Practice ammo

We own a plain jane short barreled .22lr...when we rarely carry the gun velocitors are loaded...but at our weekly range visits we like to use aguila colibri or cci cb shorts, that ammo much easier on our old hands...simple question: are we being crackheaded...?

Both are good. At the distance this gun is good for they are fine for practice. The aguila colibri  are very quiet. With a good backstop i have shot the Aquila in the garage.  Just crank up some music with loud base and anyone outside can't here it.  You should fire one or two of your carry ammo sometimes just because.

Okay, thank you...we haven't shot any of our velocitors (kinda hard to find the boxes we have on hand), and shooting regular hv bulk of any brand wears our hands out...we normally practice 2 quick shots at 6-10 feet, and I'm sure if the real thing ever happened the heavier recoil of the velocitors might not be even noticed...now if I could just outshoot my 'ol lady all would be good...

Nope, lots of practice with light loads is better than little practice with the "hotter" loads. Make sure that you use a grip that allows you to have good control of the revolver, then shoot whatever you can afford to shoot a lot of; you will gain familiarity with carrying, handling, shooting and reloading the revolver, and your confidence level will grow. If/when you can shoot more of the hotter loads, do that, but shoot as often as is practicable, always using good, safe gun-handling practices.
As you likely know, one's defensive "plan" should not only rely on a weapon; the weapon (& necessary skill) should be a part of the plan, but not the only part. It's the last resort... and while sudden unforeseen circumstances may make it the only effective option, being aware of our surroundings & environment ("Condition Yellow" - alert & aware) will nearly always let us avoid the need to use it.

My back up plan is 5 feet tall and caries a Taurus 38 spl and she can shoot it.
We are too old and broke down to run or fight. So we will just shoot.

TO ARMS , TO ARMS the liberal socialists are coming . Load and prime your weapons . Don't shoot till you see their UN patches or the Obama bumper stickers , literally . And shoot any politician that says he wants to help you or us .

Don't mess with old men. Life in prison is less of a deterrent the older we get. ;D

Guys, NAA is in Utah. They're more, uhhh, polite there than a lot of places.

I used to learn a lot at the Kitco (precious metals) forum. They're in Canada. Hahahaha! I think it's illegal to hurt anyone's feelings in Canada. That forum was managed tighter than a mosquito's sphincter stretched over a rain barrel. (Not sure why anyone would ever DO that.)
