Go to school on this.  We could make a similar assist for a NAA I would think.  They talk about how it is federally clear of legal issues.   May give it a try.  Steve

OV-1D

That would be a relatively easy change up for production as long as its legal and I'll be one of the first early bird buyers with a touch of the Unc_Lee of wanting two for sure . ;) ;)

Looks like the key is that there is no real screw type attachment.  Has to lay in the rest.  Seems far simplier to do for the more limited recoil of minis. Plus you could us it with all your minis

Can I have mine with an integrated scope mount, bi-pod and bayonet lug?

You forgot to ask for a grenade launcher, laser designator, and coffee maker.
Guns are a lot like parachutes:

Looks like you could mount a CCW badge on each side of the shoulder stock, too!

OV-1D

Could also mount it to a podium on wheels along with a bar stool . :)

Perhaps a picatiny or Weaver rail would be more to your liking.  That way you can pick from the various laser sites and flashlights available.

Oh and adjustable tritium night sites would be nice too.

??? ??? ???

What ? You did want it fully equipped did'nt you . What would be more handy out in the bush all the metal ( tachical ) stuff or a good old roll of Charmen extra soft ? Especially after a night of eating beans and bar-b-q . You tell me if its a good idea. :)

Gotta have a "camp latrine" gun. What would happen if the dark beasties came for you after you just finished digging a cat hole?

You hit them with a shovel.  8) Or E-tool if you want to be more "tactical".

G50AE

I also think it would be more "tactical" if the NAA Rifle was based off of a sindwinder instead of the basic mini.  8)

G50AE

I think I have figured out the configuration for the NAA Rifle.  Sidewinder based action, so the you don't need to fuss with cylinder pins.  Integrated scope mount, picatiny rail, bi-pod and bayonet lug.  And optional adjustable tritium night sites.

Sounds a little Too "Tactical" for me!!!

Perhaps the bayonet lug should be optional.

A few years ago, I messaged NAA management about considering making a folding NAA Bicycle Rifle, similar to the one above.

I was told that, since their production lines were busy 24/7, filling backorders, they were "less than interested"..................................  :'(

So, I made my own, on a magnum frame, from a turned-down stainless Ruger 10-22 take-off bbl I bought online @ $30, and made a folding buttstock from heli-arced aluminum tubing from Home Cheapo.

(I checked w/BATF first - they said it's OK to make a long gun/rifle from a handgun, provided the bbl was at least 16' long, with an OAL of 26" with the stock extended -  but once converted, there's no going back to a handgun w/o a BATF permit.)

That's just what I was going to use a Ruger barrel but I must turn it down , great job on all of it and thanks for the pictures and ideas . :)

If you query the maker of the bicycle rifle pictured above, you'll discover some faults.  It was made my a fellow that goes by 'Teddy Bear Rat' on Rimfirecentral.com

According to TBR the rifle suffers woefully from barrel whip and is wholly inaccurate.

The other failing he mentions is one that's common to all revolving rifles.  Flash cuts on your arms and wrists.  So much so that he says he's restricted his rifle to Colibri ammunition.

If you make one in WMR I suggest the addition of a flash guard to protect you from gas cutting.  This is the solution of Rossi and Taraus when they designed their revolving rifles.

Thanks DBM I was going to made my barrel thickerer anyhow as for the blast well that's another story maybe some type of forward stock section out of carved wood . Thanks for the heads up though .  :)

pietro, have you noticed any of the problems Teddy Bear Rat had with his?  Specifically, barrel whip, accuracy issues, and flash cuts?

.

I never completed my own NAA Bicycle Rifle, getting only as far as completing the turning of a stainless Ruger M10/22 bbl down, cutting it to length (17") & threading the shank (with the same threads as the original 1-7/8" bbl)  before fitting it to the frame/cylinder (gap).

I was working on a hinge system for a folding buttstock made of solid aluminum rods (from Home Cheapo), bent & heliarced together, when ( sad to say) outside issues having nothing to do with BATF or the conversion forced me to disconinue the project.

I returned the Mini to it's issue config, re-installing the 1-7/8" bbl, etc.

Now Pietro you didn't snap the barrel thread going into the mini did you ? Otherwise why did you stop ? We need to know .  ;) ;)

Sorry - I was thinking about the Red Ryder, carbine action, two-hundred shot range model air rifle! Remember? "Little Beaver" was his "Tonto".

The little badger is bigger and doesn't have 5 rounds on tap :p

I wonder if the NAA Earl / sheriff or hogleg would be a better platform (ie, more rigid / structurally stronger).  Are the barrels screwed in too?

tocsn40

I would take a hog leg 6in barrle and a stock. if that would keep it a handgun..I'm truly not loking for a long barrle 17in or longer. I think that a 6in earl hogleg with removable stock would be cool.

Very cool indeed.

Legal, just an "SBR" (short barrel rifle) and a stamp. Or am I missing something?

Meaning you need to go through the whole NFA process to legally own the item in question.  Is that worth the hassle?  That question can only be answered by the individual looking at the item in question.
