I have grips made from their banded ivory on three Colt style pocket revolvers and it is just beautiful

Thanks Jax for that site , always looking for more suppliers . How about making your own ? Very enjoyable hobby .  :)

Don't have the equipment for it - the bands ivory is really nice has a gold/yellow bands in it looks like aged ivory

Actual ivory has it's own magical feel to it , strange stuff . Only legally harvested though . Has a constent cool , heavy , solid almost as if it's alive feel even retains a smell to it . I'll have to try the artifical stuff soon thanks .  :)  Dremel is all you need and patience and a plan of course , made most everything else myself .  Those pearls will have a similar feel to them .  :)

Would like to try making some there a tutorial anywhere?

OV-1D

Kinda hard to explain but just copy a NAA set , trace outline , cut shape add insert (that's the stand off on the inside part of the NAA grip) have to make those also . Copy escutcheon holes ( screw set ) for more starters . Practice on a piece of wood first to start to get the feel for it . Screw (escutcheons) centering is important , gotta be pretty close if not right on from the originals . No reason not to give it a try . Dremel machine very useful and lots of hand sanding along with final polishing . Patience is a virtue . :)

Heres my finished set of elephant ivory's Jax , you'll have allot of satisfaction doing your own  . Need to see yours for sure when your done , good luck . I have these on this Earl but the frame is just a micrometer wider , that's the line you see on them meeting together , than the other Earl I made them for , gotta switch them . Ivory is wonderful material to work with and the feel is incredible . :) :)

Thanks Rogue , hey Jaxerno you might want to try some mammoth ivory also myself I've used all the suppliers but I believe Fine Turnage Productions has the best selections , find them on the internet . Just remember thicker the better to work with for width of grips . Happy hunting . :) :)

I was thinking of making the inserts separate and laminating them to the grip panels any recommendations for a material to use? I want to make tight fitting inserts and holding the panels on with rare earth magnets joined in the center (magnets linking to themselves not the frame)

OV-1D

  45Flint uses magnets , I haven't can't help you there , sorry. :)
