New USA made ZIP modular weapon system from USFA.

Wonder what you folks think of it?

Looks like a lot of fun but I don't quite get it.  A combat 22? They're kidding, right?

What is the point? Oh, wait! I can hang a really ugly plastic .22 thing-a-ma-gig on the end of my AR and watch an agressor die laughing. Neat! Should make for a good tax write-off for its' investors.

RogueTS1

I agree; I don't get the rationale behind its design. Why would one need or want a .22lr hanging off their carbine? Now maybe as a survival rifle for pilots it may be a new and good idea.

I'm with you. I'd buy one for $200 also but I'll bet the price is going to be closer to $400 plus optional stock, plus optional attachment points, plus plus plus

I don't need options. I don't need to mount it on another gun. Give me the gun itself and I'm good. I'm always a sucker for another cool (a.k.a weird) .22LR handgun. :)

Here's another from from this site with a hi-cap mag:

I didn't want to say that it looked like the answer to ten questions that nobody asked.........

OK, so, instead of mounting it under another gun, can you bolt two of these together so you can fire them repeatedly with opposing hands? :) I could see that being fun...

Looks Interesting. I Think I Will buy one when they become available and try it out. I Will look into making it a Class 3 if legally possible.

Maccab

I like it, but for the size of it... Width etc, .22LR seems to small, .22 hornet, .224 Boz, perhaps... 5.7x28mm, that larger mount is that for shooting round corners camera job?

Just another guys idea on how to get some government monies . Every quirk of an idea comes out of the woodwork when federal money is concerned probably by somebody relative in government no doubt . More bullsh*t . They just can't keep from spending our hard earned bucks because what they don't use they lose .

YA, I am going to get one........
They should be shipping now.
Next time I see my dealer, I am going to see if he will order me one.

Just because they are different.
I won't buy two of those.

I REALLY want one. But my two Sidewinders are pushing back any future purchased until my pocketbook can recover. Maybe I'll have one by next summer, when supply exceeds demand.

Uncle_Lee

I just got back from the gun shop.
I have one on order. Yep one, not two, that is just for minis.

There are two gun shops and a pawn shop that sells guns within 20 miles of me and guess what.

What?
What?

There is not a Ruger 10/22 in stock in any of them.
All of them have the 10/22 on backorder and don't know when they will be in....... 8)

Buff the lettering off the frame and magazine and you could toss it in the toolbox and I doubt many people would recognize it was a gun. Many would think it a surveyor's or carpenter's tool.

Uncle_Lee

Ya Kevin, that's what I thought.
It looks nothing like a firearm.
I am going to get a 50 round teardrop mag for it.
That should look really weird.

When the time comes we are going to need 30 calibers or Nato round shooting weapons .It would be wiser to invest in a good M1Grand or better . Myself a couple of good RPG's would suit me fine not a 22 that looks like a nail gun .

MSRP=$199.99 without a magazine. This is the one I ordered.
$20.00 more with a magazine.
I will buy the mag at the dealer's shop. It will give him a little more profit for ordering it for me.

I find it a tad disturbing that their youtube commercial at the end says Soldiers a new reality then the very next quote is the new fun . I just know anymore whos who and whos doing what .

Hey uncle_lee, those 50 rd tear drum mags are fun, reliability is very short lived with them. Nothing beats the 10 rd for reliability. A better long term high capacity is to stack two, three or four factory magazines. My favorite is E&L's two clip stacker, most compact option. (for any 10/22)

Thanks,
I heard that from a couple more shooters. You put the iceing on the cake.
I might just have to save $80.00 for the teardrop and invest in a pocket full of 10 rounders.

As for Ruger mags, the 10 rounders are great. I can attest to the Ruger made bx25 being ultra reliable for me, I own four and they get filled and shot at least twice a month, zero mag related failures, can also be disassembled for cleaning or spring replacement. Prior to these I always had good luck with butler creek steel lips mags.

I don't see why to register the zip 22 as an SBR(class III). I'd SBR an AR lower or 10/22 receiver for aftermarket support alone. I guess you could just bolt a Ruger Charger to the bottom or your AR.

I sell guns for a major retailer.  We had a really good deal on 10/22's for Black Friday (179.98).  Now I'm sold out of all of them, and waiting for a restock.  I should have some in by next week.  I have a truck coming on Mon., Wed., and Fri.  Should be guns on all of them.  Waiting for 10/22 RB, 10/22 takedown, 10/22 synthetic / stainless, and 10/22 with a pink laminated stock (go figure).

Am I the only one who thinks these things look hideously uncomfortable to shoot?

This also looks like a good opportunity for clueless people to accidently commit a few felonies (SBR, etc).

louiethelump

I just saw a great deal on Ruger 10 shot 22 magazines on e-bay:  5 of them with free shipping for only $247!!!

WAT A BUY!

I am with the "it does not look like a gun" group.  It can be in my tool box when Obama's Black Panther personal police come to search my house and I am guessing they will miss it, next to the laser level, and automatic measuring tape and stud finder.  The magazines will be taped to the inside of the roof of the dog's house...............  LOL!

Hmm, a real "Zip gun".   I recently read, "Plum Crazy" makers of AR-15's changed their name to something more politically correct.   Owning a Zip gun might have some collector value.

It looks like the new Tech-9, which has twice the bulk and a quarter of the reliability of a Glock 17.   I'll pass on the paramilitary looking pistolas.  Give me a Mk II or a 10/22.

Uncle_Lee

I have a Zip on order.
Just as soon as my dealer can get it in.

Right now Davidson's have them "allotted".
What ever that means.

That means they are in short supply and will be sold to the high volume dealers first, on a limited basis, based on how much they have spent with Davidson's.  This likely means your local gun shop will not be getting any any time soon as they are competing with the BIG high volume stores.

In the 1970's, model 29 S&W and model 60 S&W were on allotment.  A dealer could buy ONE of those with the purchase of a couple of thousand dollars worth of S&W ammunition and holsters for example.
