow. I do think you need the Mag cylinder if it is the Magnum frame.  Just another option for self defense.  I can guarantee the Mag shot shells play heck on the snakes.  Gave my son in law one of the 1 5/8 Magnums and it has killed many Copperheads this year.

Enjoy it and make certain to post and get past those first 15.  Pain but it gets better.

My wife is going to be thrilled I found a group of enablers :).  In all honesty she will probably get the next mini, she's been eyeballing mine.

Here's a picture of the inordinate amount of junk I had on my person for a trip this weekend to Central Texas for an early Christmas celebration with my folks and my sister's family.  6 people in the car, luggage rack full - good old fashioned road trip.

I'm looking at a set of hardwood grips for the .357 and will be shopping around for something I can match up with the bug out.

I'm digging several of those holsters above, I could definitely see myself ordering something along those lines.  I threw the little pocket holster in this photo together after I got the gun so I could take my time shopping for something I'd like.

The forum verifications are just a hiccup - better that than a pile of spam!

dsnitker-

Welcome!!

You can rest easy when it comes to ordering from Rick. I have several of his holsters for my personal use, including what he calls "pockets". They are, I think, perfect for front pants pocket carry. Relatively soft, flexible leather that simply breaks up the outline and keeps the lint off. He is adept at using various colors of threadto sew his leather with, giving hisholsters a unique look. The one on my pocket, at present, is black leather with purple thread. I also have a couple sets of the CVang grips, and like them. Gives you a little more to hold onto and still easy on the pocket when carrying.

If/when you remove the original orange grips from your Bugout, use plenty of oil, and if available, I have read an air compressor helps a little. You cannot go too slow. Done carefully, you can remove those ribber grips without damaging them, making them reusable.

The big question is, which one is netted?

Welcome to the Enabler's Club. Some folks think it's about the nicest bunch of "understanding" folks on the internet. I agree. There's everything here you could want! We have lots of years of gun knowledge and appreciation but also a lot of humor, satire, political education, and just plain tomfoolery. It's a great place to hang out.

So - have fun, learn something if you can and enjoy becoming an enabler yourself!

Howdy dsnitker,
Welcome to the forum. You'll find one leads to two and so on! You'll also find this forum abounds with good people, always willing to share their expertise and advice! A great place to hang out and contribute. And photos are always a must! My latest is the Color Case Hardened Mini with engraved wooden boot grips. Magnum of course! Love it! Makes a total of 6 for me now!

Well.....I had to convince my wife that the CCH finish was a good thing! She strongly prefers I buy all stainless as it is more durable. And for the most part, I agree with her. But the old west look of the CCH finish was just too darn good looking to pass up!

Welcome, dsnitker ... especially to a fellow gamer!  <I can tell by your keyboard;)

Hello, my name is Jim, and I'm an addict.  My admission to the "program" was a little over two and a half years ago (March 2016), when my late father-in-law gave me his Black Widow.  Now I have more than thirty of these little gems.  Good luck my friend ...

And may God have mercy on your wallet.
So, making guns illegal will take them off the street?
Perfect!  We should probably make heroine and meth illegal, too!

Welcome!
Great group here.  I live in the Phoenix area, Lucky cause I can drop by Desert Gun Leather on my way home from work.

Just an FYI for everyone, Rick is a workaholic, not just a leather enabler!  He is there many nights after 6PM still making those great holsters!

I have a similar challenge coin, USAA by chance?

I miss central Texas.  I went to school in San Marcos and latter on lived in Pfulgerville for about 10 years. Originally from Galveston County.

I started off with a 1 5/8 Magnum and 2 weeks latter had a Black Widow.  Rick let me shoot his Mini Master and I hate to say it but that one might find it's way into my carry rotation at some point.

Enjoy the NAA ride it is a fun one.

KenAZ,
The mini master is pretty much unique in the naa line up.

I pretty much think of it like the original "boot pistol".  I had one of the early ones and later shipped it back for a cylinder pin upgrade.
