NAA Mini-"monkey" on my back

Finally stepped over the casual mini-revolver ownership line, and bought my second one.

I now officially have a monkey on my back, buying it on a whim, and because it is the "Magnum Conversion" version with a 1 5/8" barrel and the two cylinders.  The grip is a standard wood birdhead configuration.

Just for the hell of it, I brought out my other NAA piece w/folding holster grip, and swapped the cylinders to see if they would interchange without having to send one back to NAA's factory for special adjustments.  They certainly did, without a single hiccup.  The Long Rifle cylinder has a capital "L" stamped in the front of it.

Next thing you know, I'll find a "Sidewinder" rattling around under a rock someplace.  LOL  I've been bitten by the bug...

At least they are little monkeys , keep going . :) :)

Don't forget that each one of these little prizes must have their own upgraded and possibly custom made grips.

Since you only have two, it may still be possible to control the addiction! Just stay out of gun stores and under no circumstances browse Gunbroker and you might be okay. My problem is that after a few months of self control, when I do see a Mini that I do not already have, I have a crazy need to pull out a credit card and take it home!

Nope, He's irredeemably lost.

Maybe some genius holster maker will invent a "** Tie Clip Holster **" for Minis.  Hide it in plain sight.

Don't worry, I'm going back onto my meds now...

Stay away from GunBroker.
In 7 weeks, I bought 16 of the cute little things.

Uncle Lee; that is not too bad. It only breaks down to a little bit more than two guns per week....................................

Uncle Lee I think you beat me but I know the disease. NO CURE either. There's always just one more you can't live without. My wife gave up on me a long time ago.

That makes me feel better. At least there is one person in the world more addicted than myself! I have bought eight over the past four years. I do not plan to buy another until a longer barrel Sidewinder is available. Of course, I would have said the same thing a couple of months ago, before I saw that Blackjack in the local store.

I've had my Mini Mag with the conversion cylinder for about a year. Yesterday,a Black Widow with the conversion cylinder made its way home with me. It was so cute and fit my hand so well, my wife wasn't even upset with me. I guess one a year isn't so bad. Right, Uncle Lee?

If you don't get the DT's, it will do.

I have kind of broken the mini habit. Since Sept I have bought 7 little 25 & 22 autos.

Oh, I forgot, one Sidewinder, last month.

Oh yes, and a used Taurus 84 to carry under my truck seat.........

I might have found a temporary cure for Mini-itis.  It is not bad enough of a fault to send the new revolver and both cylinders to NAA for repairs, but just an irritation.  Makes me wonder about quality control inspections at the factory.

The revolver I just bought has poorly finished cylinder pin bores, which doesn't allow the pin to seat in either of the new cylinders sometimes, unless it are spun toward a different chamber, then the pin goes in full depth without hesitation.  That tells me the cylinders central pin bores (large and small ends) are misaligned by two or three thousandths of an inch on BOTH the new cylinders.  As a comparison, I tried the cylinder pins of both guns on my older NAA mini, and had no hang-ups of either pin in the old central cylinder bore.

The fix I did was to mark both new cylinders with a spot of yellow enamel paint on the misaligned cylinder so I don't line up the pin's detent ball with the bad cylinder when inserting the pin.  Then they both accept the pin without any problem.  Don't know how long that spot of paint will hold, but if necessary, I can use a Dremel tool to mark the poor chambers and avoid having to force the pin to seat it.

If I understand correctly, your new gun is the one with the problem. This is a no brainier. Call NAA and tell them the problem. They will send/fax a shipping label, thus paying postage both ways. It is an aggravation to be w/o it for a week or 2, but it is better to get it corrected now. While you are sitting around, check the muzzle to ensure it is square, and that the crown is ok. If not, they will also correct these issues while they have it. You will also get to talk with one of, if not the best, customer service manager in this, or any other industry!

Quality control dept needs attention!!! Good thing NAA has Jessica to keep everyone happy!!! They keep her in a job I guess!!! All of the customer service dept personnel that I have communicated with has been outstanding!!!

Good point, Greyelky.  Will probably do that.  Just wish I had some time at the gun range to see how things are with the Conversion piece.  Had bought it less than 4 days ago as of this writing.  Hate to do it so soon, since I've already ordered stuff for it from the NAA website, like a belt buckle, an IWB brown holster, and oversize rosewood grips.

Still, what you wrote makes sense.  I should be completely satisfied with it, and I'm not at present.  The crown is not square, as you opined that it might be.  With the piece held vertically, the left side of the crown is not at the same level as the right.  One more comment to add to my litany of displeasure.

It is comforting to see the positive reaction from the users here who speak so well for NAA's Customer Service.  It lets me know you are not "orphaned" by neglect when you report a problem or complaint.
