Welcome. Not sure on response time. I?d take Al?s advice and give them a ring.

I sent in my black widow and it has been sitting on a table to be logged into inventory for over 2 weeks.   It is pathetic how slow they are taking care of your firearm.   I would guess its going to be over a month that I am unprotected.   Come kill me.

Honestly, I don't really care about defending myself with this gun. It's more like a very cute toy. :)
It is not even the major gun in my collection, which I can use for such a purpose ;) (it will be .45ACP, or .40SW, or at least 9mm. Definitelly not .44 Magnum - cannot shoot fast with this one)

LepriconX,

First welcome to the forum.

My past experience with NAA Customer service is that it was very fast.

A couple of years ago the spring on my BW broke. I sent it in and in just about a little over one week,I had it back.

Don't dismiss the little NAA guns as not being viable for self defense. You more than likely to have one of those with you than the other larger pieces.

Only one NAA mini??  That will change soon enough, they tend to multiply.

Well, it's California. With only 1 model (of ALL NAA products) certified for sale here. Will be hard to expand the collection. :(

LepriconX,
Sorry to hear that.  Hopefully things will change (probably not) but you can always hope.

I am surprised that only one model was "approved" I thought that basically they were all the same???

There are or at least were two NAA revolvers on the approved list in the DPRK (Demokratik People's Republik of Kalifornia). The 1 1/8th inch models of the .22 LR & the .22 mag. You can also buy models that are not on the list if they meet the length requirements since they do not need to be on the list. As best I recall they must be over 7 1/2" in length. You can also buy others that are not on the list from private parties who have them legally. (Now what am I bid for a .22 short, Black Widow or a .22 LR Freedom Arms mini? None will go cheap but I can be persuaded.

1 - It's the same gun, just in 2 calibers;
2 - No. lenght does not matter.  Strictly what is on the roster (or at least dealers will not even talk to you);
3 - Private parties, yes. But to find it... (I want Sidewinder .22 WMR)

LepriconX

BTW. DPRK is not Demokratik People's Republik of Kalifornia. It is a "Demokratik People's Republik of Kommifornia"!

No, they are two different guns. The magnum is quite a bit larger. Yes, length does matter. There is an exception to the list for pistols. Single action revolvers with at least 5 chambers & over a certain length (I believe 7 1/2" do not have to be on the approved list.
SB 15 EXEMPT HANDGUNS
All curio/relic handguns as defined in Section 178.11 of Title 27 of the Code of Federal
Regulations are exempt from the provisions of SB 15. Also exempt are single-action revolvers
that have at least a five-cartridge capacity with a barrel length of not less than three inches, and
that meet any of the following specifications:
1.    Was originally manufactured prior to1900 and is a curio or relic, as defined in
Section 178.11 of Title 27 of the Code of Federal Regulations;
2.    Has an overall length measured parallel to the barrel of at least seven and onehalf inches when the handle, frame or receiver, and barrel are assembled; or
3.     Has an overall length measured parallel to the barrel of at least seven and onehalf inches when the handle, frame or receiver, and barrel are assembled and
that is currently approved for importation into the United States pursuant to the
provisions of paragraph (3) of subsection (d) of Section 925 of Title 18 of the
United States Code.
Additionally, Olympic pistols listed in PC section 12132(h)(2) are exempt from the
provisions of SB 15. Consequently, firearms dealers, secondhand dealers, and pawn brokers ma

Honestly, I didn't know that they are of diff lenght. 4" vs 4.65". Thanx.
Also, I did read that article, but still unsure why gun shops still saying otherwise. Maybe just do not want to get into troubles?

theysayimnotme

The entire magnum pistol is larger. That was just one page from the Department of Justice (Kalifornia) Information Bulletin #2000 FD-07 dtd 12-12-00.

NAA sent me a replacement Magnum Assembly Cylinder Pin. Got it yesterday, installed and tested today at lunch time. Everything works now. !!! :)

The strange thing - they are (visually) absolutelly identical ! :)

Wow. I have another magical event.
To tell you the truth I like having mini in my pocket at home. Just for fun. In pocket holster.

I came home from work, put it in the pocket and start making dinner. Everuthing was fine. Then, I just reached for the gun to enjoy the look one more time, and when I was getting it out the grips just fell of the handle. Not a big deal, but WTF? Why? Is it normal. I have NEVER touched the screw on this gun.

Uncle_Lee

Well, never heard of that before.
Have any pictures of the grips and the screw??

Not yet. I was slightly upset and just put everything into the box.

P.S. I am not blaming NAA, just surprised that something like this happened.

LepriconX

Nothing is broken, nothing out of the order.
I will put it back and will use blue lock-tite.

Guardian grip screws are prone to loosening, if you don't use the rubber washers they come with. Only two turns from snug to lost.

I cannot will not be able to say anymore if the rubber washer was there. :)

LepriconX

This picture was taken just out of the box.
Looks like the bolt was already kind of short.

I don't think minis have the rubber washer. My comment was about the Guardian. Per your later post, all you need is a new screw, no thread lock.

It was simply not tightened in a first place.
I put everything back, tightened, and it looks better now. You know, the end of the screw.
