Greetings:

In terms of clothing, cargo pants are my choice.

To handle the keys, I carry (I have a number of them), I have two hooks that go onto my belt loops.  It helps with access when I have to open and lock door where I work.  In the pockets, I keep a Swiss Army style tool set, wallet, phone, a mechanical pencil, the Mini-Master, extra ammo and a cylinder inside a medicine bottle, a small note pad, and a micro-stapler.  Cargo pants are great !

When at school (I am an educator), I have to keep the Mini-Master and the medicine bottle at home because it is illegal to carry those to work.

In cooler months, I wear a multi pocket vest and I carry items in those.

I hope my students keep the 9mms and other firearms they occasionally carry stored out of sight in the backpack and never use them.  They do not trust the law for some reason. :(

Students?  With firearms in their backpacks?  Man, tough school!  :o

Astrosaint; I am with you in many ways.  I am a retired Community Technical College instructor, we also were the area vocational school for the local high school districts.  During my tenure there and still today cargo pants are my choice.  I wear cargo pant shorts during the summer months and usually wear Wrangler brand Riggs Work Wear pants during the winter months.  I always have a Black Widow in the right hand cargo pocket of my pants, phone in the left, but usually carry a Glock 26 on my belt under my shirt.  In the cooler months I have a multi pocketed vest that I also wear.  I bought one and liked so much that my wife used it as a pattern and made me one out of heavy camouflage cloth, and then one out of black denim.
I have been retired for a few years now and am sure that it is a much tougher place to be now, then it was back when I was there, but I always had a weapon of some sort in my pocket, and at least a fast-open folding knife as well.  We had good security but then they can't be everywhere at once.  There was always a disgruntled boyfriend or husband looking for a wife or girlfriend to hassle.  One time it was the other way around, wife looking for husband, that will bring the hackles up on the back of your neck.  Those kind of places are tough schools.
A gun is like a parachute; if you need it and don't have it, you probably won't need it again.

Try mother entering school with .38 special to settle a dispute between her son and another student !  The principal tackled her Joe Namath style and his only armament was a ball point pen....

Ok--The whole story.  Back in Feb. 2019, a 9mm Baretta was stolen out of a truck parked at a Lowes.  The student was to trade it for a pound of weed.  The drug dealer was 14 and was busted.  The police managed to get him to say what the pound of weed was for, he said it was to trade for a 9mm that another 14 year old had.  That student had the piece in his backpack when he was picked up from school after the confession. :o

But, WAIT! A handgun at a school? That simply can't be. Must be some of that fake news stuff. After all, isn't that a gun free zone? How could a child possibly bring a gun into a gun free zone? Surely there has to be a misunderstanding.

Unfortunately, the 14 year old child drug dealer will not get any punishment for dealing at school, and likely will get nothing extra for the gun. He will be coddled and told it is not his fault for the environment he is being raised in. Your principal did a brave thing. At least, as a LEO, we were still allowed to have a firearm to protect the citizens, and ourselves, with. I wonder how much longer that will last.

Back to the thread...my legs are too short for cargo pants or cargo shorts. With the shorts I look like I am wearing high water pants...If I had average length legs, I would be 6' tall not 5'6".

I am only 5'7".  Cargos work fine on me.  The 30" inch length works for long and the shorts go to the knees

It is amazing how the width started overtaking the length in such a short time . After two-thirds of my life went by with longer legs the last third was the problem , AND HOLDING , thank GOD .. :)

I keep telling Rick that Desert Gun Leather needs a Cargo Pocket holster in the lineup!

Make it a Little wider and place the gun in the center so that the holster does not do the pocket rotation.

Maybe a knife slot in front, gun center and a few of the loading strips on the other side.

It doesn't matter how short your legs are as long as they reach the ground!

OV-1D

Good thought MainStreet , I was going to say as long as they hit the ground getting out of bed in the morning , things are good .:)

It does when the "stuff" in your pocket is banging on the scar tissue of former knee surgery...

Long torso and most of the muscles are arms neck (19") and shoulders. I do make out OK in most paddling boats...well except paddle boards.

My wife was kind enough to modify some of my cargo shorts for CC. The problem I had was that the pistol would turn over sideways or backward so if I ever had to draw quickly there's was no telling which part of the pistol was facing up. This would happen with any holster I tried. The other issue was most of my shorts had buttons, Couldn't leave the buttons unhooked because the pocket would just lay wide open. What my wife did was to replace the buttons with velcro and also stitch some in the pocket so the pocket was just wide enough to keep the pistol from rotating out of position.  If I wanted to put something else in that pocket, like a hat or phone, the velcro pulled apart easily to make for a full size pocket. I wore out all those shorts so I need to ask her to modify a few more.

I am NOT coming to NAA forums for fashion advice!   :)

Not gonna do it.

Wouldn't be prudent.

You guys had me looking at cargo pants with pockets way down the legs. That's so far away! I did find some jeans with a sixth pocket for a cellphone, but it's on the back of the right leg. What happens when you sit down? You call your mother?

Not gonna do it.
Wouldn't be prudent . . .

I used to have a ringtone in a rude Brooklyn female voice that said "pick up the phone, it's your mother".  Loved that thing, especially when I needed to get out of a meeting.
