I was looking around Davidson's just to see that they are still out of all the guns I own, for over a year. One being the stainless Bearcat. The list price is now $829 dollars ! Considering that a stainless convertible Single-Six is $839, I think the Bearcat is a little high?

I got my two in 2011 when list was $584 and I paid $440. I added aftermarket stainless ejector housings (Ruger's were still aluminum) and Wolff springs for another $60, so that's $500 each. Still beats today's street price of about $700 plus $20 for springs.

I didn't check other models, but price varies from about the same to $80 less. You might find a Shopkeeper for $625 in stainless. I know some members debate getting some version of Bearcat, and they aren't getting any cheaper.

Nothing's going to get cheaper anytime soon....

I don't think size has much to do with the cost difference.... could the difference be driven by manufacturing cost  ?

We are losing the race for "SKILLED LABORERS" as fast as arrow flys . Seems the skilled are losing interest in trying to find persons like themselves , I speak with my experiences as a small time contractor , AKA able handyman . I.Q. numbers are falling at great rates due to what I can't put a finger on it except drugs and alcohol are a big contributor along with just being lazy . :( >:(
TO ARMS , TO ARMS the liberal socialists are coming . Load and prime your weapons . Don't shoot till you see their UN patches or the Obama bumper stickers , literally . And shoot any politician that says he wants to help you or us .

IMO, the American school systems today also has a lot to do with that...

Paid $400 new for my Bearcat three years ago, plus tax, shipping & FFL.
Sweet little shooter, but wound up gifting it to my grandson for his 11th birthday last year.

Bearcatter,
To think that back in 1958 they started out at $37.50.............full retail!!!!

They may be pricey but in all honesty,I consider the Bearcats fine little jewels.

The only one I don't like is the one with the adjustable sights. I am sure it is super nice but I prefer the regular ones.

Bill Ruger called them little jewels! My two are the regular stainless, and I obviously like 'em a lot. I had a stainless Single-Six when I bought the Bearcats, and it was sold shortly after. It was suddenly too big and heavy!

The adjustable sight models are ugly, and I think only two holsters made for them.

i really like my Ruger .22 Bearcats: two Shopkeepers and a blued fixed sight version, which was the last Bearcat i've purchased...

i found it just before the Marxist madness descended on America... a LGS had an annual sale - everyone was focused on polymer semiautos and shotguns, but i peered through the deserted single-action section and came upon a Bearcat that had been languishing for two years on the shelf and was marked down to $380...

so i bought, and i'm glad i did as it is a nice shooter... my most recent purchase though is a TALO Wrangler birdseye - it's gonna be my 'beater' single-action and will be used a lot:
